not ribs, but pork roast...brown the roast in olive oil with a bit of salt, pepper, fresh or ground thyme. Slice an onion and layer on bottom of slow cooker. Turn crock pot to low. Put browned roast on top of onions. Put in chunks of cut up potatoes and then some carrots around... pour in a can of beer. Cover and go do whatever for the day...finishing touch--3 tblpns butter melted in saucepan with 3 tblspns flour to a light brown roux--gradually pour in liquid from crockpot for a fantastic gravy--any leftover pork can be chopped up for pulled pork bbq sammiches the next day.....

Junie, that sounds sooo good. I'm keeping this for winter when the boys are off at hockey. Always looking for "fast & easy" that tastes good. I really do think we need to have a food forum here...we have some really great recipes...
-
ok so i boiled the hell out of them (in garlic/salted/tumeric) seasoned water.........then i basted the hell out of them with "dianas sauce".......then i julienned carrots, celery, onion, and garlic and wrapped them in foil with a "bit of jack" and slow roasted them while we had numerous drinks and a hotub......oh my goodness........awesome with roasted potatoes and spinach salad.........now i need to go to bed cause i'm unbelievably stuffed! thanks for the replies........now if i could just get rid of my brother!!!!!!!!
-
sounded delish shel...but sorry, we do not have a "recipe" for "getting rid of brothers" ... you are on your own for that!!
-
after all the food i ate last night i just polished off a huge 3 cheese and bacon bagel with garlic herb cream cheese......my fellow canucks will get a kick out of this........we no longer have "reat canadian bagel" stores in my neck of the woods so get DH to pick them up 2 hours away in london when he goes off for a ride on his bike. problem is i'm addicted and i eat the whole dozen in like 4-5 days..........."oink"
i'm definitely going to have to grab some exercise soon after this summer of "lazing about"!
cheers girls, just wanted to say "hey".......gotta batten down the hatches here.........blackish greenn skies and wind from hell...........and captain jack is outside and won't come in when i call him! yikes!!!!! -
hey shel- hope you survived the storm and capt jack made it home safely.
-
thanks christine...........cap'n jack is MIA..........i'm heart broken.........been up nearly all night calling and calling him, i hope he's just locked in someone's garage or something.
worst part is the storm lasted all of about 5 minutes! but it was enough to spook the poor little bugger!
back to my search.......its 97 degrees today, should be fun! -
and a very happy birthday to you christine..........many happy returns!
-
Yes, a very Happy Birthday to you Christine! I'm having a drink in your honor now!
Janis L -
Aw- celebrated a little too much last night as a pre-bday cursor. I was the Karaoke Queen last night. Laid on a raft all day (110 heat index) I am going to a big party tonight, not for me , but a fundraiser for friend with leukemia. Thanks for the wishes. I will take it a bit easier tonight.
-
Happy DAY!!! Sounds like you had fun last night. Hope you have a glorious bday and many, many more to come!!

my cat is found........dehydrated, pissed off and cranky from being locked in a shed, but found. whoopdy doo i know lol!
actually i've got a question for you guys........what do you think melissa means by "sub communities"........its part of the rationale given for removing titles. i'm geussing this type of thread is a "sub community" and i geuss its frowned upon here (or i'm not getting it). just curious, seems like the tides are really changing lately. -
Shel
The only real Canadian bagel comes form Montreal. My daughter who lives there has standing orders not to come home without stopping at the bagel bakery first. -
Just curious, what's a real Canadian bagel? How does it differ from others? Wow, we're talking about bagels, not booze. A new sub community. What shall we call it? The changing tides are bugging me.
-
lol........its a brand name "great canadian bagel factory"....they weigh about 8 lbs apiece and their full of fattening junk...........yum!
ha ha about the montreal bagels.........my cousin is not allowed home from there without smoked meat........next time he's bringing bagels too!
i know we can be the "constantly stuffing something in our mouthes girls".......food, cocktails, feet..............! -
Happy Birthday Christine!!!
-
Man, oh, man!! I'm really good at the foot thing.
-
i'm lucky lini.........i wear a size 2 shoe and my mouth.........well it can occasionally accomodate both feet!

That was my thought, too. Not sure though. Maybe some people are just jealous? Or maybe some of us just don't have lives! I'm posting less often just because I have nothing to add that someone else won't or already hasn't stated. I'm moving on and trying not to complain about my life.
Janis L -
Dang, Shel. You really are tiny, size 2!! What the hell does a size 2 look like? I think I past that right up on my way to 8 when I was about 6 years old. Small, but mighty, right??
So do you girls think that (opening up another can of worms here) the whole thing isn't jealousy, but left over stuff from adolescence or high school? You know that whole insecure, I don't fit in thing. Some people really carry that stuff over into adulthood. -
I miss your quips though, Janis. Your humor and ingenious remarks are missed. Not to mention your knowledge on Windex, and all...
-
i don't think you ever complained janis..........we all have the odd moment but wtf? i know how you feel though, i am afraid to "be myself" anymore...........maybe i really don't have a life!
-
Lini,
I've been in my own serious mood lately plus I haven't seen much humor here so I haven't been participating much. I'm still quite humorous in person though!
Janis L -
Oh, and I didn't mean that the women here are complaining, it's just that if I read everything I get overwhelmed. I'm either sad for someone who's less fortunate or not wanting to share my joys. Does that make any sense?
-
That's good. Serious is okay. Time for soul searching stuff and all. You'll never lose the core of who you are, just a mood. I was in a total bitch-fest mood over the weekend. Pretty much stayed away from here too. I also don't ever remember hearing you complain, well aside from that whole thing you put on your foot thing a while back.
Hope you figure out what you need to figure out. Wish I could figure my stuff out, too.
lini -
Janis: Serious mood is a great description. I'm feeling that way myself. For me, a big part of moving on is laughing and having fun. I'm racking my brain and its a dud with funny. It has to be more spontaneous I guess. The barbie doll thing came outta no where.
And no wine here today lol. 100 degree's its water, water, and more water.
NuttyNurseNicki -
Totally makes sense to me. I need to stay a way from particular spots here too, otherwise my mind gets crazy. Heaven knows I don't need any more crap in my head. Yea, I pretty much stayed off all week end too. I was either going to bitch some one out for no reason, or lay too much of myself out there, which no one needs to hear or know. Still haven't started my period, but feel better today.
-
Okay, I'll complain! I'm getting fat, too. Just like everyone else here who's gone through this BC crap. I now have a belly. Never had one before. Is my complaint valid? Yes, because I've always taken good care of my body and now I have belly fat. I don't fit into my jeans anymore because my butt and thighs have exploded.
Now, does it make me feel better to complain? Not really. Either I start exercising more or I get used to by new body. I'm mad but feel that's wasted energy so I try to focus on positive things, like my hair growing (even though it's as straight as ever again) and getting my periods again which makes me happy because it means my body is back to NORMAL after chemopause and I want NORMAL!
Okay, rambling. That's why I don't post much anymore. Oh, more good news from me: my latest onc visit showed all of my blood work to be NORMAL. Tumor marks was a 4! So, I'm moving on. If it gets me again then so be it but I'm not going to over anaylze any of what I've gone through, I'm just going to act like person I used to be as best as I can.

Yep, it's frickin' hot! I'm not complaing though as I prefer this over winter. I had a Mike's Hard Lemonade after work. Not the best but a cool drink nonetheless. -
You go girl!! Big butt and all!! You are still a hot mama and you know it. I bet you look amazing, you're just not used to a few curves. Guys, like those curves.
Congratulations on your tests and moving on.
