I am on chemo and take maps every day.  Is it ok to wear my   Day sleeve when napping?

barb, it's such a pain to take garments off and on during the day. If you're a quiet sleeper or can rest in a recliner where you're unlikely to flop around in your sleep and twist the garments, that's likely to be okay. Try it and see. It doesn't work for me--I wake up cranky and hurting--but theoretically a brief nap shouldn't be a problem. Day garments work by stimulating lymph flow with muscle movement, so they're not useful when you're not working your arm, but that can happen if you're just sitting reading or watching TV too. Elevating your arm might help, and certainly not lying on that side. Let us know what you discover!

    Hugs,

I recently (Aug & Sept.) had to spend between 50% and 75% of the time laying on my left side only.  Thankfully that's my non-LE side.  Nothing to do with IBC - a retina detached and Dr tried the least invasive TX first and for 4 weeks it seemed to be working but then detached again so had to do surgery after all - but I digress.    During that time, I did wear my day garments during the day.  I might have had to stay horizontal on one side only but I was going to be sire that I made every day as 'usual' as possible so every morning I did the usual - run Flexi-Touch, put on day garments and get dressed.  Used night sleeve as usual at night.  No problems at all.  I never thought to ask K. about what I should or shouldn't do - just did what made sense to me.  Actually, if I had called him, I'm sure he'd have said do what works - IF problems  - CALL ME ASAP!

I did obviously spend a LOT of time just laying but was not asleep most of that time and had no problems so my suggestions would be to try what makes sense to you, feels comfortable to you and ask your CLET for suggestions.
