Freaking out

Just had a ct scan of the lung for bronchitis that has not gone away in 5 weeks.
Original report had the scan clear.
The radiologist called tonight and said they see a 1.5 cm x 1cm mass under my right nipple.
Thoughts to share on this is greatly appreciated by any of you men out there.

Sorry to hear your dilemma it sounds similiar to mine. Can you feel the lump? I have an appointment with a surgeon on 12/13 and have had no tests yet. I am sure people with experiences will respond to your questions. I completely understand the worrying. Everyone I know keeps telling me it's going to turn out benign but I always catastrophe health problems and they turn out okay. I guess it's a mental game we must play with ourselves to prepare for the worst and be extremely happy when it's a positive outcome. Gook luck for both us! -
I found a lump behind my nipple two months ago and in my case was a breast cancer.
I had to wait one month to make all exams until I made a biopsy to confirm that I have a cancer and is not easy.
Male breast cancer is rare disease then you have more chances that is not a cancer, but you have to make all exams to verify.
Good luck to you. -
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. It is finals week and it has been killing me!
Have them take better pictures... man-o-gram and ultrasound. By the way... the lady who gives you the man-o-gram will really enjoy causing you pain. Don't even think about complaining... it only motivates her to make it hurt more.
A biopsy is the only way to know for sure if it is cancer or not, but the pictures will help them to get an idea of its growth. Don't accept the excuse that it is a lipoma. Under the nipple is not a normal place for a lipoma to form.
Best of luck to you. I hope that you do not join our club. -
Kev,
How did your appointment go? Were you able to get the answers you needed?

The surgeon sent me for a mammogram which I got done today and the lumps/masses didn't show up in the mammogram I guess they did a sonogram also. I waited awhile they handed me a piece of paper that said that the mammogram was normal. It said since the doctor(s) found abnormalities upon breast exam to follow up with him. Now I'm thinking why bother getting a biopsy now. He had told me he'd only biopsy one of the three from the beginning. Any news on your situation? -
That sounds like good news Kevwny! I hope that your doctor agrees. -
Great news Kev
Way to go
I have my mammo tomorrow
Here's to keeping my fingers crossed for the same results

I am not a male but want to encourage you to get the biopsy just to be sure.
They did 3 on me and it's ultrasound directed and very fast. They use a very thin needle that pulls the sample out.
It didn't hurt that much and was more nerve wracking than anything else.
I faithfully went for mammograms every year so when I was first diagnosed, I was not stressed, thinking we had caught it early. I didn't realize that a small % aren't detected on mammograms until they are big.
In my case it was against my chest wall so there was no lump. The ultrasound did a much better job of showing it, then a MRI showed it even more.
Had the biopsy after the ultrasound but before the MRI.
Hope you don't mind my advice but it's better to be sure so if it's positive they can treat it quickly.
All the best to you and may 2014 bring you peace of mind.
