Skin necrosis after mastectomy = extreme tightness? Suggestions?

I had a nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with tear drop implants in early-July and still have extreme tightness and am unable to work or drive. I got a second opinion from a PS who said that the necrosis/almost losing my skin after the mastectomy is the cause of the extreme tightness in my chest. The skin healed on its own. He said skin cannot grow and so the skin on the whole breast becomes tighter and also the healing skin is replaced with scar tissue. The only options are to 1). replace the implants with smaller ones, 2). do expanders and put in bigger implants, or 3). just remove the implants. He said that massage and PT probably won't help.


Has anyone had this experience? Has anything helped? Thanks!!!

    "Probably won't help" isn't a definite. So many women here have had good luck with PT. I would definitely give it a shot before trying a surgery. What do you have to lose, but some of your time and maybe insurance co-pays? I had extreme tightness from radiation, and PT was a life saver for me.

    IDK, but I am currently experiencing this skin necrosis and it is extremely painful tonight. It does feel tight, almost like I'm wearing the world's most uncomfortable underwire bra in the world. This is what I've been worried about, long term effects of this skin healing on its own. Good luck, keep us updated!
