As for my situation....I think Im gonna wait till RN hubby get home. I WILL NOT call 911 unless REALLY tanking to go to local hospital! The one with the chemo unit are the ones that almost killed me in 2005..the other is the county hospital....NOT equipped. The only hospital I would even think of is either in Gainesville 45 min away, Tampa Moffitt where they did surg 1 1/2 or Orlando 1 1/4 hours away.

If I go into the ones here in town I AM A DEAD MAN WALKIN! Notta me! Notta NOW!

There must be something I can do do be able to stay home.

WHHHHHY is it always on a weekend this happens! GRRRRRRRRRr......

glad you're waiting Paulette but do hope you go when he gets home.

Hugs Audra- my surgery sites look weird. My period keeps trying to restart. Chemo is bizarre. I'm behind you in treatment so can only offer support not a light for your path.

I've noticed that in the few days after chemo, my BMX incision areas get kind of puffy and....not exactly sore, but not exactly comfortable, either.

So far no period trying to restart thank God for that at least.

I have people coming to my house tmorrow. I hope i'm feeling better for that!

    Onward.

Paulette- Your RBC is one thing that you can help rise.  You can eat iron enriched foods and foods that are high in iron to help boost that red blood count.  The WBC cannot be raised through food though.  Now I'm sure you are wondering what you need to eat.....

Here is the link to the American Red Cross that has an extensive list of foods to eat http://www.redcrossblood.org/learn-about-blood/health-and-wellness/iron-rich-foods.

    Iron Rich Foods

The amount and type of iron in your diet is important. Some iron-rich foods are:

    Meat & Eggs

    • Beef
    • Lamb
    • Ham
    • Turkey
    • Chicken
    • Veal
    • Pork
    • Dried beef
    • Liver
    • Liverwurst
    • Eggs (any style)

    Seafood

    • Shrimp
    • Clams
    • Scallops
    • Oysters
    • Tuna
    • Sardines
    • Haddock
    • Mackerel

    Vegetables

    • Spinach
    • Sweet potatoes
    • Peas
    • Broccoli
    • String beans
    • Beet greens
    • Dandelion greens
    • Collards
    • Kale
    • Chard

    Bread & Cereals

    • White bread (enriched)
    • Whole wheat bread
    • Enriched pasta
    • Wheat products
    • Bran cereals
    • Corn meal
    • Oat cereal
    • Cream of Wheat
    • Rye bread
    • Enriched rice

    Fruit

    • Strawberries
    • Watermelon
    • Raisins
    • Dates
    • Figs
    • Prunes
    • Prune juice
    • Dried apricots
    • Dried peaches

    Beans & Other Foods

    • Tofu
    • Beans (kidney, garbanzo, or white, canned)
    • Tomato products (e.g., paste)
    • Dried peas
    • Dried beans
    • Lentils
    • Instant breakfast
    • Corn syrup
    • Maple syrup
    • Molasses

Are some foods with iron better than others?

Food has two types of iron — heme iron and non-heme iron. Heme iron is found in meat, fish and poultry, and is the form of iron that is most readily absorbed from your stomach and taken up into your body after you eat it. Non-heme iron is found in plant foods as well as meat. Foods with non-heme iron are still good to eat, but the iron contained in these foods won’t be absorbed as completely as heme iron. You absorb up to 30 percent of heme iron, found only in animal tissues (meat, poultry, and fish). You absorb 2-10 percent of non-heme iron, found in plant foods as well as meat.  Eating meat generally boost your iron levels far more than eating non-heme iron. When you eat heme iron with other sources of non-heme iron, the iron is more completely absorbed. Foods high in vitamin C, like tomatoes, citrus fruits and red, yellow and orange peppers can also help with the absorption of non-heme iron.

OMG.....apparently what I was writing earlier is on another browser page. Perhaps the low RBC is showing! I can normally do a fantastic web page but somehow I just figured out it was there all the time! Maybe I should go to the ER like they said...

Huggs and love...will write more later!

    keep on praying!

    Bald/fuzzy me.

Amazon, beautiful scarf, beautiful fish. How is it going explaining things to your spectrum son? You are introducing change (like a lot with your being away in hospital), and change is probably not much welcomed by him. We have an Aspie, so I get how hard this must be. Ours is a young adult, but I worry that my illness provides him with additonal anxiety, which is the last thing he needs.

    Paulette, take care of yourself!

Audra, my schedule-sister. I never even got dressed today. Knocked flat, headache, nausea, body aches. Yesterday I did a lot, we picked our son up from college last night, I went shopping, erc. I may have felt pain, but had some energy. Today, not so much. Like none. How are we supposed to predict when we can do things???

Tonilee, what a nice family you have.HappyBec, congratulations on your milestone !ThumbsUpFairyDog, love hour pix! Looks like you're determined to have some fun, somehow, some way. VirginiaNJ, maybe you have a favorite chair or car, you've named and is like a pet? Or perhaps you're entirely rational and don't impose extra life forms into your life that require poop, pee and vomit cleanup. And then we claim we don't mind, lying through our teeth. I'm sure I should.say something to someone else, but I feel too sh$$y to read back much. Lisa, by the way, have you thought of becoming a stand-up comedienne?

nice shaped head Pat. I was actually relieved when mine started falling out yesterday. I worried that i had shaved for nothing. I hate hats and scarves and can't wait to get in the door and whip it off.

VirginiaNJ- I LOVE piglet and that is the best and cutest thing ever!  I should've taken some comforting thing to my scans I was a wreck..! I do take my 'blankey' everywhere in the house I go now though...it is security!

Pat- You look gorgeous!  And that is approx. same hair as I have left!  We are twins! -though I will NOT be posting a photo unless makeup or feeling WAY better-  And thank you,(I hate that you feel bad but it makes me feel a little more normal) I have felt awful all day with headache, body aches, just feels like horrid flu that won't go away!  So we are right on schedule!  But I had that awful nuelasta Monday did you too?  I think it's that, I didn't have this last time at all...just tired...

    Lisa- you are funny!

Melrose- I copied and printed the foods, I am trying to eat every 2 hours, seems this is messing with my blood sugar too and I feel better eating more often...I'm trying to get lots of nutrients when I eat and this is helpful..

Paulette- Did you go to ER?  If not, are you feeling better?  If not, GO!!!!  your fishies are cute!

Amazon- love the fish and LOVE how you did your scarf!  How did you do it?  I watched a u tube and still can't seem to get it to look that good...I had it all on one side the other day and it hurt my neck...:) Yours looks elegant and wonderful!

Today is the most that I've felt like a cancer patient. In terrible pain and barely able to walk, my elderly father had to take me to the doctor, pull the car up to get me, and get my prescription filled. Today bore no resemblance to my normal highly active life. Had to tell my son I couldn't make dinner because I literally couldn't stand.

Pat: It's interesting how strikingly similar your hairdo looks like mine. Winking

My son is only 8, but he does understand that there is something wrong with mommy. When I came back home after my mastectomy he looked at my chest and wondered if I got bitten by a shark.

When I thought about it, the wound itself felt like a shark bite. A BIG, BAD SHARK bite! Later, when he saw the port on my arm, he referred to it as a snake bite. So in his mind, I guess, mommy has been badly bitten by some nasty creatures and has to get better.

He is a sweet boy with special savant like gift for Math. For example he can do exponential math in his head, multiply 3 or 4 digit numbers and give you the answer faster than the calculator. However, he also has some challenges, especially in expressive language and socialization. That's why we take him to speech therapy, and ABA language based therapy to support his language development. He goes to a regular grade 3 with an additional support for language. We are lucky that in his current school he is loved by his classmates and teachers alike.

aw Quirkey. So sorry. I hope this passes quickly. It is so hard on our kids. Amazon i thought mine looked like a shark attack too. I guess in a way the kids learn that these things can be handled but sad to watch them go through it. :(

Thank you Jab. The female Nali is a coat- long hair. I never wanted one but she was just the cutest puppy that we ended up with her despite the long hair.

Amazon, love your fishes....and your scarf! Love the color. I need to learn how to tie them. So far I have been wearing winter caps or one of the caps I picked up at the Pink Ribbon shop we have here in town.

VirginiaNJ I like your piglet. Thought about taking a stuffed animal a friend gave me along with to my appointments. Now I think I will!

Thank you Melrose for posting the iron rich foods to eat. I am going to copy it and take it along to the grocery store.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!
