Thinking Out Loud.....

Joan......xmas eve is my big celebration...everyone comes to my hours."it's tradition got 56 years......1st son was not going out at 5 months old....everyone came to us.....family grew, so did the company....now it is up to 40 people.......kids, grand kids husbands, fiances, just family..........a mob....lol
Will do it till I can't anymore...
My oldest son said to his daughter....."now that I have grandkids I would like to begin my own xmas eve tradition"...........my grandaughter with the kids said..."ok Dad....you can do that....but I'll be at Nan's"....,,,I roared when he told me... -
What a great thing Skype must be for grandparents with small grandchildren. So cute that Patch is making sure Lala knows who is who and what is going on - so nice he is looking out for her already.
Such a good idea to read to them on Skype. You are all such good Grandmas (and Grandmas-to-be).
Hope something helps soon, Sandy!
Glad you had fun with the grandchildren, Joan and Val.
Must have felt good to know how much you are loved, Ducky. So funny that your Granddaughter said she'd be at Nan's.
Hope DD's surgery clears up her sinus problems, Diane.
No fun stories from my life. Pretty boring - just going day to day trying to deal with my job I suck at. I was hoping my brain might work better once I started using it again, but any increase in function has been minimal in 9 months. I still can't remember what I need to when I need to. Sucks to have a broken brain.
Only funny thing was before Thanksgiving when DD was home, at one point DD, DS, and I were in the kitchen and DS had his ipod with some app on it that takes images (through the camera?) and distorts them. I don't remember what the app name is - but the images were pretty funny. I haven't laughed like that in a long time. It was pretty stupid, but for some reason I really laughed at it. The 3 of us would look down into the ipod and make faces and DS would pick a type of distortion and then capture different images. Like a fun house mirror. One of them would swirl our faces together. You've probably seen it. Anyway - that was fun.
Went to the football game to watch DD march one last time. Don't think I want to sit in the cold for the last game. Plus, it's expensive. But I'm glad I got to go one more time. Went out the night before and bought new big snowpants to accommodate my fat butt so that I might be warm. I was still cold. Toe warmers helped. We stayed to the end since I wanted to see the band do the postgame performance, but during the 2nd half of the game, I was watching the clock - waiting until I could get out of the cold. Good thing was - the team won! Now they are 2-9...they should have fired the coach sooner - maybe they would have started winning earlier in the season. Then the basketball team won at the buzzer the other night. DD was playing in the pep band - so she got to see an exciting game. She messaged us that they are going to be the death of her - lol. Guess she can't take the suspense.
Speaking of suspense...I'm watching the calendar, as the date when DS needs to apply to college approaches...something has motivated him to get working on it...I hope he gets it all done in time. I wish there were a pill to cure a lack of motivation... My kids and I need it.
(((((((TOL))))))) -
Christ...know what app you mean...hysterical....my kids and grands do it too.....
Yes it was comical what my grandaughter said. But funnier was the look on my son's face when she said it....... -
We've done the funny face ap at family gatherings, too. It really makes everyone laugh. There is also an ap that will age you, now that one is scary! -
I don't think I want to see the aging one...current reality is bad enough - lol. -
LOL..................I don't need the aging one...............actually would be scared to do it..........I could not possibly look worse...............on the other hand...............hmmmmm, I'll wait till next Halloween, if I'm still around.................... -
I did it, but wouldn't let the kids show anyone. I looked hideous. -
Meece........want to scare yourself silly......lay a mirror on a table....bend over it, look straight down.....relax your face..........your gonna pee your pants......
That is why after a certain age they say......never have sex with you on top.........everything hangs including you face...LOLLOLLOLLOL........on your back everything goes back like a facelift.........but if you still have boobs..(lumpies)..........they fall to the side........not a good look.............oh well no winning I guess . LOL -
You guys are too funny... love being a grandmother and so fortunate that I don't need skype.....
Shiela love that so it is a girl?
Diane hope you are ok....
Val glad you had a good visit...
Meece love it, so happy for you that it all works...
Joan how r u
Ducky....you are the best....
am feeling better, just taking time....went to MO yesterday, was considering stopping chemo if the lungs would get better without it, well they nixed that the lungs are not because of chemo cause of cancer.....waiting for a few more results from the pathology report, so have to go back to MO next thursday and he is switching chemo to havalen, I think...we will see....so glad to continue to feel better.....
-

Hi Sandy, I'm doing OK -- loving that it is the week end. Hope you can keep improving.
Diane, how is DD doing?? it sounds like there will be a recovery period. Hope she is pain free very soon. Hang in there...hard on moms too.
Ducky...what about just turning off the lights?
Love your Christmas Eve tradition....we don't even all get together usually...now with DDs both 5 hours in opposite directions, not sure who will be where.
Chris, glad you got to the games...great memories. DS must get busy!
My GS had the face app on his iTouch...always makes me LOL.
Well, it's late and I will try to sleep a little late...but lot of cleaning and decorating to do tomorrow.
And I still have a big stack of papers....I have to stop giving them work to do.
Grades must be done by Monday....then I can just plug in their final exam grade and I'll be done.
Nite all... -

Diane, your DD is such a trooper...so sorry she has pain...it is not an easy recovery. So cold at your corner of the world...
Sheila, thanks for the Muaaah...sounds like a Hawaiian word.
I join in the shout-outs to everyone here...it is a busy time of year.
Warm hugs....Joan -
Joan....just started snowing heren Philly......not sure if you all saw the World News last night...they showed the Eagles game in the snow..it was amazing....I saw the whole game, but the news showed just the blizzard like conditions on the field.
Now round 2......schools are closed...... -
Its 24° right now and I am freezing! Not used to this cold, we went from summer 80s directly to winter!
{{{TOL}}} -
Meece, that is called for CA! It's 8F now where I live! I've lived here for 13 years but don't think I can every get used to winters in Minnesota! -
apparently we only got 3 inches but kids were out of school, hope everyone is ok!!
-
It is supposed to begin to warm up this week, so hopefully tomorrow morning the 20s will be a thing of the past. I cannot imagine 8°! -
Meece........we had 4 inches....on top of the 8 inches from the day before........frozen solid now....and expecting more on Saturday, and my grandaughter has her 13th birthday party for family........not good....many won't drive, unless the possible change to rain comes quickly...oh well...... -
Tonight, while cooking dinner, I heard on the news that there was a new drug for breast cancer that didn't cause joint pain and hot flashes. Turned off what i was cooking to hear it. I was stunned that it was Anastrazole, the first drug that I took and was responsible for trigger thumbs and fingers as well as phenomenal joint pain. What's new about Anastrazole? Nobody asked me if I had joint pain? I watched it again and learned that this is now being promoted to prevent breast cancer in high risk women - why would they not have the same side effects?
Yes, I'm stir crazy after a week in with DD after sinus surgery - she is much, much better now though. I see a girls night out in my near future. Wish it could be with all of you! -
Wish it could be with you also diane
checking in how is everybody?
-
A get together would be such fun!
We have decided that we will head out to visit Patch and Lala for Christmas. We were waiting for some health news from DS before we made the decision. All is good so we will head out next Saturday morning.
Step kids are coming over Tuesday for their gifts. If we could afford to give gifts every month we would actually see them regularly. As it stands we see them at their birthdays (never DH's) and Christmas. It's so sad.
