Happy Thanksgiving All.
-

Ohhh the expression diamonds in the rough, that's what we are. Oh what a stretch.

I shake really bad because of my meds and my brother was visiting. It was lunch time and I poured him a glass of milk and went to hand it to him with my usual shaking hand. He said, "Oh boy! They didn't tell us we get to have milk shakes!" I about fell on the floor laughing. He always keeps me laughing.

Teri - I loved the Milk Shakes! Your brothers' humor sounds great.
I Haven't read this in a while and I just cracked up over Mzmerz comment about taking her ashes to Space Mt and letting them go on the ride. I remember my Mother, who has a warped sense of humor, laughing hysterically over an article in the newspaper (years ago) about someone who was killed on space mountain in Orlando. I was like Mom how can you laugh over someone being decapitated? That's not funny!? She sputtered" well at the beginning of the ride they tell you to take off your glasses! She probably didn't!" On that my Mom just roared... "they're off now..." Oh well what can I tell you.
My Grandma used to laugh that she wanted to be put in a Parkay Margarine tub after she was cremated. Then like the commercial, when you open it, instead of "butter" the voice would say "Mother!" (I guess that explains my Mom's sense of humor...) -
Rose that's cute hahaha I remember that commercial!!!
-
Mezmerz, I love you son's sense of humor. He must get it from you. The other day we were at an outdoor restaurant and there were some people at the bar smoking. My husband said, we have to move that is not good for you. I said what can it hurt, he did not think it was funny. No sense of humor but I have to say it anyway. Blessings -
MzMerz,
Oh god you made me LOL! I love the space mountain one! Hysterical! -
Well I'm up to 2 packs a day of second hand smoke.
-
Ladies, I just found this thread, and have been cracking up over the first 3 pages! Thank you SO MUCH for starting this, Nel!
My whole family is a bit on the wacky humor side. We always get t-shirts for our family reunion every 2 years. This year, my mom got 2 t-shirts, one that said on the back : Today you are IN the will, and the other : Today you are OUT of the will. Each of us had a t-shirt that said SHE likes ME best!
And we joke about putting masking tape with our names on items that we want after the owner has gone. I hosted Thanksgiving dinner this year, and am afraid to look around the house for those masking tape marks, as my sisters and brother all threatened to label my stuff for me!
-
Linda, Love it!!! -
just found this thread today while at treatment...made me smile and laugh! Thank you ladies! -
Love this thread. I was at my friend's house. She had a tub of margarine. I laughed. I didn't have the nerve to tell her what I was thinking... -
Lind so cute--My mom left a note and told us she assigned everything on the back and she did, As much as we loved her everything was marked for whoever she thought would like it Of course we did what we wnted anyway. She didn't want anyone to feel left out/ My mom changed her diningroom set about ever 2 yrs, so we all had (granddgtrs too) one of her sets already, that woman will never be forgotten in more ways than one. /What a character. My mom exchanged so many things always that one of the stores she shopped at returned her money and asked her to do her shopping elsewhere. Ha that didn't stop her. She even returned her carpeting after it was all laid down 2x. We always laughed at her..
-
Hello everyoneIt was reading this thread that made up my mind about joining this site. I have been laughing myself silly. Black humour is how I deal with the whole stage IV exit left thing. Luckily for me DH is as mad as I am
love and laughs to all. -
My husband and I attended an ugly sweater party at a friends house this weekend. Our friends husband had bought her a car and wanted to surprise her with it and asked us to help. My job was to distract her and somehow get her out front where everyone would be waiting and yell surprise. Sooooo, I asked her if we could talk somewhere quiet. She got very serious and said we could go to the den. When we got there I told her I would be more comfortable talking out front. She looked like she was going to cry. We got out front and she got her surprise.......she looked at me and told me she almost had a heart attack! Another friend looked at me and said....she thought you were going to give her the death talk........we laughed and laughed! Love my friends! -
hahaha I enjoy this thread too. We're sickos, but fun.

One nice thing about dying sooner rather than later is I won't have to deal with this miserable LE for many years!!!!
Truly, LE was the final straw in what I am able to endure on this journey - have had major complications and SEs at every step, multiple recurrences, and mets, still dealing with peripheral neuropathy and severe fatigue (which my first MO said should get better and I would be just fine), and LE was just the final insult. So in many ways, I am looking forward to my expiration date, not looking forward to the path, but will live each day as it comes as best I can. I have been doing that for 3 years now, I can keep doing it a little longer. And as Maxine says: "Make the most of every day. Mostly I make trouble for everyone!"
-
Oh Linda I felt like I was reading about myself at first--Oh u'll last a long time u'll see, of course not feeling very well----but the years will be adding up and I just call myself lazy and I'm proud of it, I move like a turtle awaiting the day my kids put a rabbit next to me for a race and I don't care--I have redefined falling as a trial I'm having with gravity and learned how to fall in slow motion-I'm adjusting and my LE is my reason for being overweight--oops it's my LE, my stomach is big but I told my sister to make sure she mentions I have 3 hernias there when we are with people and somehow she works it in-she is also stage IV--so we've adjusted to this horror on a silly basis. Good Luck Linda I know it's not easy
-
Camilegal, you crack me up! How does one work 3 hernias into a conversation???
BTW, are you south of I80 in IL? I grew up in east central IL, lived in Springfield for a while.
-
Linda I'm LOLing I don't know what 180 is or where I should say. But I am about 30-35 miles west of Downtown Chicago--lived around here all my life but I could not tell u or anyone how to even get here from Chicago.
-
That's I-80, Interstate 80. There is a standing joke amongst folks outside of Chicago that this is sort of the "boundary" between northern and southern IL. Like many large states with very large cities and large rural areas, there are always comments about "them" and "us" - I never really like that all that much, but there are certainly differences in cultures, and I love them both!
-
Linda, I grew up in east central Illinois, too--the Danville area. Is that near where you lived?
-
-
That put a smile on my face, Camille!
-
This is nothing great just showing how incredibly brainless I am-----I went to my Card--other related issues and we talked abut how fatigued and after all the questions he deduced it probably wasn't from my heart whew, but I did say (I couldn't think of the right word obviously) that I was not a Necrophyliac I was sure of that--he looked and LOLed then I knew I had the wrong word. I just blame chemo brain.
