leg pain

Hello

My mother is taking Arimidix. She done with chemo and surgery (BMX) Now she is going through radiation treatment. She has lot of pain in her legs . She is taking oxsicodone for pain but still her legs hurt. Any information will be helpfull.

Sorry for the late reply I just read your message. I urge you to find a doctor who is knowledgable about blood clots. The way the doctor can "see" clots is through a ultra sound (dolper) specifically to see the veins. I developed a blood clot in my leg 23 years ago (I am 45). I was on blood thinners and developed a second blood clot in my left leg and a pulmonary embolisms (PE). PEs are blood clots that go to your lungs. You can die from PEs (I lost my cousin earlier this year to a PE. He was 50).

I took my Grandma to her doctor a last year. She complained of pain in her legs and he did nothing about it. My Mom took her to another doctor the following day and they found a blood clot. Thankfully they caught it soon enough to dissolve it and it did not affect a valve in the veins.

I am overly anxious about signs of blood clots I do not mean to come off pushy.

When you say 'leg pain' what sort of pain is she having? I have had leg pain/cramps since 1/2 way through Taxol which is caused by low K (potassium) for some unknown reason.. My K level is very hard to keep up in the 'normal' range even with supplimenting it daily. So when I start feeling issues coming on I increase (with Drs approval) what I take for a few days. When I am having major issues and get woke up by the pain, a K pill will take the pain away in about 1/2 hr. Of course too much K cam cause problems also. Imbalances of minerals can also cause issues. Low magnesium can also be a problem. Easy to check levels woth a blood draw
