    Hi Ladies,

Checking in. I've been reading this thread and getting more and more ready mentally.

I had an excellent visit with my plastic surgeon and have confidence in both him and my breast surgeon. I've been getting used to the fact that I am going for a DIEP and have to say that I'm pretty darn excited about it. (when I'm not freaking out about the surgery) Based on all the options and choices, I really feel it is the right one for me. A bit scary but .... I like what I read here, quick sleep and wake up with nice soft, warm boobage. And a tummy tuck. Just show up and let the professionals do their thing...good advice.

My actual surgery "should be" within the next 6 weeks so in my mind that's what I'm preparing for even though I don't have a date yet. Trying to be active, get the blood moving, walking each day. Any other tips to prepare for the abdominal part? Thank you toronto-girl for marking where to read back for bowel prep and what to bring. I'll be reading up.

Sending love, light and courage to those with procedures this week and continuous healing and strength to us all.

    Ocean.

I just want to get rid of this TE already. I hate it soooo badly! I want my own self in that space. Will feel so good to not have a rock under my chest. Has anyone had any issues with their pec muscles not returning back to shape? I could never figure out why it went under instead of over the muscle...

movie.....if the weather wasn't so lousy today...I'd come down there and "thump ya"! No apologies needed from you....EVER!!!! You know, when I read what you've been up to, I thought to myself....good lord....she is insane! But actually, you are such an energizer bunny, that maybe being ridiculously busy has exhausted you enough that you will be able to rest and recover the way you should!!!!

I just love the thought of compression garments with pockets, so we all can be with you and sbe as you recover.. Nerdy

speaking of sbe....I am crossing absolutely everything that the rad scar revision gives you relief from those shoulder issues. You have "fought that fight" as much as you possibly can...time for some "intervention"!!!!!! Are you allowed to bring Christmas decorations into the hyperbaric chamber with you.....sing carols.....maybe a suduko or crossword puzzle???? Cannot WAIT for THOSE stories!!!!!!

Things move much slower here in the frozen north....I am getting envious of you gals getting nipples in your Christmas stockings...goldie, I agree with that nurse, 10,000%!!!! I went decades as a uni recon, without a nipple....without that finishing "step", it just never registered as a breast to me, emotionally.

goldie....our little google guru.....you are not on our list, but certainly in our hearts....I doubt if there is another lady on these entire boards, that has so many ladies from "other paths" routing for her. You know we're hopping in your pockets too!!!!!

jeannie...isn't this the week you meet up with cherrie???? Hope you two have lots of fun together!

dyvgirl....I was offered a port in my chemo days, because my veins were anything but co-operative. Like Deb, I declined. Maybe that is the same for deb.....complications of treatment/surgery, etc., doesn't necessarily mean someone hasn't been "informed".

Debdylan.......LOVE THOSE WORDS!!!!!!!!! So true for so many "parts" of life!!!! Stay "hopeful" re: the hormonal tx se's. Yes, unfortunately for many, they can make things tough, but not necessarily the scenario for absolutely everyone. You are one strong lady, kudo's for signing up for every "self defense" you are offered. Once you are through the chemo, I bet you find it easier to reset your focus to good nutrition and exercise. Exercise is more and more being shown to be our best defense against so many things, not JUST bc, and for many people, brings a "healthier lifestyle" as a side effect. Put those things together, along with "time post surgery" and the final "tweaks"....I bet you find yourself a whole lot more satisfied with your body and your life. Again....your saying rings true...I look at my post recon body like a brand new house....looks good now...but I need to keep up with the proper "maintenance" for it to stay that way.

bailey.......WHAT THE HEY?????? So sorry to hear about that re-opening....slather on that honey, up your protein...crap, girl!!!!!! Is this in an area that is going to be revised at your next stage anyway???? Maybe it's just some tissue that is wanting it's last "hurrah"!

janet...so great of you to mentor the toronto gang......hmmm.....are you truly willing to share that yummy PS of yours???

Gotta get busy.....hugs to everyone.....have good days.

OceanWarrior, I did a lot of squats before surgery so I could use my legs easier when getting up from the recliner, etc. I think it really helped. Just don't let your bent knees pass your toes. I'm so glad you are finding good information and advice here! These ladies are the greatest and kindest.

Nihahi, yes I will be meeting Cherrie and her husband in about half an hour! They are coming here to our home and then we (my DH too) will go to lunch on the waterfront, right next to where the ferries load and unload. We are in for a chilly but bright day. I'm excited!

dyvgirl, I had TEs for fifteen months, through chemo and rads, before DIEP. I understand your discomfort. My pecs did indeed bounce right back.

Sorry, Nihahi, no. This Ivar's is in our small town of Mukilteo. There is a beach, a park, a small pier and a lighthouse there.

Let me know how the weather is down there! Will be going down for some birthday / Christmas shopping next weekend. A much much needed break from the subzero temps we have up here. Will be so nice to get away and clear my head, spend some one on one with the hubs. Speaking of Seattle, has anyone had any experience with the Cancer Treatment Center of America down there? Just curious. I've only heard one patient say shed never go to one again but I never asked why or where...

there is no way I am going to catch up. Had my girls and a few friends over for the long weekend and I am just getting back to normal. I love seeing my kids, I love when they are here but they are soooooo messy. They were a big help with the cooking but not the cleaning.

Just wanted to send calm healing vibes to movie, Goldie, torontogirl, Sbe and marieann! Will be thinking of you all.

    Have fun cherrie and jeannine!

Deb, glad to hear they caught it quickly before it did too much damage. You have such a great attitude! Just one more and you're done. Hang in there! I had to laugh when you talked about being without boobs, hair, eyelashes and eyebrows. I tell my kids that this journey has been God testing my vanity! Who would have thought I would be so happily sporting hair 1/2 inch long?

    Gulp !!

I was out running errands and my surgeons office called. I'm booked for Dec 11th....that's next Wednesday. Good grief I had no idea it could be so soon. Will need to be on the fast track for getting ready. Upside...not too much time to think about it.

Okay, I need to breathe...and get ready for my oncologist appt. this afternoon.

Dyvgirl, it is cold for us this week thanks to a cold front from the gulf of Alaska, ironically, but warmer than where you are. I am not aware of a Cancer Center of America Center here. I saw a negative news report on them once, though. I was treated at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance which is comprised of U of W hospital, Seattle Children's Hospital and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. They are well-regarded as far as I know.

Cherrie and her husband, Tony are great! We had such a good time with them. I will post a photo soon.

    Good news for you, Ocean!

DebDylan, I love your comment, "You cannot win if you do not play!" Even though all of us were forced into this game of breast cancer, we will suit up and play it through with all the strength we can muster, & cheer on each other on the sidelines. You made me think of some inspirational quotes from athletes & coaches, so I found us a few:

Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. Michael Jordan

The game is scheduled, I have to play, so I might as well win. Bill Russell

Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up. Dean Karnazes

You learn you can do your best even when its hard, even when you’re tired and maybe hurting a little bit. It feels good to show some courage. Joe Namath

It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up. Vince Lombardi

Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out. John Wooden

You're never a loser until you quit trying. Mike Ditka

Look for your choices, pick the best one, then go with it. Pat Riley

The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That's real glory. That's the essence of it. Vince Lombardi

It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it. Lou Holtz

Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out. John Wooden

The only place you can win a football game is on the field, the only place you can lose it is in your hearts. Darrell Royal

Every strike brings me closer to the next home run. Babe Ruth

Toughness is in the soul and spirit, not in muscles. Alex Karras

You win some, you lose some, and some get rained out, but you gotta suit up for them all. J. Askenberg

Some people focus on what they're going through; champions focus on what they are going to. Grant M. Bright

Winners never quit, and quitters never win. Vince Lombardi

    greetings!

I wanted to share bra info. Goldie, I don't recall if the bra I am posting is the one you always talk about. I only have 2 bras I can wear at the moment, and am usually too lazy to go check the number you post against the bra I'm not wearing!

Anyhow, Bali 3463 is wireless and comfy

Warner 2036 is the other I can wear comfortably.

I happened to find decent prices on www.barenecessities.com and they currently have free shipping.

deb.. I just had a small implant placed under my flap but above my muscle. I'm hoping that makes it more comfortable. I have much better symmetry now and I'm waiting for it to loosen up a little bit. I had my AC without a port too. They were extremely careful putting my IV in each time and I made it thru.

Inner thigh lipo ladies... Can you tell me how long you wore compression? I am so sick of compression garments and bras. I feel like I want to scream!

I so want to buy a nice new bra and I keep saying I will when this is over after the next surgery. I think I'm going to quit waiting for the end and just go buy one. Gotta live today!

Mammalou- you don't want to ask Marty and I that question. I had my inner thigh lipo done 10 weeks ago and am still in surgical compression. My doctor asked for 6 months. My goal is 4 months and then 12 hour days or nights. I am going to Florida for February and don't want it on then. Our doc seems to be the strictest with this. I think most girls have it on for 2-12 weeks.

Mammalou... 2 weeks minimum... Then you can sleep without the compression, but for best results, wear it as long as possible. I think I went 6 weeks the first time, and 4 weeks the next time... I am on my third time, had a little inner thigh this time, but plan to bail at about 4 weeks.

what exactly does the inner thigh compression accomplish? What's really bothering me isn't the spanx on my legs, but the spanx on my abdomen. I'm having bloating/swelling issues in my ab still and it is just so uncomfortable. I was really stressing in Vegas from discomfort and then I think of my elevated liver enzymes, and then you know where that all goes. All downhill. My nurse DD showed me a picture of a person who really had ascites just to make me feel better. Lol. It's funny how you know you're being nuts but you still keep being nuts.

WARNING VENT COMING I have been in cancer center twice now. Last Wed-Fri for cellulitis on my right side. I thought I had it beat but my temperature keep going into fever mode. I saw the MO this morning and am back in. Ultrasound showed mass of liquid right in the center of the breast(that isn't there lol). They are doing a needle biopsy tomorrow and hopefully get rid of this red angry mass. ugh. And I thought easy-breezy until Feb. 2014. I am so tired of this BC drama!! Now they are talking about a PIC line===crap!! Other than this, I am okay.

Hey, Sheri, we'll be Wilbur-mates! My revision surgery is on the 6th too. We can eat ice cream in the recovery room together, ok?

Jeannie, I wish I could blast up there and ride the ferry with you. It's one of my favorite things to do. Do you ever see orca pods? We watched "Blackfish" with the kids last Friday and it was a chilling commentary on killer whales in captivity. Made me very sad.

    Welcome home, Nihahi!

I currently have two bras (excluding sports bras) that I can wear. I've been putting off going for new ones, because I know my noobs will be shaped differently after this next surgery. One's a D-cup, and one's a C-cup, not including the armpit boobage. I want them both to be generous B-cups, without the armpit stuff. Like my husby says...anything more than a mouthful is a waste, anyway.

With the temperature dipping into the 60's around here, I dug into my cedar chest for some sweaters. To my horror, I found my cedar chest had been invaded with wool-munching moth larvae. Almost ALL my beautiful wool sweaters, skirts, and trousers have a least one hole, and most of them are ruined. My husby said it's a sign from the Lord to stop buying clothes. I was surprised to learn that storing wool in a cedar chest is no guarantee it'll be safe.

My sister's doing much better. All those shots of antibiotic in her heiney are fixing her cellulitis. Thanks for all your good vibes heading her way! I hope she never gets it again, but if she does, she'll know what it is--not a quickly spreading, hot, red "bruise."

Four more sleeps until the big fix. Maybe I can get the Christmas cards addressed during my week off?...

    Happy Monday, everyone!

sbe.....tell Jerry it's a sign to go buy new clothes!!!!! So glad to hear the good news about your sis.....!

I'm with you.....a good sized B will be fine with me! Also, I'm holding off on the bra shopping too, until I know what to shop for.

Still snowing and blowing here.....current windchill is -27, and some nutcase is running up and down our road on a snowmobile...I guess he's going with the "if you can't beat it.....join it" theory!

Sharon, great list of inspirational quotes. Love it!!!

Okay Movie, we got this tomorrow. See you in Wilbur land.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I couldn't have gotten here without all you ladies cheering me on through all of my trials. Thank you. Much love. See you on the squishy side, as they say on the implant threads.

Hello to all the newbies. You have come to the right place. When I can concentrate better ( had an Ativan cocktail tonight) I will catch up with everybody.
