My subject says it all. I have had 3 fills so far and my skin is very shinny. I am hoping to get one last fill and my surgeon seems to agree to that. I am just wondering about the skin being to thin since it is this shinny. She said that we woukd do fat grafting too to smooth out the edges, but still. I would love to hear from others with similar experience. When did you surgeon say they couldn't fill up the expander anymore?

No personal experience as I had one step implants. You might want to ask the mods to modify the thread title to read "shiny" instead of shinny if that's what you meant to say. That way you may get more responses. If you did mean shinny. I am unfamiliar with what that means with respect to TE's.

No problem, Camillia. It's a miracle that anyone can spell in English. Please ask the moderators to correct the spelling on the thread title and you may get some more responses.

My surgeon told me that he used a 450-500cc tissue expander at the time of my mastectomy so I knew ahead of time what the maximum fill would be. I've had three fills and after each fill my skin was really shiny, then after a week or so the shine went away as my skin stretched.

I wouldn't worry about the shiny skin, it doesn't necessarily mean your skin is thin, or too thin to continue the fills. You can ask your doctor what size of tissue expander she gave you.

I really need to ask details about my TE next time I see my PS. One more week before my next fill. My skin is a little less shiny, but I think that next fill was going to be my last anyways. Thanks for your replies and thanks to the moderators for fixing the thread title!

Your expander can be filled beyond its stated capacity - the forward facing shell of the TE is pretty flexible.  Mine were overfilled by 100cc - part of the decision making behind the TE choice is your anatomy, as they come in a height and width as well as total cc measurement.  Tissue expanders are medical devices and come with identification cards that give the details on their sizing, as well as their serial numbers.  This information is on a card that comes with the TE and should have been given to you at the time of placement.  At the very least, your PS should have a copy of the card in your medical file, and the facility where your surgery was done should have the same info.

I was given not such card Scared  I knew they came with the implants, but didn't think they also had them with the TE's. Thanks for the info!

Anything implanted in your body is considered a medical device and comes with a serial number that is unique.  All medical devices have the info cards - it is just a question of whether anyone at the hospital remembers to give it to you.  This information is always contained in your surgical report in medical records at the hospital (which you can obtain) or in your physician's file in their office.

Hi...looking for some info. My PS said my skin was too shiny and too stretched and she won't do anymore fills. I'm tall and thin, an A/B cup before but was hoping to get to a full B. I'm only st 330 cc. If I wait a couple weeks do you think I could do a another fill? My PS didn't want to push it but I kinda feel like she's rushing me since she's changing practices. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
