December 2011 Surgeries - want to wait together?

Blessings hello to you! Thats a tough question for you. I guess I would lean toward another AI. You already know that Arimidex is tough on you. Try something else now. If its worse you can always get back on Arimidex. Good luck. I do hope we get more updates too. Much love! -
Not surgery in December and half marathon in January -- this time. I did a half marathon 6 weeks after my DIEP December 2011 though. Slowest half-marathon time I've ever had, but prouder of that medal than any of them! I hadn't run a step between surgery and the day I flew to Disneyland, but I even ran about 5km of it.
THIS December, I just call for getting on the OR schedule in January or February, so that I can actually train until the run, and my recuperation will be at a more convenient time for me.
I agree with the comment that physiotherapy should be standard orders. I am STILL going every other week, working on strengthening a bunch of different small muscles to balance out the very tight abdominal area post DIEP, and unkinking the shoulders where they take the toll from my wonky posture and the stupid numb node area and occasional LE swelling (chest not arm). Between the physio and the psych, surgery is probably the smallest part of my treatment time! -
Hello all. I haven't been to the site in I don't know how long. I do, however, think of you all often and with positives thoughts and hopes that you are all doing well. You've all been such a source of support during a time and with an issue that no matter how hard they try, others just don't understand.
I am doing well and have to say, with some reservation, or maybe it's fear, that I am healthier now than I have been in a long time. I got my head on straight and addressed my weight problem... 46 pounds later I'm almost there. Started running in May, never have before and have run four 5ks so far. I'm looking to train for a half marathon next year, maybe. We'll see if my knees hold up. I do have spme shoulder issuese that Ii never had before bmx but I work through it. Other then that, I'm just thankful for every day. My mind still wanders. With my job, I'm a CT tech,I see things that make me uneasy. But I redirect and move on.
Hope all are well and continue to stay that way. Thanks again for being there. Remember, I may not visit hear too often, but you all are in my thoughts and prayers. -
I am in awe of what do many of you accomplished in the past year. Im still limping along with my cane. LOL. But happy news. My DH is taking me out to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We are going to Bacchus. Its oretty high class. Ill let you know! -
Hey chrissilini congratulations on such success!
Nice to see other people getting benefit out of running, no matter what pace. Check us out on the BCO running thread!
Happy anniversary moonflwr912! -
Hi All! Hard to believe it's been 2 years since we all joined this group! Life has certainly changed for me, mostly for the good. I recuperated wonderfully from my lumpectomy (which turned into more of a partial mastectomy) and made it through radiation although it kicked my butt, don't remember ever being that tired! I'm on the tamoxifen which I hate - way too many joint pains and muscle cramps but way better than cancer so I'm staying on it for the long run. I'm having an MRI on my hip on the 9th to rule out any metastasis - I've been having pretty bad pain in the hip that we are hopping is just bursitis.
I'm amazed at what some of you have been through in the past 2 yrs and in awe of all of your strength. I think of you all often and pray for everyone daily!
Happy Holiday's!!

Kayce, good hearing from you. Yep 2 years. Wow. I am finally having my exchange surgery in Dec. So more than 2 years to reconstruction. My P'S will be happy when I'm done LOL -

Hello evefykne! Having my exchange this Fruday! Yay! Much love. -
Moonflwr - will be thinking of you on Friday.... Happy for you!!! -
Kayce - I saw your other post about the good (bad) news on your hip. Congrats on having bursitis!! I hope that is treatable. Stories like this are always good to read (and I hadn't made a connection between those posts and you being in our December group until coming her).
Moonflwr - I hope your surgery went well. You are probably home and recovering now?
Hugs to all -
Home and feeling pretty good! -
Yay, Moonflwr!!!! Wishing you a comfortable evening... and a rapid and complete healing!!!!! -

Have any of you that have had bmx with implants had a mammo since surgery? I had to reschedule my appointment with my Annika check with my breast surgeon and they told me mammo first and then I'd see her. Kind of doesn't make sense to me.
Hope everyone is having a peaceful holiday season!
-
Hi,Kam170, Ginger48, Janie-bug, Kayce234!!! Hope your holidays were good!
Hi, Chrissilini!!!!
A mammo on your implants? Good grief... all I can imagine is all that saline in mine popping like big ol' balloons!!!!! An MRI, maybe.....
And maybe they DO mammo silicone? I've just never heard of it.
Is it possible that the person you spoke to thought you were a Uni?
Let us know what they say, and if this is a common procedure....
-
Love seeing this thread still kicking - I can't even find my Chemo group (with a heavy search). Happy New Year back at you Blessings and to all that are still around.

Kayce - I've never been told to get a Mammogram with implants. Basically, it's manual/visual inspection, that's it (and I barely get that from my MO, so am wondering if that's outside of her domain - you'd think not). My implants are silicone.
-
I'll definitely let you know what I find out. Unfortunately I don't go until March! I have a co-worker with bc as well, she's going for a ultrasound for a possible pec tear and is going to ask them about it. I plan to do some research too.
-
Let us know what you find out.
Today my nose started running. I think it's a cold. Haven't had one for 3 years. Have a slight fever of 99.6. Keep hoping that's all it is. Sigh. Sucking on vitamin C tablets and zinc.

Kam170, I love the kitty in your avatar!
Hi everyone!
chrissilini, I did DIEP not implant, but no mammo for me either. Just a thorough groping once a year. They said of course, while there could be a breast tissue cell here or there, the "breast tissue" was for all intents and purposes gone so a mammo would have no purpose. Remember, a mammo is X-rays, and exposure to the radiation dose would need to be justified by the health benefit of detection. For stray breast tissue cells, it seems the benefit is unlikely to justify that exposure.
I'm finally ready for touch-up surgery but no date booked yet. Secretary keeps icing me. No rush, but gee, finally I am ready and they're not! Irony!
-
hi blessings- nice to hear from you.
Moonflwr-hope you are feeling better!
Chrissilini- I get checked (lol to whoever said groped)by my breast surgeon and my onc every 6 months but no mammo's, etc. I have silicone.
Happy New Year to all my December sisters!

Hi There - Anyone been put on Lovenox shots for blood clots? I had a ganglion cyst removed from my hand and the IV was put in my foot because they were operating on my right hand and my cancer was on the left. I ended up with a clot that goes from my big toe up past my knee into my thigh area. They've taken me off the Tamoxifen for a month and put me on Lovenox shots for 14days to start - seems to be working but the Lovenox is kicking my butt! My stomach is a huge purple mess - looks like I had a bleed all through my stomach area, I've been nauseaus and exhausted and have had a constant headache. Wondering if anyone else has gone through this and if the side effects end when the shots stop.
Also curious if anyone has gone of the Tamox and then back on - did you have any side effects or problems???
-
Hi, Kayce234!
Glad you got your ganglion cyst removed (I had huge one removed a few years ago) but SOOO sorry you had complications with the blood clot!
No, haven't had any experience with Lovenox or Tamoxifen... just wanted to say I hope you recover quickly and feel better soon.
Sending you big gentle hugs!!!
-
Kayce- I have no experience with that either but sending healing thoughts your way.
-
kaycee. Sorry, I have a ganglion cyst but never had surgery. You might try starting a new thread to ask your question about blood clots and/or Lovenox.
-
Just wanted to wish all of you ladies a very Happy Valentine's Day!!!

-
It's a day for pampering! If no one does it for you, pamper YOURSELVES! Happy Valentine's Day!
