Pathology report after mesetctomy

I had mastectomy on nov 1 on right breast.


I have triple negative breast cancer stage 1 size 1.5 cm


Clear 5 mm margin


They told me I need chemo


My pathology report before surgery said I have three lumps , all three size 1 cm


but after surgery thy found 1.5 cm cancer and the rest was cystic changes


I called my doctors and they will call me


Now I am thinking can I trust the report


Anyone who has same issue?

    it is not uncommon for the pathology report after surgery to differ from a biopsy report. The biopsy looks at a small sampling whereas the surgical path report looks at all of the removed tissue. The surgical path report is what treatment recommendations will be based on. Wishing you the best.

    Your prognosis sounds better than anticipated, assuming your lymph nodes are negative; one cancerous lesion is better than 3, and 5 mm margins are actually good. chemotherapy is recommended because of the invasive stage. If you are not comfortable with recommendations or report interpretation get a second opinion, and if possible try to get your chemo at a major cancer center. Good luck with your treatment!
