Relocated - so glad to hear it. I had a positive experience with her. Glad you have too. Where are you having your treatments done? I am in Loudoun County.
Anyone on this board starting rads? I think I start December 2nd. Hoping to have the whole nasty business finished by the end of the year. -
mfm - I just finished rads this week! 32 doses (28 regular, 4 boosts). -
congrats McKatherine!!! -
Congrats on finishing rads McKatherine.
Relocatedtarheel, so glad you found a doctor who is listening to you. Hope your treatment goes smoothly now and is gentler on you...

I saw Dr. Denduluri yesterday for the first time. I stayed with Dr. Robert during active treatment because medically he was competent but I never liked him. Now that I'm in the follow up phase, I decided to change.
I'm glad I did. I found Dr. D to be as competent as Robert and she was great interpersonally. She listened, was compassionate, and didn't rush me. She explained things to me clearly and never condescended. She's a keeper. Glad I finally changed. Should have done so earlier.
Hugs,
Peggy -
will have my first chemo on 12/4/2013 taxotere, carboplation and Herceptin every 3 weeks for 6 treatments and then a year of the Herceptin every 3 weeks the day after each chemo have to go and get a shot of neulasta has anyone else had this mix of chemo...Scared to death about the first time and worried that my port is not going to work or that the chemo is going to go into the wrong place guess that could be because I am still sore from the Mastectomy (Both) Friday had a checkup with the surgeon and she said all was looking good and she would see me in 6 months ..anyone else have this fear before they started chemo.. -
Edith, my wife had the same treatment protocol (with a port). She hit the 3 year NED mark in October and is doing great. I wish you the best with your treatment. Just focus on the fact that you are over the hump now that the surgery is over. -
Thanks will have to remember this. -
edith-I was terrified! But I promise it wasn't as bad as I feared. I too had fears about my port...I still do sometimes. They will flush your port before they start anything and test it...they will make sure it works properly. I still get anxious before my treatments...but its kind of going in labor for me...I knew I had to do it and there was a finite ending to it so scared or not I had to go through with it! :-). Take a tour of the facility before hand...that helped.me a lot. -
Relocated Tarheel: how's it going with your new onc? -
mary-I like her so far. My treatment a week and a half ago was a bit better...I felt horrible for 6 days but didn't throw up. I'm 25% through chemo now...just trying not to freak out about the next one. I have my first appt with her NP on Tuesday, I'll be interested to see how that goes. -
But you are 50% through AC and that is the worst! -
<<< Reminder >>>>>
Our next luncheon is next Saturday December 7th at the Cheesecake Factory in FairOaks mall. Please RSVP by next Tuesday! Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving.
-
I did take a tour on the 18th what upset me was everyone was lined up in front of a window which remined me of a nursing home or a production line...yes we all are there for a reason..will just wait and see what happens that day wish my DR was going to be in the office when I get it done but he will be at his other office in Reston..He is only a phone call away is what the nurse said... -
Odie-I'll be there -
odie -- I'll be there too along with one friend. What time are we meeting? -
Lunch at noon on December 7th. Is Jennifer coming? Sending healing thoughts her way .....
-

I had my exchange surgery on Monday and all went well. I expect to join you for lunch on the 7th. Thanks Odie, as always, for organizing. Looking forward to seeing you all. -

I still feel horrible; a week since my last chemo and have a low grade fever so I probably won't be at lunch tomorrow :-( -
Relocated,
So sorry you are not feeling well. Rest up and hope it is better soon! -
Relocatedtarheel,

Ladies-- it was great to see you all on Saturday. Hope everyone is bundled up at home today relaxing and watching the snow! -
Thanks the port worked just fine and everyone was so nice and took there time to let me know each step they were doing... -
edith...glad the.port worked like a charm! I had my last A/C friday and I am off of the IV at home antibiotics. I feel like crap and now I'm scared to death of what the taxol will be like... -
Relo...Taxol is not nearly as bad. So glad you've had your last A/C and that's behind you. -
Hi
Not Northern VA, but Charleston WV. Finished Taxol, and will finish Combo Chemo. In January. Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester in Feb. 2014.
Can I help with your fear of Taxol? None of this is fun, but most people do much better than they think they will do. I bet you will too!
We will all get through this together!
