Kicking LE's butt!! Exercise & Self Care Log

Um..... just checking in to admit................. that I substituted walking for a chocoloate bar . Oops. Spank me! -
Hugz, so long as you lifted that chocolate bar at least 100 times while breathing deeply, I think you're just fine. -
Oh what a good laugh Carol I just had. Your funny. Yup. I was breathing in deeply but only to get that chocolatey smell. You see, I am practicing for the" Unwrap A Bar Event" then use chocolate bar wrap for " Make It Snappy, Wrappy Your Swollen Fingers Event". I am doing really good in this Olymphic event and when I get depressed about LE I just smell my chocolate bar wrapped fingers and get happy again! -
I think we need to start a new thread called Olymphics Events and compile our many wonderful events in one place! Winter Olymphics will be here before you know it! -
I like that Idea, but I gotta get off these threads because your bringing the best or should I say the worst out of me Carol! You got me in a humourous mood and I am all bymself with no one to joke with but you. Must hop into car before everyone thinks I am crazier than I really am. Facing rushhour with no chocolate bars beside me. Just empty wrappers. -
I just ate a chocolate square, out of sympathy for your empty-wrapper syndrome. Mine's 86% cacao. Does that make it health food? -
Chocolate is made from a bean, therefore it is a vegetable, and vegetables are healthy...so, yes, Carol, it is a health food We call the dark chocolate Ghiradelli squares medicine at our house. Take one daily. -
...umm...I think the proper dose on those Ghiradelli squares is two, two times daily... -
laurel, Ok I would love some chocolate beans for dinner tonight! I'll let my doc know that I am eating my veg daily,
Carol Well if it's Ghiradelli, then the dose is twice , two times daily for sure, but......if we are having a flare.....then it is double the dose. I feel a flare coming on strong. Don't know when but it is coming so I better prepare my meds
Must run out and purchase chocolate before flare hits
Did you hear that at the Olymphics the medals are made out of chocolate. -
Hugz, I was planning to stay on the Olymphics sidelines, but now that you've clarified that we're working for chocolate medals...outta my way, girls...I'm goin' for it!
I just finished an hour of working out with weights followed by 40 minutes of good quality, heart-thumping cardio. Now I think I'll have a sliver of pumpkin pie to celebrate! -
I love how this thread is morphing into a reward program. Just put the pumpkin pie in front of my treadmill. Whipped cream on top? Yes please. -
I used to cycle with a club who did great local trips on weekends, one of the trips was called the "cupcake ride" and they always stopped midway for a snack....their moto "we ride to eat", good group and great workout!
so we workout....to eat! -
That's why the 5 mile Turkey Trot is on my docket for Thanksgiving morning...then I feel like I can eat with less guilt. And if I exercise first, I find I have less desire to overindulge in eating as well...a win, win. Now if the snowflakes would just stay away that day it may even be fun. -
Ok, I am happy to report that I just got in from 2 hours of yard work in the beautiful sunshine. I am counting it as exercise because I am totally worn out, I can't scrape my butt off the couch to even get a drink of water. Well.....Maybe if someone dangled a piece of pumpkin pie in front of me I just might be able to move. -
We would simply not be human if we did not prize a luscious morsel from time to time. I'm pleased to report that I am a card-carrying human... -
I KICKED LE SO HARD IN THE BUTT with a power walk that my LE in my trunk stopped pinching me................... HA HA...THERE YOU GO YOU STUPID LE. GOTTCHA GOOD!
Going to kick more butt on a beach walking vacation this week. -
...beach walking vacation! I'm insanely jealous! Have outrageous fun, don't even THINK of looking at a computer, and I cannot wait to hear how many beach miles you walked, when you are back home and ready to report in again! (We have a few inches of snow here, just to make you feel even better about heading to the beach. Wait..I forgot...you have not clarified if that beach is a warm beach! Whatever...it's a beach!!)
My exercise report today: none! I had a mole removed on my LE arm this morning and decided that it was enough drama for the arm, drawing lymph to the area, and that exercise on top of that would be just asking for a big flare. Tomorrow I will re-evaluate and hopefully do a good hour of cardio. -
No hot beach here. Cabining near whidbey island.
Carol, that was smart taking that mole off. I would have done it too. Maybe wait a couple days to watch the fluid accumulation. -
Sunday we went with the grandsons to the Portland Children's Symphony - DSIL doesn't like crowds so when they bought the season tickets they got seats 3 stories up LOL All Stairs.. Great seats actually. [He also knew that I didn't like crowds]. I definitely got my exercise!!! - wish the dizzy would have gone.. I was stopping holding on to the wall every once in a while but made it - Oh and the parking garage was a half mile away up and down the Portland hills.. So.... I did get some exercise on Sunday..
-
hey Hugs....you give the H to that LE and show it who is boss! great for you! -
gmafoley, that's the kind of exercise that's so, so worth doing--get's you someplace you really want to be! Good for you! -
5 mile Turkey Trot in 20 degree weather, then a wonderful turkey dinner with the family. Each mile we had to share something we were thankful for...we could have gone many more miles with our blessings....very thankful for another year full of God's grace and joy. Happy Thanksgiving to each of you! -
GmaFoley, where was the symphony? We went to a concert at the Rose Garden a while back, and I had gotten seats in the nosebleed section, well when we walked out the little opening, I couldn't move (vertigo), the usher said not to go to the seat if I didn't think that I would be able to get out because they frequently have to call EMS to sedate someone to get them out of their seat - anyway, apparently they reserve some small blocks of seats for just this occasion, we had to go to the ticket office, and of course pay extra, but got amazing, almost front row seats. Just an FYI!! Sounds like a great time! -
Hoping you all had a great Thanksgiving. My self-care was seriously neglected as I hosted my entire family - arm is achy achy achy, about a cm larger at all levels, I am exhausted, but am SO HAPPY that I was able to have my family here while I am feeling relatively good. I got 2 holidays done with one as I did all my Christmas shopping online and had boxes ready to send home with everyone as they left. SO: I now have a couple of months without anticipated visits to focus on taking care of the stupid LE and the whole body (well, I really SHOULD be holistic about it - they ARE all connected parts, after all!). Have been doing the Lebed opening almost every day except the last 2 or 3. Back on the wagon tomorrow as everyone headed home today. I am so envious of you who are able to do a Turkey trot or do serious gardening for a couple of hours, and am committed to being able to do that again, but getting there is so tedious and frustrating - I want to be able to do it NOW .... so tomorrow will try the pacing myself and activities again .... Thanks for being here! -
Ok, we are all done with the fancy foods that I ate on my trip and the mouth party is OVER!
Did some pretty beach walks and saw some red sunsets, Didn't burn off all the calories I ate but kept the fat monster at bay a bit.
Did lebeds opening, tai chi breathers and just back from 45 min walk. While walking briskly, I spotted out of my direct vision field something crumpled and tan colored on the ground and immediately muttered to myself. "oh dear, someone dropped their compression glove. As I approached it to have a better look I noticed it was a crumpled up tan colored maple leaf......Just goes to show you that LE is daily lurking somewhere in the recesses of our brains if not up front and center. I should have known better because I never see people out west wearing LE garments.
-
Hugz, what a hoot! The opposite can happen too, and a glove can be mistaken for something insignificant. I knew a woman a few years ago whose glove got tossed by a "helpful" friend who decided to surprise her by straightening her desk. She found it in a heap on her desk and assumed it was junk. Pretty pricey mistake…
Hugs,
Binney -
Yikes, that's a scary thought (someone mistaking a glove for trash)!
Hugz, glad you're back from your trip and I hope it was really grand.
These past days I stuck to my weightlifting routines and did just enough cardio to hold my head up high and say I exercised. I'm finding it harder and harder to fall in love with idea of cardio every day. Oddly, the lifting still beckons me. -
Binney, Oh my, the trash… that is awful. Only stale bandages and worn gauze needs to go there. Well.. my fairly new glove that smells like old rank onion could go into the trash but not quite yet. Every time I hold it up to my nose I punish myself for not wearing a plastic glove over it when cutting the onion. It stinks like my kids old gym socks.
Carol. I rather do cardio then weights. The trip was grand but now it is back to the butt kicking grind. I have pretty much vowed that I need to kick it up a bit more. Now if I could just get my energizer batteries working. -
I am with you Hugz, rather do cardio but know I must do the weights as well. Had my trainer give me rules....as in must to weights 3 times a week, with cardio in between. But I do sneak in the pool every visit to the gym! course my hair is not happy and may need to find a bathing cap that fits my dang head -
Not doing much right now - Pain doc it dropping dose on one of my pain meds. If I stay quiet, it won't hurt as bad... Maybe..
