Sorry gals... just very frustrated! I went for my 2 year mammogram today and after additional films and an ultrasound - guess who is having a biopsy on Friday? All of my docs up until this point have agreed that a lump on my lumpectomy side is scar tissue.. the plastic surgeon.. my gyn... my MO... and the NP at my breast center. The radiologist said it looked "different" on today's films than it did last year. Hmmpf! He did say he thinks it could be fat necrosis but wants "to prove it". Does this crap ever end?! Seriously?!

    another dammit! I was just at my hopefully very last visit with onc, one I had never met (as she usually does research at our cancer centre but does do follow-up clinics as well) and I too have to have a stoopid CT scan in a few weeks and why? well, she told me that she didn't believe I really have to have the ct (3rd follow-up on an unchanged granule on lung, discovered when I had a ct scan after they found a very slightly enlarged lympbh node on a mammogram and tested me to the nth degree, culminating in the dissection of 6 nodes from under my "good" armpit, when it was all due to the rash from hell I'd had)) and in fact it gets so the radiation's effects outweigh the bc risk, but since I was booked I might as well do it. she also said she was pretty much kicking me out after 5 yrs and also no need for arimidex after january.

    She told me it's often radiologist-driven - they see something, they tell the dr., the dr feels obligated, or some such round-and-round event. There's a point, she said, where the anxiety and rads outweigh the possible benefit. so on we go. Very, very much hoping it's nothing! for you and for me. and each time one of these scans comes up, we go, at least at times, back to that crappy place of fear. we want to scream "Leave me alone!" - at least, I do.     I received a call from the radiologist today.... b9!!! Whew... even though everyone has always told me it was scar tissue, it sure was nice hearing those words. I understand why the radiologist was taking the extra step, now we have actual proof it's just scar tissue.

    So happy to hear it turned out OK! I'm in the same boat and scared to death. Ultrasound d scheduled for Monday.
