I heard back about my biopsy I had yesterday. It is cancer. I will find out this afternoon what type and the suggested treatment.


WOW! It was hard telling my family...most of whom live so far away.


I couldn't face this alone and so my thanks to this wonderful forum and my new sisters in the fight!!!

    I am so sorry. I was just diagnosed on Wednesday. Still trying to adjust. I have an appointment on Monday to find out exactly what type and what my options are. I will be praying for you. You are not alone in this.

    AndreaJ50 - so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. This is a tough time, so please try to stay calm until you hear what your plan of action is going to be.


    Our minds tend to take us to all sorts of scary places, yet sometimes, knowledge really is power.


    Make sure to take really good notes, and if you aren't in a place where you can do that, take an extra set of ears for that.


    Slowly, things will begin to make sense for you.


    No matter what you face, someone here has already walked that path before you. You're never alone here... so please come back and post when you have more details.

    This is a hard time, for sure. Waiting to hear the diagnosis & treatment is so hard. BUT once you have that information and your treatment plan things will get better.........promise. You know what you're dealing with then.


    Treatment isn't kind.......it's hard......but it is worth it. Don't google............just take the treatment.......and you'll soon be on the other side.

    thank you everyone. I am remarkably calm now. When I first went into the surgeon's office I was told I had an in situ and infiltrating ductal carcinoma with moderate to good differentiation. Then I found out it had estrogen and progesterone receptors. No word on her-2 yet.


    I can book surgery for mid December but I need to decide between mastectomy and lumpectomy.


    It's a lot to take in.


    Once I broke the news to my love ones it was easier to deal with. Now it's my new normal.

    i think we both are in similar boat...i am also waiting on the her-2.


    i don't have a choice, my doc said she can't save my breast because of the size of the lump vs size of my small boob. i also can't imagine if i had the lumpectomy, how possible to have mammo down the road, due to my small boobs.


    it's a very personal choice when given. weight all the pros and cons and feel good about it. my doc told me, even with mastectomy, they can only remove 97% of the breast tissue and still 3% left there. i didn't know that and thought i could share.

    Andrea and Dancermom- virtual hugs to both of you. So glad you found this site and these forums. There is so much information and support that it really starts to feel like you can manage it when you see so many others who are.


    What you decide to do surgery-wise is an individual decision and don't feel rushed to go one way or another- you can say yes you want surgery scheduled and what type of surgery will be what you decide.
