Hi all , its been quite a while since I checked in here. I am 6 years down the line and it is time for my annual mammogram on my remaing breast next . I guess what I am looking for here is just some positive encouragement . Every year I have massive anxiety attacks the 2 weeks before my regular mammo. First of all my original diagnosis was Stage 1 8CM DCIS with a 4MM infiltrating ( tiny right??)  , Every thing was on the low grade or slow side ( mitosis slow etc ) no lymph involvement   I elected for a masectomy no re construction . I had no radiation no chemo just 5 year followup with Arimidex,  I might also add I had a full MRI,  as part of the hospital I went to protocol. every organ and lymph node was fine. Compared to most smooth sailing . I have had a annual exam every year since with no issues on the remaining breast.  I cannot explain why but I am just NUTS for the 2 weeks prior . I wake up in sweats , knock things off nightstand while thrashing in my sleep. Refuse to make any plans for anytime after the date of the mammo until it is over " in case" This includes Thanksgiving and Christmas I am a nervous wreck and drive everyone around me crazy . I try to do soothing things ( go to massage , practice positive thoughts , etc ) The thought of my body turning on me again just keeps replaying . I can be totally absorbed in a TV show or conversation and WHAM out of the blue comes this thought and there I go again. HELP

Hang in there. You're not crazy. Maybe next year you can change the dates so you can enjoy the holidays. That's what I did before my diagnosis. Good luck.

Radcad, I think you're normal for having anxiety. I imagine anyone of us would be the same way. I hope your appt. goes well for you. I agree with Zillsnot4me... try to schedule next years appt. in January. Good luck!

radcad, it's too bad you're feeling so anxious pre-testing, but also seems totally normal. If you can change your schedule, maybe go earlier, so you're finished and have results before the holidays, and can relax and have fun?
