If her cancer was ER+,she should avoid soy whole foods like edame, tofu.

Coffeemate may not be the healthiest thing on the planet but it certainly wont hurt her! I'm going to go get some now, yum yum!!

*soy sauce is fine, is moderation as is the soy added to some breads. Just don't do those protein bars either with it.

As you have found, the studies on soy are all over the place, with no definite answers. Some studies find soy consumption helps reduce breast cancer, while others find that b/c patients should avoid soy. My oncologist said until the studies definitively point one way or the other, then as far as she's concerned there's no reason for me to go out of my way to avoid soy, nor is there any reason for me to go out of my way to eat soy. So that's exactly what I do. FWIW, I was 100% ER+.

A good rule of thumb about food intake is everything in moderation. That goes for soy, alcohol, fatty foods, or any other food or drink that is possibly problematic. Your mom can ask her oncologist if there's any particular reason to avoid coffeemate, but if not, then a few spoons a day in coffee shouldn't be a problem.

One thing that the studies are clear on - exercise. Study after study has shown that getting 30 minutes of exercise most days is one of the best things we can do to avoid recurrence. I can only focus on so many preventative measures - my life is just too busy! For me, I've made the decision to focus on doing those things that studies have proven are beneficial, like trying to exercise every single day, and not to worry too much about things where the studies are contradictory.
