Five Years, no problem

Hi All,

My five year is in a week or so, but I did my mammogram and it is good, when compared to each of the last four years.

Was it fun? No, not at all. Did I sacrifice to live? Of course. Do I want you all to keep jumping those hoops to get well? Absolutely. The idea is abstract when you start treatment, but if it works, you CAN eventually get your life back, and wow is that good!

    Thanks all!

It's hard to imagine when you hear that you have a 29% chance of being alive and well in 5 years that you will be alive and well in 5 years. That was before chemo and radiation and how well they worked were factored in, and those things doubled the chance, but still, it was scary to the bone. I'll probably be followed the rest of my life because of my risk factors, but I have eyelashes again and my husband still loves me and I've stayed employed, and the best thing yet is that I will never be denied insurance coverage for this preexisting condition that cost me about what college did.

If you like the idea of universal health care or what the Affordable Care Act is trying to do to reach people who need to have health insurance before they stand to lose everything to a random illness, please speak your minds. One out of two men and one out of three women may have some form of cancer in their lifetime. With insurance and proper health care, it is usually survivable. Without, it may not be.
