odie16 - one of the best part of vacation is planning and looking forward to the trip.  I enjoy this almost as much as the trip itself.  I hope you have fun!

Thanks guys. I realize times are still tough for some so didn't want to come across bragging but the trip really is bittersweet for me. I love a beach trip anytime but this is somewhere I have wanted to go to for a long time and it was heartbreaking to have to cancel it before.

Science, I hope you had a great day trip with brunch on the boat.

Thanks Odie, it was a wonderful day. Also bittersweet for me, since I havent been out on the water since my diagnosis last October. I took so many pictures for my bedside electronic photo frame, it is a great way to relive a trip when resting or going through more treatments.

I dont think anyone thinks we are bragging when looking forward to travel, just dreaming. And - we deserve it!!!! You especially, after having to delay that trip for so long.

    Good for you!!

We went to Maine for 8 nights. Just got back Monday. My wife and I used to go before we were married and last went about 7 years ago. My youngest daughter had never been. We all had a great time and booked the same place for next year.

Next trip is to Disney World for my parents' 50th anniversary.

    Can't wait.

No you ladies are not bragging, go ahead, make plan for your vacation. I love to make plan for my trip with my husband n kids every spring break, summer n winter.

Last Spring we went to Zion, this summer no where cus of my sickness ....I feel so sad....such a sad summer for me n my kids n this winter maybe no vacation too....I will have surgery around mid Nov So I don't know what to expect afterward.

Sometime I just browsed online to see where I want to go next summer 2014.

I can't wait till I feel better for summer 2014 so I can make plan with my husband n kids again. Can't wait!!!

Hi Colt, good for you guys. Is your wife doing well now, I hope?

Soriya I agree, it is sad when we are homebound and wonderful when we can get away, even if we are up to a day trip in the car during or right after treatment it is a major accomplishment!

I spent months not traveling, since my diagnosis last October, it WAS sad, and I am also really looking forward to future trips.

I have ONE "bucket list" goal - see more beaches and other beautiful places in this world of ours.

Wonderful people like TarheelMichele on this post are really helping me figure out the most beautiful.

Please share everyone, we love to live vicariously!!!

    Hugs and happy Saturday!

Visiting more beaches? I highly recommend a "pool" float like this

    http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Swimming-Pool-Float-Hammock/dp/B002WOSBN0/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_1_1

BJ's typically sells a two pack for about $26?

They come I inflated and are VERY easy to blow up and use. The hammock is mesh so you can enjoy the touch of the water. The headrest and footrest have inflation in them...so you have a comfy spot for you head and your legs dangle into the ocean.

I packed these last year for my trip to Grand Cayman. They were perfect on the calm water side of the ocean...definitely not for use in the waves!

    You sure deserve it.

Pat thanks for the pool float link- I do have an amazon prime account so just might grab a couple of those.

If only they came with that model's figure!

    LOL

Here is the link for BJ's http://www.bjs.com/poolmaster-water-hammock-lounger-2-pk---blue.product.214731?dimId=

I swear they are cheaper in the store..maybe $25-35? And itIS a two pack, so great price. .it's going on fall here so summer isn't in stock at my local store, can't check the price. I don't know if they carry "summer" all year in those comfy warmer states.

When I went to Grand Cayman last year with my girlfriends I had brought one for each of us. We left ours behind for a family whose mom was handicapped and she had loved borrowing ours...small price to pay to see their smiling faces.

My motherin law is planning a cruise for the whole family to Bermuda next June...I think I will get everyone the floats. Easy to pack when deflated, and fun to relax in.

Sciencegal, Hawaii sounds heavenly! I have a friend who goes every year for 4 weeks. She found a condo a decade or so ago, and it was $49/night then. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but she loves Hawaii, and trades off the cost of hotel service for a longer vacation in paradise.

I think you should go! Why wait?? That's North Ka'anapali Beach, just to get you thinking .....

Ronda THANK you- that was exactly the area I was thinking about, due to the white sand beach, and that picture is Fabulous. Great! You are so helpful, with all of your world travels.

    I am convinced!

AmyQ where is Amelia Island? I have never heard of that one.

Thanks for starting this happy thread! I finish chemo today!!!

Its my second time through chemo and I am so great full to be finishing. Stage 2 reconstruct in October and my dad has Sx early October to remove bladder and prostate for cancer.

We are trying to decide between beach and Italy for late spring. So fun to look!! Even thought of Bora Bora but expense and difficulty getting there make is hesitant. Love the idea of wine country in california too.

Any thoughts? I want to make some awesome memories:)

    Hi crs - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

I live near wine country- it is beautiful. But fall is the best. In spring it might not have its full potential (the grapevines will be mostly bare but just starting to bud out - so mostly sticks unfortunately).

If you ever do go there please come see me- I am in sacramento. It is easier to fly into sacto than San Francisco, which is far more crowded. Frisco is a beautiful city though. No airports in Napa/sonoma unless you have a private jet (which most of us do not LOL).

Italy is beautiful but be careful where you go- the big cities are really dirty and crowded. Venice is famous but stinky and lots of pigeon poop. I am half Italian and have been to "the mother country" seven times, different areas. My favorite area is the beach - south- along the "italian riviera". You can easily get to Monte Carlo and Nice, France, if you are in that area- gorgeous! Cleaner than Italy I have to admit.

I would go for the beach every time, personally. There is something healing about the ocean- studies have been done. Sounds like you and your dad could both use that.

In some of Tarheel Michele's posts she has described some beautiful beaches that she has visited, which inspire me!!! (THANK YOU)

Happy dreaming and vacation planning to all!!

I get to go to Pacifica weekend after next. Woohoo!!!!

Not a far away trip, but I sure need a dose of the ocean waves!!! I stay right on the ocean there with my wonderful husband whenever we have a meeting in San Francisco.

    Hugs to all

This looks like a Dreamy Thread! Hi, I am Jenifer...I recently attempted to celebrate my one year cancerversery, but instead got diagnosed with a second primary tumor in the "healthy" breast. So now I am back to square one...AGAIN. But when I come through this I really am going to get started on my Bucket List.

First, my DD is getting married in Charleston, SC in May 2014. Hope to be healed by then (fingers crossed)

We bought a cottage on the central Oregon Coast which I love, but there are a few other places I need to check off. I want to swim with the dolphins...anywhere, but Key West would be a good start. Then when the government gets back to work, I need a passport, because I want to view the Arora Borealis so badly and see Lake Louise. If I get those 2 things done I will be so grateful.

Anyone who wants to travel down through Georgia is welcomed to stay at our home. It is not on the coast, but I am originally from Savannah and you could use it as a stop over!! Same thing for Oregon, except the "Keiko Cottage" is having some renovations at the present.

Have a great day, ladies and husbands!!! ((HUGS))

Not exactly a vacation island but we are going to Reno overnight for my birthday, to see some friends. Maybe have a drink or two in a casino to celebrate my one year past diagnosis.

    Roadtrips are fun!

    Happy Sunday everyone

sciencegal, I hope you have a wonderful celebration in Reno. Well deserved after a year of intense treatment and surgeries. I hope the only thing that hurts is from laughing too hard.

I'm headed to Asheville NC Wednesday for an overnight 2nd anniversary celebration. Snow is forecast so we may head up a night early. Wouldn't mind getting snowed in. DH hasn't been home in 2 weeks and I miss him.

I love to hear of everyone's travel plans. Don't just lurk -- please share!

Thank you girls- it has been a blast! Good to feel "normal" again, for sure. Well except that my back and joints get super sore when I walk for awhile, since chemo, but nothing some tylenol and a few margaritas can't fix!

Today we will have a casino brunch and then go back through lake Tahoe, stopping there for awhile.

LOVE that lake. It literally brings tears to my eyes every time I see it. Especially now- I am just so glad to be alive and to get to behold such beauty. It is a gorgeous world in which we live. I am trying to make the most of each day.

Ronda Happy anniversary!! I hope you are feeling decent and that you both have a great time.

    Big hugs,

    Jan

We have a little place in Maui that we are heading to immediately after my fourth and final treatment - at the end of this month. The sun, surf and my family will help me celebrate finishing this phase of my cancer treatment. It's the beautiful place that I have been able to focus on during this past week of uncomfortable symptoms. I often visualize us taking off on the plane and waving goodbye to chemo!

    Maui no ka oi!

Awesome 2lovely- and may you be on that plane and feeling great SOON!!!

What side of Maui? Where are your favorite places to eat? We are hoping to go in February for a long weekend. Yay! I have been to Oahu but not Maui.

Good for you. May your SEs be minimal.
