Hi there! My name is Misty and I was just diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.  I had genetic testing 2 weeks ago and im very frustrated the results were not back as of today. I will either have a double masectomey or a lumpectomy depending on this test. Im 36 years old no cancer runs in the family so this news is just devistating. I have 2 small kids the youngest having autism. IIsn't that enough.

Hi Misty - I'm so sorry you find yourself here. I don't know why life seems to be so unfair sometimes. I understand your devastation.

It is going to be a rocky road for awhile. The uncertainly of everything right now makes things even more scary. Take things a step at at time and try not to let your might wander to places it doesn't need to go.

I found that meeting with a counselor helped me. Also if you need meds to calm yourself, don't be afraid to ask you doctor. Come back here often for love and support. Gentle hug.

princessblu- sorry you are here but you will find lots of support on this site. Just tonight 2 other women your age with young children came on the boards for the first time . Take a deep breath. Things will be crazy for a little bit but then you will get your treatment plan and feel better. Learn and ask questions. Make sure you have confidence in your medical team. Get second opinions if you need them.

The waiting is the worse but you need all the information to make good treatment decisions.

Come here for information and support.

Welcome Misty, although I am sorry you have a need to be here. I think the waiting for test results was emotionally the hardest part. BRCA testing does take long to come back, which is frustrating. I think mine took close to a month. This is the worst part of the journey, in my opinion. I was diagnosed stage IIa at age 32 so I can related to some of what you are going through, although I did not have children. I know this is terrifying but we are so fortunate that there are good treatments they can use to get us through this. You will get through this too. Count on having a rough year or two - you're going to find out exactly how strong you can be, and it's going to blow your mind. You can do this! There will be light at the end of the tunnel.
