single mom cerebral palsy miscarrage break up 2wks l8r IDC
Oh my freakin word. I'm a tad overwhelmed. pfft. Life has definitely been a bumpy road being born to a 15 yr old resentful mother, no father, and cerebral palsy. Fast forward through accidents, an abusive marriage, single since the birth of my son etc to this year. I lost a child in April 2013 to miscarriage, my boyfriend of two years breaks up with me, then two weeks later I'm diagnosed with IDC.
God alone has kept me going and sane.
So then I'm driving to work (10 hr days) and my car overheats. I'm told the extent of the damage is around the value of the car. YEAH.
So, along with all these dumb daily struggles I have to decide to go either single mastectomy or double. I'm a bit overwhelmed.
I'm still deciding whether to utilize FMLA to keep my job or allow them to lay me off to collect unemployment. I've looked online and have noticed many have had problems with expanders. I'm not sure what to do.
I guess I'm just really looking for some relief, understanding, and a support system.

Welcome Tessa. You have found here the best place for information and support for dealing with breast cancer. I don't have experience to share about mastectomy and reconstruction options but many here will.
Normally, you should be able to take some time to make these important decisions so don't feel you have to rush into anything.
You can read some of the information and research articles on this site accessible via the menu at the top of the screen. The 'Just diagnosed' area is a good place to start. You can also start topics, such as you've done here, with specific questions, say about expanders.
Keep posting and you will get a lot of help and learn more than you ever wanted to know about BC.

Thanks Racy.
Actually, my surgery date was originally for last Thursday but they have to reschedule. So, I don't have much time to research anything really. I'M OVERWHELMED WITH ALL OF THIS. I was just reading on how bc I'm pr+ and er+ I'll probably get tamaxifen or however you spell it, on top of the fact that I probably won't have feeling in the new fake boob. GREAT.
Oh my gosh, how do you handle it all, especially when you're on your own? -
Poor Tessa, you have every reason to feel overwhelmed. (((hugs))) Does your hospital have any counseling available? It might be helpful for you to talk with someone who can help you consider your options. -
Ugh sigh*
Thanks for the Hugs.
It's all happened so fast. I work 10 hr days and have a 9 yr old son that I care for on my own. I haven't really had a chance to even take this all in yet. My car broke down this week on top of everything else. I feel like I have a little cry burst about every 12 hrs.
I'll definitely ask though!
