Anyone ER weak+ PR- Her2-
I was recently diagnosed with a second primary tumor, that was different than the one from last year. This tumor is 30%ER+ PR- and Her2-. I had a BMX and am now waiting for my oncotype Dx. I would really like to hear from others who have a similar tumor and what treatments you have been given. Some professionals have warned me that this is almost a triple negative tumor. Have others been told this? Any thoughts or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I was 11-25% ER positive & was treated as estrogen positive (it was explained to me that it is like being a little bit pregnant...you are or you aren't). I was Stage 2, grade 3; had a lumpectomy, did chemo, rads & 5 years of Arimidex.

Thank you ruth...do you mind sharing with me the type of chemo that you had? Last year my oncotype was 19 with a strongly pos ER and PR, so I am fully expecting the oncotype will be higher with this tumor. -
I was very weak estrogen positive (6%) and neg. pr, her2. The strange thing is that I was a grade one, with a very slow mitosis rate. My MO treated as estrogen positive saying the same thing as above, that you either are or you aren't. So just because you are almost triple negative doesn't always mean an aggressive tumor!!! I had a BMX, six rounds of TC, rads, and tamox. -
I was ER/PR+ Her2- upon biopsy; Oncotype test changed me to PR- and my ER status to barely positive (6.6, where 6.5 is the cut-off for ER-). Like Ruth's doc, I was told "any ER+ is ER+" and I was strongly encouraged to take Tamoxifen for at least five years, especially with an Oncotype score of 42. Further discussion and research with my doctor revealed my cancer is Luminal B (hallmark is PR-, high mitosis rate, and high grade). Apparently Luminal B subtypes don't respond to hormonal therapy well. In the end, though, I chose not to do Tamoxifen (tried it a couple of times, as well as Aromasin, but the joint pain was intolerable). You can see from my signature that I had chemo and radiation. -
Thank you Nancy, this damn disease is so twisted. You answered my question, in that I fully expect my oncotype to come back high. I still have to take arimidex for the tumor I had removed last year. So I assume I will have to have chemo..what type I do not know. But at least with a BMX I will get to pass on the rads this year. I sure hope this next round of treatment will keep me free of disease for at least a year ! I am really getting bummed out having a new cancer for my birthday for the last 2 years. Hope you continue to do well. -
I'm so sorry you're going through this again, especially so soon after your previous diagnosis. Yes, this disease IS twisted, and keeps us guessing and wondering. And there are always happy surprises too - good news when we least expect it. I'm hoping your Oncotype test score comes back very low (goodness knows my MO did not expect mine to be so high!) If chemo is in your future, though, know that it was tough but doable. What is your doctoring suggesting at this point? -
He mentioned 4 treatments, but we are really waiting on the oncotype. I will be okay. Last year was not a problem. This year will be a little more bumpy, but I have to give it my best. My DD is getting married in May 2014 and want to walk down that aisle. -
Computer is being weird....deleted this post and copied it below.

I was diagnosed before the oncotype was commonly given, so never had one (and my big tumor came out of nowhere 6 months after a clear mammo, so chemo was pretty much a given, at that time anyway). I had four rounds of dose dense AC, (although from what I read, it now would probably be TC instead). I wanted dose dense so I could get it over as soon as possible, as I had things coming up too. It was creepy, but doable. I was able to work & do the things I needed and wanted to do, but felt kind of 'buggy', like I had a slight case of the flu or something. You might 'want' to do chemo just to make sure to knock the stupid thing out for good! Maddening!!
