A very bad headache tonight....
I have a very bad headache tonight. Tomorrow my doctor should be getting the results of my brain MRI. I hope that I'll be able to get some sleep tonight. I am very worried and feeling very alone.

miss_sunshine,
Thinking about you and hoping for you that the MRI results are clear. And sending cyber (((Hugs))) so that you feel less lonely. -
Miss Sunshine,
How are you today? -
RebzAmy, thank you for the good vibes.
Moderators, thank you for your message. I got little sleep last night so I'm feeling very sleepy tonight.
Beesie, thanks for the cyber hugs.
Wintersocks, I love your userid btw.... I can say that I feel better today. I called a support services organization and spoke to someone there and she also re-connected me with a woman that I know from a support group that I go to sometimes. -
Miss Sunshine,
I do hope you get a little more support now.
Wintersocks....erm, yes was very cold when I was dx Feb 2012.
I remember the day clearly, sitting and shivering in a state of numbness/fear. With very cold feet.
So I put a pair of winter socks on...that's it!
Did you get your MRI results? -
Wintersocks,
I know that feeling of numbness and fear. When I was diagnosed I stayed in mostly and I wrapped myself up in a throw that I keep on my sofa. Whenever I'm stressed I still do that. Been doing that a lot lately. In terms of support, I spoke to someone yesterday and it helped but I wish that I had some ongoing support. I guess that I put all my eggs in one basket when I met my partner and he hasn't been there for me since my MRI. I called my doctor's office yesterday to ask if they had the results of the MRI yet and I was told that the doctors won't be back in the office until Tuesday due to a death in their family (the doctors are a husband and wife team). So the waiting continues and my worrying gets worse and worse. I need this community more than ever right now. ....Miss Sunshine -
miss_sunshine, I'm sorry you are still waiting for the results of the MRI.
More ((((Hugs))))!!! -
Beesie, thank you for more hugs! -
Miss Sunshine,
How are you today? -
Miss Sunshine, Im always alerted when I notice the word headache. Im extra sorry to hear of your bad one. Headaches are the pits. I hope your MRI shows a good result. We can feel so alone with this dreadful disease but theres lots of great help to be had on these forums and from people who get it.
All the best.

wintersocks, I am ok today. Had another headache last night, took some Tylenol and felt better, thankfully. No headache so far today.
Musical, it was suggested to me by someone that my headaches may be migraines triggered by something. I never had migraines before and I guess it is possible. And it is possible that stress may be my trigger. But you're right headaches are the pits. Thanks for your reply... these forums and the people do get it and that's why I'm here! -
Miss Sunshine, well BIG HUGS. Was just looking at your your dx notes to see maybe if you were having any treatments that could be causing the issue. Are you still doing Tamox or have you moved onto doing AI's? Sometimes headaches can be a side effect of these and each woman can be sooo different in how she tolerates these. Also I don't know much about Herceptin in so far as how long you can carry on taking it coz Im Her2Neg. I used to get migraines much much worse than now so I know how horrible and debilitating they can be. (yea they suck). With the stress that BC brings no-one could rule this out either. Please let us know how your results go.
BIG HUGS again! -
Miss Sunshine, I've been thinking about you. Fingers and all other appendages are crossed for you, hoping that the news tomorrow is good news!! -
Musical, a BIG THANK YOU for the BIG HUGSYes, I am still on Tamoxifen. I'm no longer on Herceptin because Herceptin treatments were only given for one year. I am sorry to hear that you get migraines. What do you take for them? Stress, I believe, takes it's toll on me both physically and emotionally so I've started taking some steps to reduce the stress in my life. I will definitely give an update on how my results go. Thx again for the BIG HUGS!
Beesie, thank you for thinking of me and for crossing your fingers.... hopefully tomorrow's news will be good. I'm hoping! -
Miss Sunshine .... We are all standing with you and hoping for you!
I did Tamox for 2 years. I remember headache is a stated side effect but I think that refers to initially, which was the case for me and it was a different type of headache than was usual for me. They werent too bad. A few painkillers sorted it out, but those SE's disappeared fairly quickly so that was that.
Im from NZ and some med names Im picking are either totally foreign or called something else. For headaches I used to take di-gesic (needed a script) which were great if I got it in time and then they "discontinued it" (UGGHH dont you just love it when they do that)... anyway the equivalent is Paradex, (again, script needed) which are great too....and wait for it... yep they've stopped funding it which means they are more expensive but you can still get them. I believe mine were related to my monthly and as Im in menopause Im getting them less and less and no where near as bad.
I believe stress has got a lot to answer for, and the problem with proving it would present a minefield of possibilities because everyone gets stressed about different things to different degrees. De-stressing as much as we can is a good move even though for many of us it's easier said than done. We do what we can do.
Gentle hugs. -
Musical, thank you for your support. I never had headaches when I first started taking Tamoxifen. I never had any side effects at all since August 2009 but I think maybe (but maybe I'm wrong) that I'm starting to experiences some long term side effects of being on Tamoxifen. My family doctor did say that Tamoxifen can cause dizziness which was my first symptom that presented. I hope that my MRI is normal and my doctor can sort out the cause of my symptoms and manage them if not make them disappear completely (although I'd really love it if my symptoms would just go away). Another thing I wonder about is whether my body is going into menopause now.... will have to ask my doctor if she can test for that. Stress, for me, is usually due to dealing with difficult emotions. I have some material from a stress management program that talks about how assertiveness is a healthy way to express difficult emotions. I will definitely need to work on that. -
You more than likely already know this, but the AIs are a no go option for pre-meno or peri-meno as they wont work. They do do a blood test to make sure youre post meno. Tamox and the AIs are all powerful drugs with their own unique set of side effects. None are a light matter, but in the end we weigh up those things important to us and make our decisions.
There's so many individual stressors in our lives, it takes time to learn to deal with these and theres no set formula. All this is can be so crazy. Theres just so much to take on board. Having BC doesnt mean the other stresses of life just suddenly and wonderfully disappear, but that would be so nice!
Youre most certainly allowed vent and express those difficult emotions here at any time you want to or not as the case may be. For the most part there will be others who have experienced close, if not the same things.
Meanwhile Hugs waiting for that test result. (waiting is the pits as well, and needs its own very special HUGS) -
Musical, thank you for the hugs as I wait for my test result. I have vented here about people that don't understand what I'm going through and have been insensitive to my feelings. I vented because I simply didn't know what else I could do. But I think my challenge going forward will be to try to follow one of the steps to being more assertive... that is, to acknowledge the other person's position or feelings even if I don't agree. This is taken from the stress management program's material... Understanding is not the same as agreement. Acknowledging the other person's feelings can reduce the tension, take away the need to defend oneself and make the other person more willing to listen. This acknowledgment takes away a big reason for fighting.
If only I had read this material a week ago. -
I also have been having headaches, and I'm sure MRI ids in the near future. I can certainly understand the stress. I've also been having back pains and a pain below my right rib cage. the worry is enough to send me over the edge.
hope you get good
-
Miss S there is much wisdom in what you've said and it sounds like you are well on your way to getting this stress dealt to.. Sometimes we do need to just move on and let things go because it's not worth it. WHen people say insensitive things I look at it in 2 ways. Someone has just genuinely made a blooper/something you don't agree with coz they didn't know what to say/or genuinely were trying to help so I choose to overlook it. This sort would be the majority. Secondly if the insensitivity is particularly nasty and obviously on purpose I also move on but not before calling the person out on their unacceptable behaviour. You do the world a favour when these sort are put in their place. Some people just need to hear it. All the best for that MRI. More Hugs.
Hi nettie. Gentle Hugs for you too and welcome. Im sorry for your headaches and your backache. Theres lots of reasons why these things occur, and it helps the community members here to comment and weigh in if we know a bit about your dx. Seeing your doctor is always the gold standard for any solid advice given, but folks can at least rule certain things out if we know where you are in your treatment etc. -
Nettie1964, I am sorry to hear that you have also been having headaches. Do you have an MRI booked? I'm sure that you do understand the stress. I am sorry, too, to hear that you have been having back pains and a pain below your right rib cage. How long have you had the pains? Have you been checked out by your doctor? I know how the worrying is enough to send one over the edge -- I have been to the edge too. I have not experienced back pains but in 2010 I had a rib pains and found to have a rib fracture that was not cancer thankfully but I didn't know that until all the testing had been done. I had two bone scans -- once when the rib fracture was found and another one months later that showed it had started to heal. So it's important to go to the doctor if you haven't already do so. They need to check to be sure. Thank you for sharing your concerns, it's sounds like we have had similar concerns and both of us have felt stress. I will be praying for you that your pains go away and that your tests show normal results and that your stress goes away too. Hugs to you. Keep me posted. -
musical, it sounds to me that you know how to handle insensitive people. You are practicing assertiveness! Hopefully I will get better at it. Thx for the hugs.... I should have my results today... just a few more hours and I will call the doctors office. But not before I go to the gym for a class to release some stress -- I need to do something that I used to do that I truly enjoyed to mentally prepare myself for whatever news I get today. Not sure if I am making any sense but I remember after my treatments ended in 2009 I started exercising at the gym and that place for me is now associated with getting stronger physically and mentally and I just need it back right now, that feeling that I am ok. Please, please I pray that I am going to be ok. -
LOL Miss Sunshine, yea you could say Ive had my share of in-sensitivities come my way and I would guarantee it would be the same for most of us. As I said, most people are trying to be helpful and it's wise to let it go or you can end up sinking under needless pressure. Theres enough to deal with already. Toxic people just need to be expelled from your life as they just not worth worrying about anyway.
By the time you read this you would have your results. I hope they are good! Waiting to hear! Gentle HUGS -
Miss sunshine,
Thinking about you too. -
thinking about you here in Ohio too Miss Sunshine. Praying for good results. Please let us know as soon as you know something.
As for venting and stupid comments - There was a string here on bc.org where people were complaining about the less than supportive things people said to them during their journey. It was an interesting and sometimes funny string. People can be so stupid! -
Miss Sunshine, I hope you're doing well. Did you get your results? I want to assume they're good since I don't like the alternative. I try to be as positive as possible. -
Musical, thank you for the gentle hugs!
wintersocks, thank you for thinking of me!
bcisnofun, thanks for thinking of me and for your prayers. I did see a thread called OMG They Found the Cure for Stupid, not sure if that's the one you're referring to but that one was funny!
aaoaoo, thanks, I am doing well. I did call the doctor's office this morning as instructed by the receptionist that I spoke to on Friday. The automated recording informed me that the doctor's office would be closed on Monday AND TUESDAY and since their office is closed every Wednesday to call back on Thursday... so now I have to wait until Thursday! It is good to be positive... I am as positive as possible and have reached out to my community... and thankfully I'm getting good support... when I thought that I was all alone, it was a very lonely thing to deal with but now I feel that I have good support. -
Im sooo sorry you are forced to wait yet longer! I wonder if theres another avenue you could find out from. Of course our countries are all so different, so Im only guessing what might be possible. It is annoying that you were told by that receptionist on Friday when to ring and then this... yea waiting sucks. In the meantime we'll all be hoping for the best. -
Musical, there is probably another avenue but I'll wait for my family doctor. Thank you for hoping for the best!
