Are you getting MRIs due to implants instead of mamogram?

I have an implant on my non-cancer side and nothing on the cancer side (failed reconstruction). But my armpit that was full of cancer has a lot of lymphedema and it is unrealistic to think we can feel everything. I asked my oncologist if I am supposed to ever get an MRI and she said yes. Yet she had never ordered one in the 5 years post BMX. So literally, no scans of my chest area of any kind. Then she noted that my chest did get an MRI a year ago for a huge non-cancer lump...not ordered by my oncologist, ordered by my lymphedema/cardioloist dr. Then she said I should only get an MRI of my chest/armpits every 2 years. That seems like too long to me.

Has anyone else with BMX been given regular MRIs to watch for recurrence?

I am still in treatment, but my oncologist has already told me she wants me to get MRI's instead of mammograms. I have subpectorial implants and dense breasts. Breast density is a big problem with mammograms and my last mammogram so I don't know if it is due to the breast density, the TNBC status, or the implants as to why she wants MRI's, but I'm glad she does. I don't trust mammograms at all for my dense breasts.
