I feel like the board Debbie-Downer! When I feel better I want to talk to you guys about the MO options.

i have decided to file complaint with VA medical board against these MO s that wouldnt do routine scans.

this aug i switched to Dr Roberts, had complaints of hip pain. i was training for half marathon. had me go to ortho. of coursenothing showed up on xray. and pain went away with rest. my calcium levels have also been up for over year. .

these were red flags for mybone mets. 

my dd is moving to texas with me. she is 17. has type 1 dm. not easy to deal with. her boyfriend of year broke up with her at beginning of senior year. she was cryong onphone last night. she is releaved to be coming down. i am so worried about her.

think she can just work on her GED or maybe there is home school group? get her in some therapy.

i resigned from my job yest. taking SSDI. i loved loved being a nurse. 

Oh, Fran, we are all praying for you. I hope your complaint will cause some action.

I am going to write a complaint to ASCO about the nonsence on scans especially for women like us with nodes. I also feel that it is wrong not to let the patient have any say in how they would prefer to deal with having mets detected--in a clinical setting versus a bone breaking spontaneously.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter, but glad she can be with you there. I'm sure you can find some sort of home schooling for her. You both must miss each other so much.

It's such a shame that our country's health system is like this...that you can't get the same testing and treatment up here. You probably saw the article I posted yesterday from ASCO. One of the things it said was that oncs should give only one chemo at a time to mets patients. Unbelievable! Not Dr. Dicke, and you are so smart to stay there with him as he attacks the cancer cells with a routine of different drugs that attack different functions in the cells. I'm so glad that there are some doctors like him that will do things differently, but my question is why. Why them and not others? Well, no one ever answers my questions as to why things happen.

Relocatedtarheel, please don't worry about being upbeat all the time. We of all people understand that this "journey" isn't always easy and are here for you good or bad.

relocatedtarheel-- BC is truly a rollercoaster ride, one that we all don't want to be on. You're not being a debbiedowner, we all have been there before at one point or another, despite our respective differences in treatments. We're here for ya when you need it!

Re today's luncheon--last month it was depression. This month it's either a bad cold or the flu. Unfortunately in either case I'm contagious and know there are people in chemo there so a no-go again.

Relocated, I see you've been having a hard time. We've wanted to meet at these luncheons too long. Next month has to be better for both of us. More later...

hi folks, I am soo sorry but I won't be able to make it today either:( I was in the hospital 3 weeks ago (for 3 days) with cellulitis (in my boob & foob) on IV Antibiotics. I ended the orals one last Sunday and the dang thing is trying to come back (started to pink up again this week). So started another round of oral yesterday. The infection is making me real tired so going to lay low today. Who knew that having only 7 nodes removed would not only make you a target for lymphedema but also cellulitis!! I have been able to keep the lymphedema at bay, but I guess I got a small cut on my good breast from trying to use "enhancers" to gain some symmetry and infection went wild. Didn't help that I was getting PT at the hospital PT facility where infection runs rampant anyway! Another fun adventure of stupid cancer!

Peggy and relocated, I currently see Dr Denduluri and I would recommend her. She is young, bright, and compassionate. She called me at home three times now to follow up on issues I was having. I find her to be a good listener and never felt rushed during appointments. but make sure younare ready with all your questions. I had a recurrence in the reconstructed breast right under the skin. Apparently I am resistent to the tamoxifen. She gave me a choice about the chemo but recommended I do it. My onco scores were low and I had no other risk factors. Since I've had skin cancer and (stupidly) smoked at one point when I was younger I decided to do it. She also gave me no choice about menopause. Either I am forced into it by the chemo or I have my ovaries removed so I can go on aromatase inhibitors. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer them.

FairOaks mall is pretty easy to get to.You could take 28 to 50 east or Rt.66 to get to it. It is between Chantilly and Fairfax. It is also really pretty at Christmas time.......

hey all! I'm meeting Dr Denduluri on Wednesday but am also interested in talking to a doctor that prescribes homeopathic cures. Can anyone give me any recommendation or tell me where to find a list of doctors who treat patients outside of chemotherapy?

I really nees her to convince me to do chemo, that the long term side effects are minimal, and that my next infusion would be managed far better than my last. That is what I need from this appointment to move forward...we'll see how it goes.

Relocated - Looking forward to hearing how it went today. After my first chemo tx I was ready to quit the whole business. I had a reaction to the chemo, the SE's started immediately, I was in a lot of pain. She made adjustments to the chemo which worked for the next two. My SE's haven't been as bad and she has stayed in touch about everything, even this stupid rash that I can't seem to get rid of. I have my last chemo next Thursday. Mentally I am fast forwarding a month to when I hope to feel more myself.
