CCR5 Inhibitors May One Day Be Used To Fight Cancer.
Reuters (10/26, Hirschler) reported that the HIV medications CCR5 inhibitors may one day be used to fight cancer as part of combination therapies. Research published in the Journal of Cancer Research indicated that in mice, the medications led to a reduction in the number of aggressive breast cancer cells that spread to the lungs of the rodents. The article discusses several drugmakers’ attempts to develop such combination therapies.
