Neuropathy question

Options
I will be starting chemo next month. I wondered if any of you ladies or their Dr's have recommended or tried using one of those foot bath massagers during chemo treatment to possibly prevent neuropathy. Maybe a long shot, but thought I would throw it out there! I guess it wouldn't hurt to try...or am I just wishful thinking?
Thanks in advance!

keepthefaith- I am afraid there is no way to prevent neuropathy. It is mostly a matter of luck if you get thru w/out it as many do. Which chemo drugs are you getting.- Taxotere- Pacitaxol is the biggest culprit. Big hugs coming your way.

Yeah...I had the neuropathy and still do to an extent! Not to scare you or anything but mine got so bad that my fingernails and toenails started lifting...the pain got so bad that my oncologist prescribed Neurontin! This helped sooooooo much!!! I am no longer on it but I stayed on it for a couple of months even after I was done with chemo! I just recommend to keep your nails and toe nails cut pretty short! Don't try and tough it out either because that is what I did and the pain and numbness got so bad I would cry so at the first sign of tingling and numbness, let your oncologist know!!!! You can do this!!!!!

Also, just to let you know my mother and I were going through chemo at the same time (my first time and the second time for my mother) and she had done Taxol like 6 years before and never had the lifting in the nails and toenails! Just goes to show that it even affects mothers and daughters differently! She was first diagnosed at 38 and is now 50 and I was diagnosed at 30 years old and I am now 32!
