I am sorry if it is a silly ? but does anyone knows what to take and or eat to help the hair to grow faster after Treatment? My hair is now very curly and its just stuck ;( it seams not to be able to get going fast enough. I finished Chemo in Feb 2013. I cut it once just the tips hopping to speed up the process but with no luck. Any advice is welcome pleaseee

Enerva, I am not sure about specific foods that would make your hair grow other than "good" nutrition. Lots of fruits and veggies. The supplement Biotin is supposed to help with hair and nails. I used it for a while. Some of the ladies on the "hair" thread used a shampoo that was supposed to help speed growth. I never tried the shampoo. (I think it is something like Nioxin?) I did buy one of those little scalp massage things to stimulate and increase blood flow. I do not know if it made a difference or not, but it made me feel like I was doing something. I finished treatment in June of 2011 and wore my wig until Dec of 2011. It felt like my hair was never going to come back. It finally did! Yours will too! It may come back in very different than it was pre-chemo. Pre-chemo mine was very straight. When it got about an inch long it started curling in the back and it grew into the craziest curly mess, but just in the back. The top and sides were mostly straight. I got my first post treatment real hair cut 1 year ago this month. I went to my hairdresser this morning for hi-lights and we talked (and ooooohhed an ahhhed) about it being 1 year since my first post treatment hair cut. We even looked at my before the first cut pictures...we had a good laugh at the curly mess I had. Even though it was a mess it was better than being bald. My hair is now down to my shoulders. I have had 4 cuts/trims and almost all of the curls have been cut off. One of my friends has curls on one side and not the other and another friend never got any curls...everyone is different. You just have to go with what ever it is for a while, but eventually it gets back to what it was pre-treatment. One thing that helped me see that it was growing (even when it felt like it wasn't) was taking a photo every 2 weeks and dating them so there is a visual of the progress. Try it. It will surprise you and make you feel better about how much progress you are making.

Enerva, what FLwarrior said. I took pictures too and I also went to a good hair dresser regularly as soon as there was more than a half inch of hair. For me at least it helped to have it shaped into something that looked deliberate. I sported a cute pixie for almost a year and loved it. Now I am trying to grow it to about chin length and it is coming along nicely.

I take biotin since ending chemo and my stylist told me it's growing faster than ever....I attribute it to the supplement and my regular bikram yoga practice, since it increases circulation dramatically.
