Spousal Support

Hi, Do any of you know of a site like this that my husband can go to to get support for himself. I think it would help him to have other husbands/sig others/boyfriends... to "chat" with. It helps me to get advice and answers from all of you so I assume it will help him when he has questions, complaints... Just knowing he's not alone. Thanks!

Not sure where you are in CA, but in the Bay Area there is a place called Breast Cancer Connections that has all different types of support, not just for the patients but also the care givers or family. If you aren't in this area maybe there is something similar in your part of the state.

My Wife was diagnosed tripple negative last year and has had surgery , chemo and radiotherapy. What I find so distressing is the fact that it turns relationships introspective and inward looking. I have been married 25 years, but I have lost the wife I knew due to the nature of the treatment and the psychological impact of her coming to terms with what has happened. All I know is that breast cancer has made her very angry and short tempered. So tell me, who looks after my emotions?

I'm really sorry to hear that, Hughmark. A site that helps someone like you is what I'm looking for. A place where the signigicant others can go.

There are some threads that husbands are on. Sorry, I can't tell you which ones. Perhaps one of the spouses from this thread could start a thread. I have no doubt that there would be support found. Good-luck and best wishes to all...

There's a group called Men Against Breast Cancer - http://www.menagainstbreastcancer.org/ Their motto is "Caring about the Women We Love" and the group is for men who are providing support and care to someone they love with breast cancer. They are based in the DC area so most of their activities are local to DC, but they do have books and other guidance available on their website, with specific suggestions about things men can do to help the women they love deal with breast cancer. I just ran in their 5K fundraising race a few weeks ago to try to publicize them and help them out. I know what my husband has gone through with me, so any organization that recognizes and tries to help the men who love and support BC women deserves support as far as I'm concerned.
Unfortunately they don't have a discussion forum like this, but perhaps if enough men request it, they might find the resources to develop a forum where men like you could connect directly with each other. I know there's some husband threads here on BCO, but you guys might be more comfortable if you could gather on a site specifically geared towards you.
