Just diagnosed with IDC stage 2a

My name is Elayna. I am 21 years old. I was just told I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma stage 2a.

Anyone else have experience with this? Have my first real appointment since being told this afternoon and am pretty nervous. They mentioned wanting to "shrink" it before a lumpsectomy. Anyone do this?

    Hi Elayna, I'm sorry about your diagnosis but good it was found early.  I don't have the same experience but others definitely do so you can definitely find information.  I just wanted to wish you good luck on your journey and don't worry, you will be fine, you are young and strong and will get rid of this and be done with it...  take care...

    Hi Elayna - I'm so sorry for the bad news. If you haven't already check out the "young with breast cancer" forum towards the bottom of the list. You are so very young, but you are not alone.

    We understand how overwhelming all the information and treatment information can be on the breast cancer journey, especially initially. We are so glad you found the wonderfully supportive breastcancer.org community.


    There is a thread on discussion boards for women in their 20s with breast cancer. It may be another good forum to post in.

    I am so sorry you find yourself here especially at such a young age. There are several women in their 20's on these boards. There is a board for young women if you look. I wish you luck and am sending hugs!!!
