hi Dewey. Sorry that you have to be here but welcome to a great group of women. Congrats on being a newlywed! There's lots of great info and resources on this site. Hope your treatment is going well! Hugs to you. -
hi Dewey ,
Sorry about your diagnosis but you'll find lost of support here. It's really helping me now:) I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago and the ladies here are really great support . You are not alone -
milkyway, all I can tell you is that my mother who was in her early 40s when initially diagnosed with BC (and is now at Stage IV), found love and got married after her mastectomies. Our breasts do not define us who we are as women. -
Hi Dewey, welcome n sorry that you re here.Yes you are not alone, and many women here aer very supportive. Hang in there!
-
Thanks for the support ladies! I would never wish this on anyone, but it's nice to know there are others dealing with the similar challenges. Hugs to all of you!
I have a question for those of you who have been through chemo - I'm on TC in my first cycle, and I'm in my second week now (the week when my counts are low). Did you just stay in and not interact with anyone during that time? Or did you wear a mask when out? Thanks in advance! -
Dear Ladies,
I will be off these boards for a while. I wish you all the best.
Hugs,
Young Turk -
Take Care YoungTurk, we will miss you!

Hockeymommy welcome to the group! I have one more chemo to go, then i will be on Herceptin for a year, since im a HER+ girl
. I have 2 kids 11(boy) ans 8(girl). No surgery yet till chemo is done.

Dewey - I think it's up to your comfort level and how well you feel that determines your level of outside interaction. I've been fortunate and have always felt well enough to go about my normal life, which includes running errands and going into public places even during my nadir period. I just make sure to wash my hands viligantly, avoid close spaces, avoid sick people, etc. If you are feeling weak, perhaps you should avoid public spaces but I think it's always good to still go out for a walk or some fresh air to keep your body sane and healthy. -
Thanks Cougarlicious! I went out today to enjoy the beautiful day here, and it was really nice. Have a good weekend! -
Here is another one. 34 year old, diagnosed on 10/10. I have husband and a 5 year old. Trying all I can to fight for my life. -
Hi Jianchi, So sorry you have to deal with this. You can fight this! Feel free to lean on us for support. -
hockey mommy and jianchi, welcome to the group but sorry you have to be here. Lots of great info and support on this site. Big hugs. -
Thanks ladies for the welcome!! Thursday I will start taxol.....a little nervous but looking forward to crossing the finish line! -
hi ladies..
I am 34 going to be 35 in 4 days.
got diagnosed with tnbc grade 3 last month. i have a 5 year old daughter and getting this came as a big shock. I heard that its rare to get bc in your 30s and then i found this thread and realised that there are so many like me, unfortunately.
Triple negative breast cancer ( the one which i have) has the highest chance of recurrence/ metastasis in the first 5 years ..and i really want to see my daughter grow up, do her higher studies, get married, have children etc. I dont know whether all that will be possible or not... with the most aggressive type of bc i have.
for the time being, i have started taking 1 day at a time... rest i have left to destiny
wishing you all good health and i hope we all keep writing and move ahead from our 30s to 40s to 50s to 60s..so on!!
love -
Jianchi and BanR welcome! Sorry you're here. BanR Im sorry that your Bday n BC diagnosed month so close to each other. Me too, i found my lump n diagnosed a few weeks before my 39 bday...I still remember that day. (Hugs to all!)
-
Thank you Dewey, Rachel and Soriya ! -
BanR,
I am 34, TNBC. Based on tumor size I am stage 1, grade 3. I have a 5 year old son! -
hi...coming to join in. i am 32yo with a wonderful husband and an amazing 5yo son.
had my first chemo treatment on 10/09. as i thought it was manageable, i was struck with a virus that took me completely down. needed to go on antibiotics and shots to bring up my wbc. it was horrible and hope that each treatment will be better and not worse.
wish you ladies all the best is this scary journey!xoxox

i know soriya, that it feels terrible to get cancer, as a birthday gift. i guess, destiny reserves its toughest battles for the stronger ones!
all the best to everybody -
Hi everyone. I was diagnosed last July at the age of 34. I am not married and I don't have children. I don't have a strong support system so I pretty much faced my diagnosis and treatment alone. I completed radiation treatment last December. I take Effexor for depression. It's been a tough road. I am so tired all the time. I've gained about 30 lbs since I was diagnosed. I don't do any of the things I used to enjoy. Everyday I worry about a distant reoccurrence. I had a very low Onco Type score, but that doesn't seem to ease my mind. I have kept my diagnosis a secret from all but a few close friends and family members. Is anyone else experiencing the same as me?? I feel like I'm at a low point. -
welcome SB1999 and Jada1!So sorry that you re here.SB199 I have the same cocktail as you TCH and yes this is scary jouney for all of us. Jada1...so sorry that you feel all alone n no support during your treatment. Its normal to have fear of reoccurance. My treatment not over yet, and my mind is all over the place cant seem to shack it off not to think about reoccurance. i want to join support group at cancer center but afraid might scare me even more.
-
The fear of recurrence is natural. But it is something we need to fight. I feel very thankful that my docs never once told me my stats, nor did they even talk about recurrence. They simply told me what my treatment plan would be, and now that I've finally had my last herceptin treatment (woo hoo!), they're working with me on a follow-up plan. We can't live by numbers. What would be the point of going through our various treatments if only to always worry about the cancer coming back. Don't get me wrong - any persistent ache or pain sends me into a momentary spiral of fear that cancer is lingering. And I realize i had 6 positive nodes so my cancer was on the move before we found it. But I do my best to push the fears away on a daily basis. Gotta find your happy in each day and be thankful to be alive. Fear will get us nowhere. We are warriors who are and have kicked cancers ass. I've got kids to raise and eventual grandkids to me, not to mention retirement travel some day with my hubby. I don't plan on going anywhere. Cancer can fuck off and find someplace else to go! Chin up ladies. Keep on fighting! -
ramols I think that is the best post I've ever read on this whole site! Thank you
I'm 36 years old with two boys, ages 2 and 3. I finished my chemo (TC) and will continue Herceptin until June. Luckily no rads. Reconstruction is next for me. I'm a little nervous about that even though my BMX wasn't so bad.
Hi to all of you "Ladies in your 30s" -
ramols - I agree that what you wrote is one of the best things I've read yet! Love the attitude and love the message. I think I needed that and so I thank you
Hi MarisaC and welcome. Sounds like your treatment is going well and moving along which is great!
I'm at the radiation onco today for my first appointment to find out what my rads schedule will be. Only one more chemo left for me! I'm so excited to be done!
Hope everyone has a nice weekend! -
marisac and rachel22 - glad what I wrote helped a bit. It is a hard road we have to travel. We all need each other to help pick us up sometimes. You'll get stronger and stronger (mentally and physically) every day and eventually you'll be on the other side of the tunnel. If you look really hard - you'll see that light shining through. Keep your eyes on it! -
Ramols.. its shari! i love what you have to say always.. I know you r in NY too. When you come to the city, we should get together!
-
ramols, love love that line "we can't live by the numbers". Indeed we can't, we journey on, we live we laugh we try and move forward. Even in those moments when the aches pains or in my case tingly itching which was my tell tale sign if cancer ebbs fear into our otherwise strong willed minds, we must learn to balance fear of our imagination and the reality and truthfulness of our bodies. -
I had my final chemo yesterday!! I'm so excited to be done! Now onto radiation but compared to chemo I think I can handle it. Hope everyone is having a good week
