Perhaps this has been discussed - and if it has I'm sorry to bring it up again - but I was wondering about how difficult it would be to put new members on "moderation" for their first couple of comments. Not because we don't want to be inclusive of those who wish to be part of our community and are struggling with concerns - but rather to keep out some of the spammers that post all over the place. Usually the spam posts are pretty easy to pick out from the subject and we don't bother to open the thread...but I've noticed lately that some of the posts have subject lines that are pretty spot-on, and so they appear more legitimate.

Anyway...just a thought...Thank you for all you already do, Mods!!

Thank you for the suggestion, NancyHB. The team is working on more ways to flag problem posters before they spam the boards, and we squash the spammy bugs as soon as we can. We've noticed that some of them have been more strategic in their thread titles too, and have some other characteristics too - we're watching for them, and member reports are a huge help!

I am so glad to see this thread! I was just coming here to start one.

I've been a reader here since shortly after diagnosis, although just started posting recently, and I am appalled at the big jump in the number of tr8ll/bogus posts that I've seen in the last year or so. Mods, I've been a moderator myself and I have a pretty good nose for this.

Whoever gets jollies out of messing with people in our situation for attention is a freakin' sociopath.

i have offered suggestion on an EASY fix for this...

it is the reason i stay away ...

i appreciate the work the mods do...

but the techies are NOT volunteers...this is an easy fix...

months of "we r looking into it" ...is not only unproffessional.. but in my opinion it is VERY disrespectful to the body of members.

just this morning 2 IDENTICAL spams... in ther "honoring our community" forum....

honestly.... its been months youve been spouting the same excuses...

do our feelings matter? this is NOT an administration problem... this affects not only the quality of your forums but the contentness of your members

If someone posts more than 1 or 2 links in a message it should be parked until someone has a chance to look at it.
