    Hi CelineFlower

I have always had trouble with floaters - sometimes I feel like I am looking through lace curtains!

Which treatment do you mean? Chemo, rads, etc.

I have the flashes but no floaters. I see a retina specialist for another issue, and these have been diagnosed as a natural part of aging with no detachment of the retina. She didn't say they could be caused by treatment.

Celineflower - I developed sudden onset of flashes and streaming floaters about 10 months after starting Arimidex. I had a retinal tear. Over the next 4 weeks, I had 2 additional retinal tears in one eye. Both were associated with new flashes. I had 2 laser and 1 cryosurgery. I don't wear glasses and never had eye problems before so I did a lot of research to see if Arimidex was the problem. Retinal tears are more common in people who are near sighted. I found 1 article from a small study that showed changes in the shape of the eye similiar to those seen in near sighted individuals when on Arimidex. My MO didn't think that Arimidex was the cause and retinal tears from posterior vitreal detachment can be seen as a normal part of eye aging, usually beginning at age 50. I was a month shy of that at that time. I still have floaters, although they are diminished. I think that the flashes should be taken seriously as untreated retinal tears can lead to retinal detachment.

A year ago I developed what I thought was a lot of floaters in my right eye. I was told it was the vitrious detatching & was part of aging. About 2 weeks ago, I developed a ton of floaters in my left eye, complete with flashes of light. I was again told vitrious detatchment. My vision really took a hit with these two occurences. Prior to this I was better than 20/20 with each eye. Now I can barely make out the line 3 above. I just hope it gets better. I was told the floaters would probably/hopefully settle away from the center where they'd be less noticeable. I haven't seen the retinal specialist. I was told that would happen if I lost areas of vision.

I didn't do chemo, did RADs & on Tamoxifen for the last 2 years.
