I got my appointment within the week to meet with the oncologist for the first time after my sentinel lymph node dissection.

I don't know what my oncoscore was as it was a mute point - I wanted a lumpectomy and not a masectomy.

However being Grade III which means the cancer is aggressive I would think that chemo would be in your treatment plan - but that is my personal opinion based on what I have researched and read.

    Paulette,

Sorry you are in this position.

I had to wait until after surgery and recovery to meet my oncologist....I believe I was about 6 weeks post op. when we met she was ready to start chemo the following week...only I had a myriad of other health issues I wanted to clear up so I asked for an extra week to wait.

I was a stage 1 with ILC and had chemo. It would seem to me (but I'm not a professional) that based on the tumor info you provided you would get chemo, but I honestly don't know as your nodes are negative. My tumor was small, but multifocal and considered aggressive, so I did chemo. Which type and for how long is different based on a number of factors.

You are wise to be educating yourself beforehand. If it is decided you will do chemo One thing I wish I knew more about was a port...please read up on that and be prepared to ask for, request,or fight for if it is something you think you would benefit from. My doc didnt think it was necessary for my 4 rounds of TC, hindsight is 20/20...might have saved me some problems (nothing major).

I wish you all the best.

I kinda feel due to grade, size, and agressiveness. Grade lll w/8 score of 9.....it came out of nowhere...and with the onco score....chemo is likely.I also have multiple autoimmune disorders and other issues we need to consider to. I definitely will have a PICC or PORT. I have mixed connective tissue disease which causes my veins and arteries to be difficult! I'm very hard to stick and regular IVs don't last....that's if we can even start them.

I have had numerous PICCS over the years. I had a PICC for 9 months in 2005 for IVIG MEDS with no pbms!!!

but then had issues during a hosp visit where I developed MRSA systemic sepsis( MDs OVERDOSED ME ON STEROIDS AND THE NURSES DIDNT CHANGE DRESSING as prescribed) then a blood clot. Had to get a 3 luman central line...for meds and antibiotics. What should have been a three or four day hospitalization ended up 74 days. It is a true miracle I survived!

Its important to really make sure they take special care of it!!! But even with the situations that happened. ..I still will go with a PICC, PORT, or CL. soooooo much better than reg IVs!
