Hot turkey sandwich...now u can count me in...lol. -
I thinking bonjovi's old hang out on the highway near you, sorry GD we did not get there so if you get back in town,...... -
i will be comin to visit but not now... -
Yes Cami, I had the biopsy yesterday. It's not good news. The surgeon and pathologist apparently can't tell from the frozen section if it is mets or a different type of cancer. They need to do some special staining? Mets in the soft tissue of the lower leg would be very unusual I'm told.
-
Sharon it's sounds unusual--please keep us up on what's going on. -
Oh Sharon, Im so sorry. When will you find out? Alyson, Im sorry about your friend. Gma hugs and prayers to you, too. Went on a little trip to the SC state fair and had a good time, saw dancing bears and racing pigs, and the best fried donuts ever. Got in free cause it was disabilities day. Now if that's not a perk..... -
Mary,mary..did you find the cure for stupid while you were on vacation? Of course not cause there is no cure for stupid....
Alyson...im sorry about ur friend...that is so hard. -
The surgeon thinks we might know more on Monday.
-
Sending you hugs and prayers, I know how scary that is, wish I could do more.... -
Thanks Mary and Cami and all
-
Dutch - try to enjoy yourself this weekend. Don't spend too much time worrying about it, if possible. We're all thinking good positive thoughts for you!!!! -
Dutch.......remember what I said.......now is the hardest part.........my kids and many others gave me the "stay positive bullshit", and the don't worry it could be nothing crap...., and it's probably nothing song and dance...........I hated it because I hated cancer! was petrified of it! and did not want to be told "to be a brave little soldier"............I was not brave and was not going to pretend I was........I could not think positive, nor could I stop worrying....
So I will just say to you......this is the hardest part........not knowing........so dear friend......you feel however you want to........hugs, love, and prayers.... -
wow Ducky...you said a mouth full.... -
Hey Firecracker .........how are you...........I might get my hands smacked by the Mods for what I just posted, but there is no sugar-coating waiting for that phone call...........don't worry......"who are we kidding".........if your not worried about getting that kind of news, then you are a "brave little soldier but I have yet to find 1......., and I will admit.....worrying does not change the outcome.......but don't dare tell me how to feel.
I have the right to worry, feel sorry for myself, and have a pity party...................like the song says......IT'S MY PARTY, AND I'LL CRY IF I WANT TOO...........ok, so I am a 50's gal............hugs -
Ducky, I couldn't agree more. I'll get the results of my scan on Monday, and it's almost certainly bad news. The only real question is how bad. I know which drugs I'll probably go on, and they have dreadful side effects. I'm feeling sad, depressed, and hopeless. I think any good quality of life is over. I'm about as far from being a brave soldier as it's possible to be! -
Mary.......I hope "how bad" is not part of the equation.........will pray for better news then your expecting.....your a fighter Mary...........you don't have to be brave to fight........you have to have the will to keep trying against all odds.........you are doing that, and that makes you a fighter......small battles....one at a time.........maybe someday we will all win the war.........in the meantime we pray......... -
Thanks, Ducky, I'll try. -
And I'll pray..... -
I'm not a "brave soldier". The time after test and not yet knowing for certain is terrible. Because my mind usually goes to the worst possible place, though, I try to distract myself while waiting. I will almost without fail assume the worst, so I try to have as much fun as I can before I know for sure - mostly cuz I'm figuring I'll be having anything but fun in the future. I don't see that as being brave (personally), but if I in any way bothered you by what I said, I'm truly and humbly sorry, as I certainly didn't want to. -
I am not bothered by anything anyone has said. I am bothered by a local hospital newspaper ad. It says " Don't be 1 in 8. Early detection is the key." Don't be 1 in 8? Does that mean we have a choice?
I'm actually not worrying to much today. I'm keeping myself distracted somewhat. However, in distracting myself, I have caused my ankle to swell tremendously.
-
GG........absolutely not.....please I mean that.......it's just very hard to be positive, let alone listening to your well meaning family and friends saying be brave.....easy for them...it's us right.......and who knows better then we do.........I also think the worst, and prepare myself for the worst........then if it's not bad...I cry all over again, cause I am so happy.......
We understand what it's like.......I just wish I was not like that, but I am.......always have been.......My mother use to call me "worry wart"............she had cancer, my father, and my husband...all gone now.........wonder why I worry...... -
Don't we all worry to some extent? I know I do. Ducky your words are so true. Mary, Don't be so sure about the medications making you so sick, usually with me its the stuff that's not supposed to be hard on you that knocks me on my butt. The stuff that is supposed to be hard, I sail through. Gemzar was supposed to be easy, but Im sick 4 out of 7 days. Remember everyones different. Im hoping for better news than your expecting. Wedding countdown underway, 3 weeks from today. I found my boots finally, so Im ready except for a hat, hoping my hair will be back enough to not need one. Veggy, you losing your hair on Gemzar? Mines coming back finally after a year, its all white now:( Not a pretty white either. -
Mary - what color are your boots? Where did you find them, western or casual? My, I ask a lot of ???, don't I. Are you supposed to use any special shampoo after chemo? I ask because I have white hair with a few dark splotches left. I use a purple shampoo alternating with a clarifying that might be too strong for chemo hair. The purple is gentle and helps keep yellow out - like old fashioned blueing in the white wash. I buy various brands, use it up and then buy another. I saw someone on here says they buy their's at Sally Beauty. I usually have to look for a bit for it I've gone a couple of weeks without and not any difference. Beautician says no yellow in it and it is chin length.Thought it might help. You know Sassy and Firecracker have been using that hair chalk. I'm almost tempted but then I might be the talk of the town and not in a good way.
About worrying. I think it's one thing for US to say don't worry and what we did for distraction. It's nuther matter entirely for others not in the same boat. Just sayin. I think I would have to be drunk as a skunk 24 hours a day not to worry when waiting for results which ain't gonna happen. That or just too stupid to realize the implications. One thing to get soooo busy that it does get pushed aside some.
Otherwise, how are wedding preps coming? Do you have to travel for wedding?
Sharon - I know you know to prop leg up. Make sure no pressure under back of knee. Ideally ankle higher than knee and knee higher than heart level but any propping will help. Gosh turn on baseball game or Hallmark channel is running bunch of Janet Oke book based movies. Gentle romance. In an hour is a new 2013 one I have not seen. (((HUGGZ))) -
Yes luv, I know to prop my leg up. I have been bad. College campus tour with my with youngest yesterday. Grocery shopping and looking for a winter coat after surgery Thursday. If my feet go up my eyelids go down. It will be happening soon.
-
Not western, I would look ridiculous. Black slouch boots with a 2 inch wedge heel, havnt worn any heel in so long, I thought I'd wear them to church tomorrow to practice-ha-ha. The wedding is at a farm only about 15 miles from here. Plans are coming along, I guess, she hasn't asked me to do anything, really. But that's ok too. Just keep your fingers crossed it doesn't rain or is really cold, that would be awful. I have to practice dancing cause ds wants a mother son dance, which is really sweet but will have me blubbering like an idiot. It makes me cry to think about it already. I havnt danced in years (where anybody could see me, anyway) in front of 200 people too. Yikes! -
Mary - Yee gads, I wouldn't have a clue about slow dancing or really dancing of any kind. Yes, practice with the boots and try on what kind of hose, tights, knee highs you need. Take a soft comfy pair to change into. Can't be happy for long if your feet hurt.
Sharon - I know the feeling about feet up/eyes closed. My DH works until 9 pm so afternoons might find me falling over on the couch. I can sleep upright in most any position but find it harder sometimes in bed. OOO - college looking. Did you find anything to suit her/you? I have one child, daughter age 26. I remember those days though we only looked at 2. She went 2 years to local comm. college, 2 years to state univ. You must live in east or north. I have one good wool coat I drag out maybe every 2-3 years. North Texas does get cold but usually I can get by with heavy jacket. Not like I'm standing out in cold for hours or dressing up much. I have a nice selection of black sweaters for church wear. Also a nice selection of unisex "goat coats" DH and I share. -
She applied to three colleges. We visited her first choice. So far she's only been accepted to her third choice. She is such an amazing young woman. I am so proud of her. I have three children. Their father isn't around. I hear he has a drug problem and rumor has it he left the state. He's no help financially or otherwise. I hope I can be here to help her and see her graduate.
I'm from Wisconsin. It gets cold up here.
-
Oh wow, Yes, I understand the need for a heavy coat. I've only lived in the south/southwest as an adult. Never anywhere near cold as Wisconsin. Fall is my favorite time of year, winter is usually OK until Jan/Feb. We can get ice/snow and usually have couple good snows. Rather not have the ice and knock on wood haven't had the tree-coating kind in many years. We still need rain, rain, rain. What we've had had been great, slow soakers in DFW area but not doing anything for lake levels - water supply.
Sounds like you have a lovely daughter. Hope 1st or 2nd choices come through. What does she plan on studying? -
She is thinking radiation therapy or clinical lab specialist.
-
Oh very good professions. I tried to talk DD into PT/OT but she would have none of it and prob for the best. She also considered law enforcement which I could see her in too. She started out accounting major but had a wee bit too much fun in the dorm and made a C I think in 2nd semester acct. That caused shift to supply chain mgmt. She grad. in 2009 and took a summer internship with retailer. Impressed them and offered her full time job.
