Sounds like you and DH will work things out Edi!
I wish you could just pop over too, but meanwhile we can make do with cyber-support, which is no less real that "in-the-flesh" friendship! I'll be thinking of all my friends and family who won't be able to attend the performance anyway. xxx -
I'm rather proud of the Cornucopia or "horn of plenty" we made for our Thanksgiving dinner last night. DH helped me, and it turned out splendidly!
-
Morwenna - looks beautiful - and it says abundance! Happy thanksgiving to you and your family. -
Wow, Morwenna, that is really amazing! Love it! Hmmm, now I'm hungry. Is it bread dough? Happy Thanksgiving!............................................. Thanks for the info, Edi. As you can see ^^^^^ I am using dots for paragraphs here.
I'm thinking if DH has all that going on you are bound to get some free time to yourself ;-)......................................................................... I had an insane ride on the giant plush toy this afternoon so am going to soak in a not-deep, not-too-hot bath. Just about came off twice. Good grief, she was a real bag today. I still gave her a molasses cookie tho', I'm such a fool. She decided she was going to gallop back to her pasture, and I decided she wasn't. I won, but just barely. Okay, gonna soak my aching back, legs and arms. Goodnight everyone ( shuffles painfully off, dragging one leg ) -
The instructions called for breadsticks dough ..... the sort that comes in cans in the cold section, and you just unroll them. I couldn't find that, so I used dough that was meant as Weiner wraps, and cut it into strips. You just make a foil horn, and wrap it with strips of dough, then once it is cooked you can remove the aluminum foil. You can find instructions online

Hi X.....Benny this is such a pain, moderators havent got back to me yet, maybe they have weekend off ? I thought it was my lap top playing up. Its like our e.mail provider outlook express they changed the format and now it is sxxt!! Hate having to send one or forward one as it won't happen. Also hate the way they changed face book. It's as if they find something more complicated then think " lets put this on there instead "Hope you soaked those bones and got some relief from the pain. I am sitting with my heat bag wrapped around my hip bone :-( X............Morwenna, horn is FANTASTIC !! must try that for GD's harvest festival celebration, Happy thanksgiving. Things a little better with DH but work in progress lol X........Sun is shining yay off out and on way popping to see friends wife to work on design for a christening cake for her DH. He is 72 and never been baptised, since his fight with "C" he has found his faith renewed........Off I go to get war paint on and face the world. Laters XXXXXXXXXXXX
-
Morwenna,
Cornucopia looks awesome and so healthy. I want to try for our Thanksgiving in November. Thanks for sharing. Have a good week. -
Edi....I had trouble with the new format too, couldn't get photos posted and let the mods know. Eventually it got sorted out. I hate it when something "technology" wise changes, in ways I don't want....part of the techno world we live in though.
It's Thanksgiving Day here in Canada...just made a big batch of stuffing for the turkey.....smells like happy memories as I always use my mom's recipe. Had I seen your photo soon enough, Morwenna, I would have tried that....looks so pretty and "homey". As it was I was hiking yesterday, with my friend. We did the Nihahi Ridge trail....glorious day....here's some photos for you all. I have much to be thankful for this year.....and my friends here are a big part of that. -
Nihahi, those photos are absolutely breathtaking! I miss hiking so much. Used to do it regularly in the mid-90's when I had a friend who was a hiking fanatic. (She has since married a doctor and moved to Maine). I wish I could helicopter Diamond in there for a ride on that ridge haha. What's the temperature up there right now? You guys look good and bundled up................................................................................................................................................. Edi, I am so miffed at this new change on the forum. I can't upload photos anymore. Hey, maybe that's why they changed it, so Bennymuffins wouldn't upload pics of her horse anymore haha! I will be applying warpaint asap (to the bags under my eyes especially) as no sleep last night, couldn't stop thinking about the ride from hell. But am going out again today for another one. Actually am meeting a friend from Facebook. She is out from Vancouver Island. Very exciting! I hear ya on the Facebook *upgrades*. Who says they're upgrades? Not me!
-
Nihahi, pictures are absolutely gorgeous! -
Morwenna - wow! Beautiful - and looks very healthy too
Nihahi - again, wow! Beautiful pictures
Benny - hope Di was better for you today
Edi - work in progress is good
It was a beautiful autumn day here, DH and I went for a lovely walk and enjoyed the fall leaves and mountains in the background.
Take care everyone -
Websister....so glad to hear you had a lovely Thanksgiving. Absolutely beautiful day wasn't it!
Benny...I had lots of frustration trying to post photos after the updates, but messaged the mods, and waited, and things seemed to get sorted out. Not sure what the issue is for some of you about paragraphs...computers are FRUSTRATING when the technology seems to work against us, eh! Not sure "coptering" Benny up unto some of the ridges in K Country would be a great idea....We've seen wild horses up there in the past....Benny might just go "rogue" on you!!!! It was cold up there yesterday, we passed some puddles that had ice forming, some snow still lingered, and I ate lunch with a toque, mittens and every piece of clothing in my pack on, to stay warm. But we were up pretty high, and it wasn't too cold at the trailhead. Gosh, I'm so sorry about your sleeping issues...I can totally relate!!! Doc has no suggestions????
liefie....hope the suit shopping was successful, the weekend was great, and that you and hubby are home safe and sound. Soon you'll be visiting with movie and her hubby...have a wonderful time!!!!
traii...hope hubbys test results came back with good news, and that things are well with you. Last night's news had a story about wildfires in Australia..guess it's getting to be that time again for you???
Edi...sounds like shedman is doing much better?? That's great news....hope it's a good week for you and your new "routine"! What's with the hip issues?????
Getting close to the end of a lovely Thanksgiving Day here....hope it was just as wonderful for everyone else! -
Nihahi, I don't even have the little tree icon anymore (or any icon) so can't upload photos. Makes me mad that they changed it. Why? What was wrong with it the way it was? It's certainly not very user-friendly any more, for me anyway. Grrr. Don't you find that your breathing and heart rate and everything just slow right down when you're up in the mountains? When we used to go hiking I always dreaded coming back in to Calgary. I loved the 'slowed down' mode. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow at BCSCF so she might put me on something to help me sleep
................................................................................................................................................ Websister, I did get out to the farm today but did not get on Diamond. Judging by her attitude today it would have been more of the same. Your walk with DH sounds lovely. I wish I had a DH. I met a very handsome mechanic out at the farm today. He came over and introduced himself. He is the uncle of our horse trainer. Anyway, I digress. Remember that you and DH (or just you, your preference) are welcome to come out to the farm any time and meet the giant plush toys. You can ride Miss Big (don't let the name scare you, she's a total sweetheart), she's our completely controllable lesson horse. I think I might take a ride on her tomorrow just for a nice break. Morwenna and Nihahi, you are also welcome to come out!............................................................................................................................................... Okay, going to bed. Goodnight everyone
-
Hi X...... Benny, I am exactly the same as you re this reply box.I sent a second private message to the moderators last night. They have replied this morning and said they have messaged the tech team. They are being very helpful but might be a good idea if you have a go too. Go onto messages drop down box and moderators are at the top. Tell them what is happening to you.Do you use a laptop ? Mine is a Dell the girls with smartphones don't seem to have a problem. Hope you slept last night.Flash that beautiful smile at the handsome dude too ......Nihahi, hip is painful Dr said it is something beginning with B ending in itus gave me some clear gel which when rubbed on does the trick. Heat bag just comforting while watching TV. Your pics are STUNNING ! You energetic thing you. I would get vertigo walking up a slight slope.Bet you had a lovely time with Liefie and DH she is such a sweetheart.Choir tonight and happy harry is at the dentist then golfing with shedman. YAY Edi off for latte with my friend. X......Traii, second Nihahi's thoughts on your DH hope all ok ? X......Websister, Envy you ladies your Thanksgiving always looks so family orientated when we see it in Movies. Christmas here is just a mad house. You and DH MUST go visit Benny, have a go on Miss Big ,wish I could.X Adagio......so sad about Naan had a little weep this morning reading all the posts, we got to beat this sxxt for her sake......Better move my ass, large cup of latte with my name on it awaits, love and hugs to you all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Edi.....is the word Bursitis??? Means you have an inflammation of the bursa (fluid filled sac around joints). The gel must be an anti-inflammatory. Heat will actually not be the best thing to use in the early stages, as it can increase inflammation. If you are going to be active...ie, going for a walk, going dancing, etc. a few minutes of heat to relax the muscles is ok, but after you have finished moving around, you should put ice on instead. It actually settles the pain down better for longer, and helps to reduce the inflammation. Sorry....no longer have bags of frozen peas around here to send to you. I love Thanksgiving too. It IS much more family oriented, and not commercialized around gifts and parties. In the States, it is actually busier than Christmas, for families travelling to be able to spend the holiday together. It is a good thing, to have a day set aside to be "thankful".....we should all do it more often!
Looks like another pretty day in store for us here. I have signed on to work at the voting station in the coming election, so have to spend a chunk of time inside...."learning the rules". The hardest part for me will be on election day..I have to report to the voting station at 05:30 AM and stay until after the polls close at 8:00PM! Looooong Day inside!!!!!!! I might just go crazy without even a window to look out of!
Hope it's a good day for everyone! Love to all. -
Hi girls,
Back 'on the air' after a busy weekend with the kids. Boys now sorted out for the wedding as far as suits - the rest is up to them. DD also very pleased with the baby blanket, especially since her mom is not one for sewing at all - a historic event indeed. LOL.
The highlight of the weekend for me was meeting Nihahi on Friday. She is small, beautiful, wise and vibrant, and we talked the hind leg off a donkey about anything and everything in the time that we had. We even discovered that our boys have the same name! Could easily have gone on till midnight if we did not have other commitments. Thanks, Nihahi! It was really special, just like when I met Websister last year. It feels as if I have known you girls for years already - amazing.
Did not read any posts here, so will come back here later today. Have to run for the gym now after this weekend of plenty - lol. -
Good to hear from you again, Liefie - glad the visit went well and boys are ready . Visit with Nihahi sounds wonderful, I remember well meeting you and DH last year - it is amazing how it seems like we've known each other so much longer. I haven't sewn for a long time and may be biting off more than I should but 8 have decided to make some blankets, little dresses and quiet books for grandchildren using bits from great-grandma's clothes - hopefully for Christmas - I've been busy sorting through all weekend, took some equipment back this a.m. and meeting with the bank tomorrow
Benny. - saw the picture you were tagged in on Facebook, you are looking gorgeous - no wonder the mechanic came over! Miss Big doesn't scare me, we will have to see what we can arrange. DH went on a trail ride in Grizzly Meadow area about a month ago with a friend, the horse he rode was called 'Idiot'. He loved it and took some wonderful pictures. Hope Dr. T was able to help re: sleep
Dakota - hope you meant it when you said you were going to come for a visit
Traii - added to others messages re: DH - hope all turns out well
Mom - not long now before your surgery, I will be in your pockets
Edi - hope you thoroughly enjoyed that large latte -
Thank you Websister for the continued support. Tomorrow I go for pre-op and next week is surgery. I did get good news today that the BRCA tests came back negative for the mutation. I am more relieved for my daughter than any thing else.
Nihahi...I tried to comment on those beautiful pictures, but my comment went into cyberspace. I love the mountains. I tried living in Oregon, but found out that my roots are in the South. I still like to visit Oregon but my home is the South. I want so badly to get to Canada, and see that beautiful area. I just cannot imagine having that beauty to look at daily, nothing man made can compare.
This time last year I was wishing for clear nodes. Then for Christmas I wanted a low oncotype....Guess what I want this year.
Last year my BCO name was doxielover, and I was into the color purple as my Christmas tree. I think that little tree will be pulled out again this year. Oh my, listen to me...I am talking about Christmas and it is not even Halloween!!
Time for bed...and time for a benedryl
Good night ladies. -
goodnight momof2......that is wonderful news on the BRCA testing. -
Edi, yes it is a laptop! But it's been a laptop all along and was fine before? Very weird. But I will message the mods and let them know, thanks for instructions. I sure wish you could come riding with us. You'll have to find a way to post pics when you go for your riding lesson. ......................................................................................................................................................................Websister, thanks for the compliments on the pictures. The mechanic was there again today and he came over and started chatting! He is a machinist but dabbles in mechanics and was fixing one of the gators at the farm. I told him one of my cars had a dead battery and he offered to come over and fix it for me. He just lives around the corner from me, literally 4 blocks away! Small world! So I will call him. He sure is a cutie. Likes to travel, owns his own house and numerous vehicals (vehicles?), super friendly, great smile, and..... oops sorry, got carried away. Anyway, rode Diamond today and she was a saint. I think she has split personality disorder ;-) Anyway, yes, please, it would be great if you came out. We can even have a picnic out there. I can't believe someone would call a horse Idiot. What were they thinking? We have one at the farm named Nitro and he lives up to his name. You don't want to ride him.......................................................................................................................................................................................Doxiemom, Benadryl helps you sleep?.......................................................................................................................................................................
Liefie, so good to hear from you. Love that the blanket was a hit. You did that quickly!......................................................................................................................................................................
Oh Edi, forgot to mention, if that is bursitis and you need a cold pack, a very nice person here (Monica, where are you?) gave me this 'recipe' for a really great cold pack. Just get a good quality freezer Zip-loc bag (whatever size you want/need) and fill it 50% water, 50% alcohol hand sanitizer. The alcohol will keep the contents from freezing into a lump so it's really nice and soft and floppy and flexible. I have something with a 'b' word too but I think it's bunions.....................................................................................................................................................................
Okay, off to bed. Have to go for a mammogram tomorrow and dreading it. I have had pain in my armpit on the unaffected side so of course I am thinking the worst. Didn't finish all my chemo, still haven't started on the tamoxifen, yup, I'll bet I'm in trouble. Will know tomorrow. Goodnight everyone
-
Hi X......Dearest Benny, firstly good luck with the mamo, if any concellation I have horrible pain in other boob on a regular basis. Have had mamo again and it was ok, sure yours will be the same.......Now for the nice things happening to you, keep flashing that gorgeous smile at the lovely chap. He could be your future !! After all you have been through about time you had some fun. He wouldn't be offering to help with your car if he wasn't interested, even if you just have a laugh together for now who knows what will happen next ? My laptop was fine before too, my little netbook which DH now uses also buggered and the proper computer in the back room as well. Hope you have more sucess with the Mods than me.Thanks sooo much for cold pack tip ! will get one under way today. XXXX......Nihahi, Yes that is what I have !! could say it but not spell it. Have knocked off hot bag, thanks for the tip will try Benny's cold bag no frozen peas here either GD has eaten them all !! She adores them. XXXX Websister, SUCH a wonderful idea making keepsakes from your Mum's clothes for the little ones, please keep us posted on your progress.Hope you do get to Benny's.Had a lovely Late and natter with my BC buddy Bel, we are really excited as we are spending Xmas together at my ED's house as her son is my ED's fiance and little GD's Daddy. XXXX Traii, any news ?hope you are just busy XXXX Momof, Lovely that your result good, see bit by bit you are getting there. :-) Gosh your pockets are going to be bulgeing ! we are a noisy lot who eat and drink in there too,so be warned LOL.XXXX New computer hopefully arriving today as main one blew while DH was on youtube. Processor and motherboard both blew !! only 15 months old, he ain't happy but out of warranty, cheaper to by a recon one than have it repaired.......Anyone ever hear from Luvmygoats or any of our other sisters on any other threads ?......Mountain of laundry calling me, laters X
-
Hi honey, I am sorry for your diagnosis. Been there. Benny, I know your shocked. But, In your situation just take deep breaths and try to stay calm. The best medicine to this is staying strong, and, keeping positive. I will be here if you need me.
Take Care,
Kaloni -
Liefie....missing you already....it's a west coast weather kind of day here. Would love to put on the rainjackets and meet up for a long walk and chat. You are going to LOVE movie and her hubby! Fun, fun times ahead!
Edi.....did your hip start acting up with the dancing???? Maybe try just a little bit of heat just before the next session. Don't put the heat right on your hip, but around it, to loosen up the muscles, then ice your hip as soon as you get home....bet it helps!!!!
benny.....every mammo from now on will be "anxious"....just the way it is. Why no tamo yet??? I thought to get the optimum "guard the gates" effect of it, it had to be started rather soon after ending chemo?? But....obviously, protocols have changed since my days. I'm liking the sounds of your new "friend"....just good to hear you feel confident enough to let someone "new" into your world, doesn't matter how the friendship evolves, it's just a sign that life goes on, and good things happen!
websister....has your back gotten any better???? I couldn't imagine horseback riding with a sore back!!!! Love the "memory" blanket ideas. I'm sure your family will appreciate it.
momof2...hope your pre-op goes well...I'm seeing my PS today to plan for the next surgery. Looking to put all this in the rearview mirror!!!!
Have good days ladies! Love to all not mentioned (((((X))))) -
Morning ladies!
Benny, we are in your pocket for your mammo today. I'm sure it will be fine. I envy you your plush toys.... I only have two little ones (kitties)
My lad is at Olds College, training as an animal health technician. He's been working at a vets for a couple of years, doing small animal work, but at Olds he is meeting sheep, cows and horses for really the first time. He is loving it, and finds the horses particularly fascinating! He apparently gets on well with sheep too, as he has been nicknamed "the Sheep Whisperer"!
I have only ridden a couple of times. My first experience was in Wales on a little horse called Flash, which was rather daunting, but he looked after me pretty well
Websister, that is a lovely idea for recycling clothes with happy memories! I've been getting a bit crafty too .... I'm making little good luck cards for my chorus buddies in advance of our competition in Hawaii, which is coming up so fast now!! I've been a bit lapse this week on the homework for Friday's recovery group though!
Nihahi, I have persuaded DH that we can afford a night away as he has 2 consecutive days off (unusual!!),.so we are staying in Canmore Friday night, and I'm planning a hike for Saturday. Any suggestions??
I should get on with my day. I'm going to deep water workout today, and attending the BRA-day at Tom Baker this evening ... Hugs to everybody! xxxx -

These are what I've made so far ...... only about 50 more to do!!! (sorry, you have to turn sideways to look at them!)
-
Benny...Yes, benedryl helps me sleep. It is sleepy component of Tylenol PM. I do not like to take extra acetaminophen if I do not need it. Buy regular or generic benedryl and take 1 or 2 at bedtime. I also get very sleepy with the OC drug for motion sickness, dramamine . If I take that for a boat ride or plane flight I would sleep through everything. As my surgery date approaches I have found the need to take the benedryl because I think I am anxious. The mechanic sounds nice.... you are a beautiful woman, he would be so lucky to have dinner with you. Best wishes on your Mammogram
Jenifer -
Hi everybody,
Benny, what do I hear about a nice man coming over to fix things for you? Bet you that's just an excuse - LOL. I have all my fingers crossed for you this morning - you will be okay, I'm sure. It is nerve-wracking every time I have a mammo too - know that sickening feeling all too well, and will have one in November. Think of that attractive guy to distract your attention . . .
Movie, really looking forward to tomorrow! It is just so special that we all are getting to know each other. The reason for all of us meeting in the first place is bc, but we are all turning it into something so very positive and wonderful. You guys drive safely, eh? Will send you directions today.
Nihahi, those mountain pictures are gorgeous! Looking down on them from the plane is always so spectacular too, especially when the sun is shining as it did this past weekend. When are we meeting again? Hopefully not in a food court, but in front of a cozy fire with heaps of snow outside - one may have dreams, right? Heard yesterday that the oldtimers are predicting a very 'snowy' winter for Van Island . . . we are so not geared for that here, and it always causes major road upsets, airport closures, etc. Oh well, we'll have to wait and see.
Websister, will have to talk to you about your gift ideas for your grandchildren. It sounds just wonderful, and I would love to try my hand at some of that. The soft book is intriguing to me - what a good idea! How are you feeling these days now that Herceptin is over? Fatique getting any better? I really hope so!
Morwenna, you are one arty lady, you! That horn of plenty is quite something, eh? Wow! The thingies you are making for the Hawaii trip are also very cute. Enjoy the trip with DH - love Canmore too, and have stayed there often instead of in Banff which is so busy, and so expensive.
Edi, hope that bursitis clears up soon - not fun, eh? So sweet you're making a christening cake for a 72-year old man - picture please when it is done? Are you going dancing again this week? Enjoy the choir too - you are busy these days - a very good thing. I'm also wondering what happened to Luvmygoats.
Momof2, happy that BRCA test was negative - yayyyy!!!!! Good luck for the surgery preparations. We are all in your pocket, one happy, jostling, eating, chatty bunch!
Adagio, I'm coming to that get-together at Marianelizabeth's house on Oct. 26, and will meet you then in person too. Looking forward to that!
Jo, Traii, Maria, everybody else that I'm missing, all the best to you! Still in my pj's at 10 in the morning, but have to move my backside, and get dressed for gym. Yesterday when I got there the trainer had set up an abs-and-butt boot camp circuit, and chased me around it. Wonder what she has in store today . . . oh well, I guess I'll survive. -
In your pocket Benny! I have to get mammo every 6 months too. Have mine next week.
Benadryl does make most people sleepy (some have the opposite reaction though) as do most of the short-acting antihistamines. But you can't take those things if you are on tamoxifen. -
hi ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA. Been reading just not much time to post.
I started work on Monday and feel like I haven't even been gone! Quickly got back into routine!.
I also started a little on line business selling childrens clothing. Loving it. Something I always wanted to start but just never did. So it is a little bit of fun!
DS is still his cheeky self and keeping me busy. Love him to bits
DH's results came back all clear thank goodness. Just got to get him to do 'mole mapping' to keep on top of it all. He knows this summer to slip, slop , slap as the saying goes here!!
I'm so happy to 'hear' that you ladies are all sounding great!
Well thought I'd check in and send you all my love.
Im off to visit my 1 and a half week old nephew..he's just so tiny and cute!!
Take care beautiful girls sending hugs to all xx -
Ugh, bad news on the mammorgram. They found 'a change' on the other side (left). Not a mass but calcifications have changed since last year. I sat there in the waiting room begging the powers that be to hear the words "You can go now, Mrs. Bennymuffins", but they never came. I ended up sobbing and literally quivering as I went through the whole ordeal all over again this afternoon: mammogram, we-found-something-second-mammogram, we-found-more-third mammogram, -you-need-an-ultrasound, and finally, you-have-to-go-for-a-biopsy process. The doctor was reluctant to let me leave the building because I was so distraught. Here we go again.
Don't think I can do this again. Really.
