for those too tied to search....what to avoid afte BCS/LUMP/SNB?

for those wo are too tired to read years of posts....what do newbies need to avoid after mast/partial mast / snb...rad...etc?....in a nutshell! thanks.....tired...depressed. lonely......and still hanging after 2 surg w/in 2 wks to get it all....hopfully...and IORT during 1st surg. ....NO ONCOLOGIST APPT TILL I called....we wont even talk about comorbilities......do all MDs give so little guidance?

    Not sure what you mean by "what to avoid" - are you talking avoiding certain foods, alcohol, supplements, etc., or are you talking about what kind of exercises you should do and what you should avoid? If you mean exercise, your surgeon can give you guidance on when you're freed from post-surgical activity restrictions, but since you had a SNB that puts you at an increased risk for lymphedema. Exercise is important, but you need to start any upper body exercise slowly and safely to minimize the risk of triggering lymphedema. The website Step Up Speak Out is a valuable resource for info about lymphedema and they've put together a fabulous booklet about how to begin a safe exercise program after node removal.

    In the meantime, most surgeons want patients to walk as much as they can. Even though you're tired, walking a bit every day can help bring back some of that old energy.
