    Hi JaneB

I noticed your triple negative stats and wondered why your doctor didn't opt for chemo?

we have similar stats and I had to forcefully deny chemo as from my research,it seemed too aggressive with too many unknowns yet

I had a lumpectomy first to assess my stage and will be doing a double mastectomy in a few weeks

I drink alcohol. I didn't whilst I was in treatment which ended in July 2012 but I do now. I thought that alcohol was not recommended for oestrogen receptor positive tumours but OK for other tumours. I am now not sure as alcohol has become the new 'bad boy on the block' and the suggestion is that it is implicated in lots dof cancers. I would love a medical opinion on that one.

I rarely drink at all anymore and that's by "my" choice and not cancer's.  I lost a taste for it while going thru chemo and never really gained it back.  I will have an occasional beer or glass of wine, depending on my mood/situation.  I agree with the other posters though.. you have to make the right choices for you, everything in moderation and don't forget to live life!

If Alcohol caused breast cancer all women in France and Russia  would have it and women from Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq would never get breast cancer. Neither is true.
