Maria....It is a huge accomplishment...be proud, gal!!!!!!! -
Maria, happy happy for you - the worst is over!
Nihahi, that SAD study sounds very interesting indeed.
Movie phoned me tonight! I almost keeled over, and could not believe I was actually speaking to her. They are coming to visit us next week - really looking forward to that!
Finished baby blanket in the nick of time - phew! DD phoned tonight, all geared up and excited to do a nursery for baby, and Mom has to help. She's 18 weeks, had a sonar this week, and everything is well. So grateful.
Okay ladies, I love you and leave you. Have a lovely weekend, and a wonderful Thanksgiving to the Canadians! -
MariaNL,
Congrats on finishing that part. Good luck with rads. I'm still waiting on oncotype test to see if I start with chemo or rads. Day by day....I like that. -
Hi X
Maria, WOW thrilled that part over for you. Rads a doddle in comparison you will be at the end of this journey before you know it. X
Liefie, how lovely that you will be seeing Movie. Try and skype me when she is there, I would love to see her. Glad you got blanket finished. Such lovely events to look forward to for you.X
Nihahi, the shoes DID get a workout last night. DH was definitely trying not to go but I got ready, put all his stuff out ready then looked at my watch. He stomped off and came down, then tried every excuse not to go, I turned on my deaf ears, went and sat in the car, he stomps out drives there and when we get in GUESS WHAT ? He LOVED it !! We did waltz/quickstep/foxtrot/cha cha/samba and tango plus a little jive. We met some really lovely people and the teachers reckon we will soon get back to where we were years ago.Now he is full of it, going to practise at home then same time next week. Turns out he was nervous about failing.
Today woke up with water infection, like peeing razor blades !! Got antibiotics can't swallow them quickly enough. First time I have had one of these since DX thought maybe chemo had sorted them out too.lol.
Websister, had hair trim yesterday much tidier and even though she took tiny bit off ends of top hair, seems to still be curly. I now use spray on and leave in conditioner every day and this certainly makes hair shinier and easy to manage.I also use a wide toothed shower comb and certainly helps the curls.
Ridley and Jo thinking of you both.
Happy Thanksgiving to all you Canadian ladies.
Peace, joy and health to you all. Have a lovely weekend XX -
Edi, will certainly try to skype with you when Movie is here. Won't that be fun? What did I tell you about the dancing and DH enjoying himself once he gets there? So happy it went well. Wish we could dance all those lovely dances, and it's good exercise too. One of these days we will see you two on 'Dancing with the Stars', I guess? Love that show. Hope the infection clears up soon.
Have to run. Best wishes to all, and see you all next week. -
Thanks for the morning smile Edi!!! So glad to hear about your dancing......how long do you think it'll take for hubby to claim it was his idea all along
I bet the two of you danced the shoes off everyone else!
Can't wait to meet up with liefie today....hopefully the snow will be gone by the time her plane lands. Someone needs to win that lottery soon, so we can ALL have a get together...
websister....thinking of you, hope you have a Thanksgiving full of family, feasts, and remembrances.
Jo....any idea when you'll hear your results????
Have a wonderful day ladies.....the sun is shining here, hope the same for all of you. -
forgot to ask....morwenna...how do you post photos from your phone????
hmmm....figured out how to do it, but for some reason I can't post a message from my phone today??? -
Happy Thanksgiving to all of the Canadian ladies.
Scouser, so glad you got out on the dance floor. Sounds like so much fun.
Nihahi, I hope to get oncotype results at my next appt on Oct 24th. Just healing and learning patience until then.
Liefie, Glad you got the blanket done. You are one busy lady. That is the second blanket in the last couple of months....I'm impressed! :-) -
Thanks for all your well wishes my lovely friends.
Edi, so nice to hear about your dance night with DH, very glad he is getting on board.
Nihahi, how exciting for you and Lifie to be able to get together I agree someone needs to win the lotto how great would it be for us all to have a get together.
Happy thanksgiving to all of you gals and your families in Canada.
Jo6202, wishing you nothing but good news at your apt. on the 24th -
Glad you got the photo thing figured out Nihahi! I practically ALWAYS use my phone rather than the pc these days.
We could totally do at least a partial group get-together without anyone winning the lottery. I only realised last week that I know Websister in real life, as we attend a group together (how slow am I???)
So, Nihahi, Websister, Benny, me ..... who else is within shouting distance?
-
Actually I'd like to invite any Calgary peeps, and anybody else who can get here, to a free show from our chorus Rhythm of the Rockies "Friends and Family Night"!
We are en route to Hawaii Nov 5 for an international competition, and this performance is largely a Thankyou to all our friends, families and supporters, as well as by way of a dress rehearsal. Can you tell we're excited???
The show is at the Calgary Youth Singers hall, 1370 Hastings Crescent, SE Calgary, and doors open 7.45 for 8pm start.
The more the merrier!
-
Morwenna, is that you in the star? The group looks like a lot of fun...with talented people!
Edi......SO happy DH failed to stay away from dance!!!! Love your story! If we can Skype you earlier in the day, or later at night....it will be fun.....but my DH is coming along, and he is like a sight-seeing drill sargent.....as long as we are there, he will want to see EVERYTHING!
. Will do my best, as I would love to Skype you!
Maria.....hope you are celebrating! Good for you!
Nihahi and Liefie....glad you two got to meet today! (Jealous here......)
Much love to all you terrific ladies, and Happy Thanksgiving to all you Canadians!
XO -
Haha, no, that's our director, Mary! I am actually just out of the picture, next to the girl on the top left as you look at it.
-
Morwenna - was this last night - or is there still a chance to go? Looks like fun
Edie - so happy you 'convinced' DH to go dancing this week, so wonderful!
Nihahi and Liefie - hope you had a wonderful visit, you are both beautiful ladies
Liefie - sounds like such a nice time with your DD working on the nursery
Ridley - we must have crossed posts the other day, thinking of both you and momof2 with your upcoming surgeries
Maria - congratulations!!!! Rest up now for the next step, we are here for you -
Oh how stupid of me. *slaps head* I never said when it was!!!
It's not until Tuesday October 22, so plenty of time if you'd like to come! I'm going to bring an invitation to the recovery group next week, ....... if I remember!!!
-
Hi gorgeous girlies !!!!
Thought I would check in and say a quick hello !!!! I am up for a trip to Canada but I can't get there for Oct 22. I have never been!!! If anyone wants to go with me to a hockey game I would LOVE it !!! I am off to baseball tryouts !!!! Love to u all !!! Muah !!! -
Hey Dakota....you're always welcome here (have to cheer for the Flames, though!!!)!!!! I'm very confused.....baseball tryouts in October???? -
Boo Hoo wish I could come, but...well surgery is the 23rd...and our DC (dear Congress) has the passport agency shutdown. But one day, I am going to get that passport and get started on the bucket list. Look out...I am coming for those Northern Lights!!
Getting my ducks in a row and staying busy. Best wishes to all for a nice weekend! -
Nihahi...funny thing, the Flames used to be in Atlanta. I went to several games while in college in the 70's. We built an huge arena form them, and then they went to Canada. Oh well, guess the South is too hot for hockey. -
I remember when they moved here!!! We can share them, ok! GO FLAMES GO! -
If you want to attend a hockey game, I can recommend the Calgary Hitmen (WHL). Tickets are a fraction of the price of Flames tickets, and they are just as entertaining!
In fact, on two occasions when we have been lining up for tickets on match day, some kind souls have given us freebies!
Canadians are so darn nice!
-
Popping in very quickly here.... (hey what happened to our emoticons?)
Maria >>>> RIGHT ON!!!!!! Congrats! Radiation therapy is a walk in the park, you will be fine now. The fatigue afterward is a bit annoying but just have to pace yourself (yes Nihahi, I do know that word, altho' it's not one of my favourites. A list of my favourite words would include: full speed ahead, ice cream, animals, clean chicken cage, equine anything et al)
I have one of those SAD lights that was on the news the other day. Did they say how long to use it for? I use mine about 30 minutes every morning but I still have insomnia +_+ I've been using mine and it sure does help with SAD, which occurs in epidemic proportions up here in the Great White North.
Okay, good to read everyone is doing okay-ish. I am off to do supper dishes (baby peas and gluten free pasta with onion salt; is that weird? I hate cooking) then to bed early. Rode Diamond yesterday and she was a bit, uh, fresh. My thighs are aching from gripping the saddle while she ripped around the arena lol Edi, have you started riding lessons yet? Don't think they'll let you wear your red shoes there tho'
I sure wish I could have a warm bath. Has anyone else been told they can't have baths anymore? I was told that due to high lymphedema risk, no more soaks in the tub. Just one more thing BC has taken from me that I loved once.
Okay, am off to wash dishes......
Why are there no paragraphs in here?
-
Benny, I am exhausted just reading your post!
Sounds like you are staying busy!
Momof2......it's just getting cold up there.......be glad you're in Georgia! (Even Portland is getting colder......). Keeping you in my thoughts on your upcoming surgery.....
Speaking of passports.....I had better locate mine, so I CAN visit Liefie!
I posted this on another thread, but since I have no darling kids at home (like Dakota) to show off, and in honor of Edi's red dancing shoes I present:
Kona Koffee on your left, and Berkely Bear on your right.....my two chocolate Labs......the only kids I still have at home......
Love you ladies! -
Benny, you sound great! I think baths are fine as long as it's not too hot. They say no hot tubs or saunas, etc. As long as you keep it just moderately warm it should be fine. :-) -
Movie...."Wove" your children. Those are one of the best breeds! They are invited to Yachats too! Oskar and Heidi love bigger dogs. Sure hope my construction people are getting the siding on our "Keiko Cottage" before the rains hit. But I would love to be next to my fireplace listening to that ocean roar! But first things first...gotta get through this "set back" .
DD sent me some pictures of her "Save the Date"..guess that is the new name for engagement photos. I have no clue how to upload a picture to this blog. But the pictures are so nice...they look so happy..and the pictures were taken around the College of Charleston, where she went to undergrad. A Mom's pride and joy...LOL
Well, my coffee cup is empty. Time to get busy...Have a good day ladies! -
momof2........hope you have a good day!!!! My coffee cup is empty too! Don't you just wish we could get up and pour each other another and sit for a good chat.....someday!!!!!
Benny....good to hear from you!!!! The SAD light story indicated the time of exposure was the same as for true SAD patients. 20 to 30 minutes. first thing in the morning, same time everyday, making sure the light "falls" into your eyes. Have you ever tried using it for longer than that and melatonin at night??? -
Movie, the puppy dogs are beyond adorable!! I had a black lab when I was growing up, such a lovable breed.............................................................................
Jennie, how are you? How is your hair coming along? Mine is only growing on the top and sides but not the back, so I look like Lyle Lovett. It's not good. Thanks for the feedback on the bathtub. I am going to try it, just keep my arm out of the tub.
I used to like to lie in the tub and read horse magazines before all this BC stuff started. I'm going to try that again..............................................................................
Nihahi, I've got the light on now. Have tried melatonin, it did work but took about 2 weeks to 'kick in'. Will try increasing the light time. It's perched right over my keyboard so I'm definitely getting it in my eyes.
Okay, my love to everyone, I am off to the farm to ride the giant plush toy! It's another brisk day up here so she's gonna be energetic.
Good thing I got 4 hours sleep last night. LOL -
How come I can't get paragraphs in here anymore?
-
Movie, love your pups,Thanks for the smile this morning -
Hi, Benny have contacted moderators re paragraphs and icon's !!
They said they have done some work on the site and it has affected some people, They asked me to send type of computer and provider, I am now waiting for a reply, will keep u posted, not lessons yet but soon I hope.............Movie, GORGEOUS pic of your doggies, soooo cute. When you getting to Liefie ?...........Mom, cottage sounds divine, hope you feeling better ..............Dakota, soon you WILL be getting to Canada and then you must come to England !.....Morwenna, would love to come to that concert, times like this wish I was married to a millionaire !!.....Nihahi, is Liefie with you ?? think I missed something there......Today was glorious fun, our dearest friends had their Ruby anniversary so we all went out for a meal. I actually managed to eat most of it which is a change. Then back here for tea/coffee and cake. Chattered away for hours and next time all out for a Chinese meal, can't wait. I almost choked on my dinner when DH reels of the list of things he will be doing. Cycling/dancing/model boat sailing/and maybe joining a group !! He is a very good guitarist and someone has contacted him to see if he is interested.Think he is now enjoying his retirement :-) He told one of our gang that he is enjoying himself but he didn't think I was. The friend said to give me some space to be just me, and do what I want. Hopefully message hit home.Visiting dear friend tomorrow who is a seven year survivor of BC, really gives me hope.Watching Bones on sky, they are in the diner, NOW I want fries !!..........Love to all you beautiful ladies. Check you tomorrow.
