waiting for biopsy results, thoughts?

I thought I would post this here for someone who has maybe had some experience with this kind of thing. 12 weeks ago I had a stereotactic biopsy of what turned out to be a benign lymph node that had shown up on my mammogram. During this biopsy I felt two very bad pains which brought me to tears. The surgeon said they hit my blood vessel. Afterward I was bruised a bit and further down from my incision (about 3 inches) I had yellowish skin, which looked like light bruising. Over time ny incision devuelop3d a large hematoma that went down and the yellowish spot further down became thick skin with my hair follicles showing (peau d' orange?) And edema. At my 4 week follow up the doctor noticed that area turning red, but not alarmed. At 7 weeks he put me on Cipro thinking it was cellulitis. At 8 weeks ge noted that it had gone down a bit and the redness comes and goes that I should finish antibiotics and wait 4 weeks. At 3 weeks I went back in with the redness a lot lighter but still there, he decided to do an ultrasound to look for an abcess in which they found nothing. He decided the next step was to biopsy, although he claims that if it were IBC it would be absolutely strange with no previous issues before the biopsy. After the skin biopsy he said it was very superficial and he really thinks its just inflamation. I get results on Tuesday or Wednesday and I am a mess over all of this. Im so scared, trying to be positive but I seem to have stumped the doctor which worries me a lot. As far as I know you cant trigger something like IBC, but the fact that he felt the need to biopsy after making me wait 4 weeks makes me so nervous. Any words, advice, experience with this would be much appreciated.

    hello,

Just a quick word to say that your doc is being careful but he's probably right. I'm not a doc but if you don't have any other symptômes, try and relax.

Im waiting for biopsy résults too, last came back like inflammation. 12 weeks too. I think I have a lymphatic problem too.

You can make yourself very sick with worry but try to live one day at a time.

Take care and I ll keep you in my prayers,

    Alicki

hi Alicki, thanks for your reply. What are they looking for in your biopsy? Was your inflamation 12 weeks after another procedure? Thanks for the prayers I will be sure to keep you in mine as well, hope things go well for you.

    hello,

My skin is thickening, breast enlargement

And nodes are up (might be due to biopsy). 2 negative MRIs. This is a mystery....! 1st biopsy showed inflammation now resolved. And now lost 13 kilos.

    Madness

I received my biopsy results, my skin biopsy came back as a leiomyoma, which is basicly a benign uterine fibroid... on my breast? I'm so unbelievably confused. How is it going for you Alicki?

    Hi,

All three biopsies came back clear (yeah!) but one site is now infected with yellow stuff and red. BUT this is my fault, I picked it. On cream antibiotics. My left breast just still doesn't feel normal, larger (1-2 cm) and swollen lymph nodes. Mind you 4 biospies in total have probably done quite a bit of damage. There's no point biopsying anything else because these are blind biopsies and my dermatalogist-oncologist absolutely refuses to biopsy anything else UNLESS he sees a reason for it (no redness) and any more biopsies will completely ruin my breast at present. So, with 2 negative MRI, 6 Ultrasounds, 1 Top notch doc in the UK (I travelled there), I am going to let the infection biopsy site heal and then if I still have symptomes (pain gone, redness gone, large pin holes reducing but still larger breast and slightly thickened skin which has been biopsied), then off to the UK or US for a PET/CT scan (Still have request for appointment open with MD Anderson Texas (it's a bit more complicated for international patients) but I would prefer the UK).. My breast surgeon here said today, 'oh you know, we've been really careful with you but we've had a few ladies here who in the end, after two or three months it turned out to be IBC' WHAT??????????????????? Are you kidding??? She gave me a check-up appointment in 3 months and a ultrasound. Ok this is where I stand now. As for your uterus breast issue, I would question if they have the correct sample?! I'm no expert but never, never heard of this. Can you get hold of another breast surgeon and ask him, a colleague perhaps? Keep us posted! take care Alicki

wow that is a lot of biopsying, but its great that they are negative. Im assuming as far as the biopsying goes for me ive done all I can. I get to go see my doctor this afternoon and question him about the pathology, but since mine was post surgical in the begining I know they will just assume the biopsy was right. I absolutely cannot afford anymore surgical procedures at this point. He took a 1" skin biopsy from the thickest reddest point on my breast. So I hope that would have been sufficient enough to tell if it was IBC. Im only 5 hours by car away from MD Anderson, but everyone in my life now thinks im just paranoid. Im going to ask about lymphedema today also.
