Maria, congratulations on your last chemo! I remember that day well!!

Websister, congratulations also on finishing Herceptin! When I rang that Bell, I was suddenly quite overcome, I recall, and declining the suggestion that we take a sort of victory walk through the unit, I practically ran from the room, and made it to the washroom outside before dissolving into tears!

I will admit to a few tears last night too ..... I blamed the wind, but I did relate so to many of the walkers, having recently finished treatment, and because I do have what is technically a type of blood cancer too! It was a lovely evening though! :)

Hi Liefie, it's been awhile since I've been on. My ROM is less now, left shoulder bothers me and I'm on neuron tin still, also looking into joining my localYMCA that has a warm water pool. How have you been doing?

Hi Wirdgirl, good to have you back! After DIEP surgery in May my ROM was a little worse than before. After 4 sessions with a physiotherapist I am now almost normal. Still feel some pulling in the axilla, into my upper arm and the DIEP breast, and hope that one day I will be able to fold both arms behind my head again without being aware of any tightness on the left side. One can always hope, eh? Swimming is excellent exercise for this - I should probably do more of that, and less walking.

Websister and Maria, YAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! So very happy for you on finishing chemo - now you really can begin to look forward to fully recover your strength.

    Hi X

Wow you have all been so busy. Yesterday dyed my curls a new colour, wheatgerm blonde !! ( who makes up these names ) much more natural and DH did the back for me !! Saved my tired arms and he said was like painting, he is good at that so now back and front match. Just done a manicure on myself too. Look out world. LOL.

Websister, You rest and relax, congratulations on the herceptin finish too. It is sooo emotional but now onwards and upwards. :-) Gosh the clearing out when a loved one passes is so hard especially when they have lived in a care facility. My poor little car almost broke in half with the weight of the last lot of stuff from Mum and Dads. I found a bag in the loft the other day with Mum's favourite handbag/glasses/purse etc in and still brings back lovely memories.Take care of yourself now you are precious to us all. X

Maria,Take the tissues on Thursday. Nearly there. X

Dakota, Hope you enjoyed your wine. You are doing a great job with your gorgeous children. The way they are standing shows that they love each other and are surrounded by love too.
Our fathers have a lot to answer for !! They say you marry someone like your Dad in our cases WHY ? My consolation
is my son is gentle and loving.X

Morwenna, Pictures are awesome !! Singing looks fab too.Why is TN blood disease ? bit confused. X

Got to get in the shower and put on warpaint for check up GULP !!
    Will check back later.

    Lovsya X

Dakota....Your children are lovely...a Mom's pride and joy!!! I know it is so hard for you to move forward. i pray that you come to realize that it is not your fault and set yourself free. You are such a strong woman and that is what you want your children to remember. The cockroach will still be the same and there are so many better things in life. Sorry for my preaching, but I seem to migrate toward those in need of an exterminators these days :)

Websister, Maria I will be in your pockets as you finish this week's treatments. Yippeedoo

Got to get busy today...wow, the surgery is 2 weeks away. What a motivation BC can be to overcome procrastination !

Hope everyone has a really good day today.

Dakota, what an endearing photo, and what precious kids - makes me emotional to look at how little bro has his arms protectively around his big sis with his head on her shoulder - awwwwwww! Enjoy them. They will be grown and gone before you know it.

Edi, good for you on the sprucing up! Nothing can make a woman feel better in a jiffy than that! I've also been playing with the idea to colour my hair a platinum, shiny, silver white . . . still pondering. I'm 'blonde' now for the first time in my life. Can just as well celebrate and enjoy it - lol.

Anybody knows what happened to Movie? She's been quiet all week.

Off to yogalates - no rest for the wicked. Lol.

Edi, TN isn't anything to do with the blood, but I was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia about the same time as my BC diagnosis.

As blood cancers go, its a pretty slow moving thing, but it is classed as a myeloproliferative bone marrow disorder, and may well have contributed to my leg and lung clots.

As it happens, because chemo knocks out platelets, it actually brought mine down to normal levels for the first time in years! And they are still only at the upper limits of normal range, but I'm having monthly checks.

They are threatening me with some rather nasty drugs if they really pop up again!

Edi - thinking of you while you go to the doctor for check up. Let us know how it goes. Good for you putting colour in your hair - it is something I think about since my hair came back pure white! Perhaps one day I will pluck up the courage to colour it - having said that -I am enjoying the chemo curls and most of my friends say they like my colour, but I think they are just trying to be nice LOL

Hi just back home, check up went well no problems and next one in six months. YAY !!

Liefie, your hair is a lovely colour, mine is a horrible yucky grey that's why I do it.

Mom, Surgery will be over before you know it. BC does make you sort out things you have been putting off too.

Adagio, love my chemo curls too. If you ever do the colouring I use a vegetable based dye from the health food shop. No horrible chemical smell. Easy to do and very gentle. Thanks for thinking of me. :-)

Funny being back in the clinic and watching the sad faces of the obviously newly diagnosed was awful. They were walking past clutching all the leaflets and looking as if they had been hit by a truck.
Wanted to give all of them a hug.Hope they find people like you all to help them.

Morwenna, sorry misunderstood, you poor love ! hope your treatment is a success. ((( HUG ))) As you will have gathered I am neurotic about the TN DX and keep coming across things that send me into a spin.XXXX

    Love you ALL X

Edi, YAAYYYYY! So happy for you, and so sorry for those poor souls just diagnosed . . .

Mom, good luck to you too!

Just came home from yogalates. Was supposed to do some cardio too, but will rather take the dog for a walk outside later. My son's fiance is flying to South Africa tonight to go and get everything in order for their wedding, and she is so excited - poor thing has not seen her parents since last July, and is really homesick too. Such a sweet girl.

Edi - such great news that all is well. I know what you mean about the TN thing, but think positively - no meds to take which means no side effects. That's how I keep myself going plus do the best we can In terms of diet and exercise and then hope for the best. Thanks for the tip about the hair colour from the health store.

One question for all you ladies who are post chemo "have any of you had your hair cut at all since it grew back in? Just curious as to how that would affect the curls?

Liefie - is the wedding in Stellenbosh?

Wirdgirl, its an HTC android. But a big part is the sheer beauty of the things I am photographing!

I hardly ever use our PC any more. Use my phone for everything, and it is great that I can shoot photos and share them on Facebook or email to my family etc without any faffing about! :)

I agree with Adagio re TN. I'm thankful that I have no more treatments (so long as my blood behaves), and can concentrate on really getting fit and well! I know we have a chance of recurrence, but rather than pretend it can't happen, my strategy is to he darned ready for it, if or when it does!!

Love to you all xoxox :D

Adagio, yes it is in Stellenbosch in one of the old historic churches. I started cutting my hair 8 months after chemo, and it lost the curl with the second cut 2 months later. Was not too sorry, because my hair was really very unruly.

Adagio and Morwenna, I agree with you on the TN. Our lead volunteer on our BC telephone buddies turned out to be a TN lady. She is the first person I have met with it except you lovely girls. We kept saying " I had that " ( chemo ) ( Rads ) and as you say no se's from other treatments. Yay.
Then to cap it all she is SIX YEARS out and positive with it !!
She had node involvment and quite a large tumour but is wonderfully well.
We are now in the system so they will look after us, so lets enjoy ourselves.

Agagio, you asked the question I was about to re curls! my head looks a bit like an exploded mattress Back and sides needs tidying up as like Liefie said bit unruly but I will cry if my curls eventually go.May ask them to not touch curly top for now.

Does anyone know WHAT is happening on this reply part ? Icons have vanished at top. I carefully put everything in paragraphs but on pressing submit it ALL welds together !! Have tried DH computer, still the same. Even tried to edit after send and just the same.Know I am the kiss of death on most machines but this is peeing me off good style.
Tried to send Websister " end of chemo cake " and that won't go either # stamps big foot in temper.

Need to foray out to supermarket, catch up later. X
