Iron?

A friend just found out that she has dcis - she's facing surgery in a few weeks but she's anemic. So the dr wants her to take iron. I've never had an issue like this and so don't have a clue, but she said she read that iron feeds cancer. I thought I'd start here - what can you tell me about this?

    I believe if the doctor wants her to take iron he does not feel this a concern. I'd be a lot more worried about having to have a transfusion or put off my surgery. If she did not read this on a reputable source, e.g., Mayo Clinic, WebMD, etc. she should not be concerned about this. She should be asking her questions to her doctor. Eating feeds cancer but we don't quit eating.
