Sorry to hear about your friend's mum Benny. No personal recommendations, but you can Google ovarian cancer discussion boards..... I see Macmillan's do one in the UK.

Ahh, Liefie, You are so helpful...Okay, I can do this. Sealed Thank you for the packing tips. I do not want to stay in the hospital any longer than necessary. I do not want one of those "hospital acquired infections". Got my shingles vaccine and flu shot yesterday, genetic testing today...then post op with 2 doctors next week. I had better get busy... the 23rd will be here soon. I will put you in my pocket!

What do you recommend about Camisoles..do I need one of those $50 things that has pockets for the drains? I bought a few cotton camis that have a built in bra from Kohls, cause they were cheap. Also checking the thrift stores for some button down shirts.

I am fortunate that DH can do most of his work at home by way of the internet except for the classes that he teaches. He says he is willing to vacuum and do the laundry (watch out for tie dyed clothes!)

momof2...I had one of the pocket tops for my flap surgery...never used it...the drain bulbs felt too loose and tenuous to me. What I did for drains, was to get some oversized, sleeveless tshirts (mens) and pinned the drain to it. The fabric was super soft, stretchy enough that I could step into it and pull it up, easy to pin the drain to, didn't cost much and the tiny bit of stretchy compression felt good on my tummy. The armholes were also "deep" enough, that there wasn't a seam irritating my axillary incision. They worked for me, as a "uni"....I think would be just as good if you decide to go with the BMX.

Jenifer, I had one camisole with drain pockets, but wore it only when I went somewhere, and had to look decent. Rest of the time I pinned the drains to my top like Nihahi, and went without bra. I had a UMX and a tissue expander placed.

Nihahi, It is so great that you are going to be able to be there for websis tomorrow. Thank you so much for getting the card.

Dakota, way to go sister, you are sounding good and strong keep it up.

Adagio, Glad to hear your apt. with MO went well.

Still don't have a layoff date for DH, I hoping it won't be till after the holidays but knowing the corporate world it will be right before. Going to just keep our heads up and moving right along.

We are supose to get our first snow tonight I always love the first one but by Janurary I'm over it. Good thing about Denver is it will snow like crazy for a day then the next the sun comes out and melts it all off the streets.

    Hi Smile

Websister, we will all be with you in spirit today.

Nihahi, Thank you for getting a card from us all, what a lovely thought. Also for being able to attend the funeral.Give Websister a big hug from us all please.

Jennifer,Was going to suggest thrift shops for tops ! I love them would be naked Edi without them ( oops ) Great way of getting something without paying out a fortune especially if you won't be wearing them for a long time.
Fab hints from Liefie and Nihahi the sisters are so wonderful and can save you so much stress.
DH size 16 !! flippin heck thought my son had large feet at a 13. Dakota needs one of his old slippers and quick.
Your pockets will be that full for your op. We bring cakes and coffee/tea so line pockets with lots of tissues.X

Adagio, so happy for you that all went well. Laughing As far as I know we never have bloods or scans unless a problem rears its ugly head. I have a few questions for my surgeon and to thank him for last year. Don't think I will see him again after this time. Seeing Onco mid Dec then probably nothing for twelve months.
Here in England we seem to get cast adrift and left to fend for ourselves. They are marvellous if you do have a problem you are seen quickly but no frequent checks Frown X

Maria, Hope DH layoff well after holidays. SNOW wow X

Benny, girls are right Macmillan are the experts on cancer care here, they will point her in the right direction. Hope all goes well X

Liefie, Post vanishing !! don't you feel like throwing lap top across the room ? This one is a bit more reliable but my little netbook did it all the time. Looking at pedometers last one I had was rubbish so will surf the net for a reliable one.X

Last night was red shoes outing, guess what ? DH found something else he needed to go to !!
I was so mad and so upset I didn't do what I had said and go on my own Frown He is driving me up the flippin wall.  I have got to the point I dread opening my eyes in the morning. At least when he went to work for three days I could have some time to my self.
The poop is sooo going to hit the fan any day now.
Sticking to the choir and Bingo no matter what at least.
Worse things happen at sea ha ha.

Love to ALL not mentioned. X

Edi....don't know what to say...other than getting upset and cancelling YOUR plans will only "reinforce" his attitude of controlling what you do. (imho).

Maria....temp here this morning is -3, feels like -8 with the wind. Frost on all the rooftops. It's a bright sunny day though, with not a cloud in the sky. All the mountains now have white tops....it's coming!!!!

adagio...that's good news for sure...those are the best kind of "checkups".

movie...just keep putting one foot in front of the other...you're going into this with a pocket full of sisters.

Have good days ladies.....I'll give websister a big hug.

momof2....Let me know when you're coming!!!! Actually, I missed them, but a couple nights ago the northern lights were spectacular....even had some red colours in them, which is pretty rare! I have an "alert" on my phone, but had already shut the phone off and gone to bed when they started dancing.

Nihahi, so wonderful you are going to support Websister today on our behalf - love you for doing this!

Yes, our highest mountains also got their first dusting of snow, so pretty. I always maintain that we cannot have the beautiful forests and lakes here in our region without the winter rain and snow, so I resign myself, and make the best of the colder months. DH went waterskiing with a buddy yesterday afternoon, and came back cold to the core despite the wetsuit. So I hope this was the last ski of the season. So afraid that icy water will give him a heart attack, seriously. It is time to stop. He and dog now have to swim from land to reach the dock, because the lake has come up from all the rain. No more - I'm going to put my foot down.

Edi, next week you just calmly take your red dancing shoes with a smile, and go on your own. I'm sure there will be somebody there to dance with. Bet you DH will be there in a flash enjoying himself - lol. When the p--p hits the fan as you are predicting, just state your case calmly, matter-of-factly, and let him know that you won't be swayed, no matter what his argument is. Show him the new Edi. Don't know if you know Dr. Phil. He is an American psychologist with a daily program on TV here. I'm not a big fan, but he says one thing that is very true, 'You teach people how to treat you.' BIG HUGS, my friend.

Adagio, so happy everything is fine. Phew!!!! That's how we all feel these days when we leave the doc's office with good news, eh?

Cleaned out the freezer yesterday, and discovered a 9 pound beef roast, pork fillets, legs of lamb, fish, etc. - so have no cooking clue as to what to cook for my dinner guests tomorrow night. Leaning towards the pork though. Now for the rest of the menu . . . thinking of chocolate mouse for dessert, because I can make that today already.

Everybody have a good weekend. Websister, you will be in my prayers.

well...all of our hugs and a card have been delivered to websister. She looked beautiful and has a lovely family. Understandably, websister looked a bit sad and tired. It was a very personal service, with very heartfelt tributes and eulogies. The comments from the grandson's should make websister proud...well spoken and very handsome young men. I caught a quick glimpse of Paisley, who is a gorgeous little angel. I didn't stay long...as I wanted her to have as much time as possible to visit with family and close friends. fyi....she is tiny, tiny, tiny....made me feel like an Amazon!!!

    Nihahi,

Thanks for representing all of us.

    Liefie,

We usually go to Tucson in the winter and we can see the snow in the mountains and yet enjoy 70 to 80 degrees. Just love the mountains. Due to delays in my treatment we will be staying in Michigan for the first time in ten years. We sold our snow blower, shovels, boots, winter coats etc. years ago. We have not driven in snow, no longer have a four wheel drive vehicle....this will be an interesting winter. Forewarning everyone in Michigan to stay out of our path! :-). Hope it's like riding a bike and that it all comes back to us.

Nihahi, I'm sure Websister appreciated your presence there very much. Thanks again for attending!

Carla, good to hear from you!

J06202, you remind me of us when we moved to Vancouver Island from Alberta a few years ago. We sold some items, including snow shovels, that we should have kept. It does snow here sometimes - LOL. Driving in snow on icy roads totally freaks me out. I just stay home, and don't go anywhere. Have to say my social life got much better since we moved here - we get maybe two weeks of snow per year. Not bad at all. I'm sure your previous 'snow skills' will come back quickly when you need it.

Going to bed. Good night everybody, and sleep well.

    Hi gorgeous girls.

Nihahi, thank you for delivering the hug to Websister. Sure her wonderful family will support her through her grief. Agree with you re DH in that I am a WIMP !! Think he reminds me too much of my father and I was terrified of him. Must get over that and just live as I want to. Was having a skype with my cousin last night and he was telling me about our cousin clearing up after floods recently think they live in your area. Surname is Ryder know it is a longshot but you may have come across the family. ? You may feel like an Amazon but you need to be to get through the long journey you have had. X

Carla, hi !! please keep popping back, we can't let our new ladies do this without the Warrior Sisters. X

J06202, next year you will be off to Tucson again. All this will be a memory. Good luck with the snow this year. x

Liefie, Will take Dr Phils and your advice from now on. LOL New hair colour going on tomorrow and sorting outfits for choir, Bingo, Dancing next week may even try the horse riding. Hope your dinner goes well. That piece of meat would completely fill my freezer. Would love a decent sized one but nowhere to put it. Every week have to sort mine or can't get anything new in !!

Mom, northern lights on my bucket list too. I believe they may be seen from the most northern part of Scotland here so must look into it. My DD and GD arrived yesterday with their new puppy a tiny chihahua called Dougie. My DD wanted the smallest dog possible and he is so dinky. He had us all besotted by the time he left.

Heading to the shops for a good mooch. Love to ALL X

edi...can't say I got many people's names while I was doing the volunteer stuff. Hopefully your cousin wasn't too badly impacted by the floods. Some people are now doing pretty well and getting back to normal, while some people are still struggling greatly.

Why don't you try sitting down with hubby and telling him just what you told us. That when he acts like "that" it reminds you of your father, and it really upsets you. He knows of your father's abuse towards your family, right....bet you in a zillion years, he never would think that HIS actions/attitude brings out those old memories and emotions. I bet hubby would want no part of hurting you like that!!!!! Men don't just need to be given the "book on relationships", they sometimes need it opened, and read out loud to them!!!!!!!

    Hi everyone

It was so wonderful to have you all there with me yesterday. I recognized Nihahi right away (kindred spirits). The hugs were just what I needed and so wonderful to receive the card in such a personal way. Nihahi is beautiful inside and out. We had a wonderful celebration of a wonderful life.

Will catch up some more later but wanted to express my gratitude, love you all

    Take care

Nihahi, have done that in the past. He had a Dad who beat him with a belt and he still remembers that. At least he never raised a finger to the children.
He doesnt ever seem to listen, its as if I am talking to myself.
Will put up and shut up from now on, lots more important things going on here without my threepence worth of woes.
Didn't think you would know my cousin but was just a chance as the surname bit unusual. His Mum and Dad emigrated to your wonderful country just after the war and became the foreign part of our family.
When they visited we all had fabulous cowboy/girl outfits I lived in mine and wanted to wear it for school.
Has your reply box altered on here ? Top line has vanished with icons etc on. x

    Anyway....time to get busy. ((((X))))

Oh, that is just so beautiful. I went to Alaska one summer and saw a video of a collection of pictures of the northern lights. I need to get over my current "setback", get a passport, and next winter find a place in Canada that I can STAY until the sky puts on a show. I really love the colder climates. But then I have never had to shovel snow to get to work...LOL

I would like to get a big map and put pins that show where everyone on this blog lives. That way we could all "couch surf" across the continent. Of course, if you come see me in Oregon or Georgia, I will give you your own bedroom and a delightful coffee with froth on top each morning. Any takers?

A wonderful, and bittersweet day today. A very dear friend who is currently working with an exterminator for her bipolar/narcissistic cockroach came to see me. Her cockroach had tried his best to keep me from contacting her by throwing away mail, deleting emails and phone messages. Ten years of a truly beautiful woman was lost to a cockroach that did his best to destroy her and their beautiful daughter. But my email to her about my BC got through! Now we are back, but it is going to be very difficult for her to regain her self esteem and limit the damage that has been inflicted on her DD. But we made a promise to each other...she will be with me for my surgery and my DH and I are going to help her with the exterminator. That cockroach is gonna really feel the impact of a size 16D..

Yay, the GA Dawgs pulled out a nail bitter in overtime against TN. Orange teams are always our toughest opponents.

momof2.....such a wonderful thing, to regain that friend. How tough for her and her daughter....so glad she has enlisted an exterminator. Hopefully she and daughter can also get some emotional counselling to help them heal.

OMG....cozy bed and a frothy coffee....SIGN ME UP! My nephew is going to be returning to his home and family in Georgia soon. He is an Air Force pilot (A-10's) currently stationed in Afghanistan. Can't wait to hear he is safely back stateside.

Morwenna, on rare occasions we get to see the northern lights in Michigan. The last time was so spectacular! We were on the highway and everyone was pulling off on the shoulder and getting out of their cars to enjoy the show. Just couldn't concentrate on driving when all we wanted to do was watch the sky dancing with such beautiful lights.

Actually, my photos were of September just last year, when I checked. It seems longer ago ..... I guess this has been kind of a long year for me! My husband took them from right outside our front door!

    Good day beautiful ladies,

Momof2- sign me up to, I would love to visit either place I bet both are beautiful.

Websis- hope you are doing ok thinking of you everyday.

Edi- the other thing that has changed for me with bc is that I am going to do and go where I want to if DH wants to come along for the ride he is more then welcome but I refuse to miss out on things I want to do because it does not suit him. He keeps telling what a busy lady I am lately, why yes I am and loving life.

It's Bronco Sunday here in Denver we are 4-0 on the season, love me some football. I have joined a pool league with my step brother so will watch the game today at the bar we are playing. I am a horrible player but figure it is something new to learn. Last night went to dinner with the family for Mom's birthday then played poker after what a fun night.

I have my last Chemo treatment this Thursday feeling excited to be finished with this part of the journey.

I hope everybody had a fantastic weekend

Maria - congratulations on last chemo coming up this Thursday, what a milestone for you, you have done so well throughout!

Edi - this is where we vent and can really be ourselves. Hope that very soon you will be waking up looking forward to each day and what it holds again - regardless of what DH decides to do with his days. ((()))

Morwenna - loved the pictures - sounds like a wonderful evening yesterday, I know how much you love your singing and it was for a wonderful cause. I participated in the Run for the Cure today, about 8,000 participants in Calgary, got in on a free foot massage at the survivors tent - heaven :)

Still a little brain dead after the last week so forgive me if I neglected to comment or add support - we have had a houseful since the funeral on Friday, Thursday was my final Herceptin infusion (18 in total), I rang the bell in the chemo area and shed a few tears as I walked away, I'm sure there were a few people in the waiting area wondering about that. Yesterday, we went and cleaned out Mom's room at the lodge (they called Thursday to ask about this).

This week I will start to go through what we packed up as well as work on some of the financial aspects ie banking, closing accounts

For the rest of today though, I will rest

    Take care everyone
