MOT,
Glad to hear that you are having few SEs from the hormone therapy. Thanks for asking about me!! I had a rough time healing post rads - soon after the treatment I dealt with burns and had to have wound care. Then came the bouts of cellulitis and was on antibiotics for 6 weeks. I was then sent to an infectious disease specialist to better manage the long term antibiotics. I was given the choice to stop the antibiotics and to have them on handshould the need arise and I chose this option as I was extremely frustrated and just wanted it all to end. I am doing fine and hope that it continues this way!! I do have some tenderness in my affected breast but I am not paying too much attention to it!!
I hope that all the ladies in our group here are doing well and have moved on to better things.

Just got back from my doctor I have SE from rads YET my last day was June 22 and I told the doctor about my chest hurting same spot all the time and some ribs are tender she said sounds like SE and I am also getting herceptin so did not know if it could be my heart too it is all on my left side and the left side was the cancer so she is setting me up for looking at the heart I for get what its called ultrasound? we will find out soon she said its 6 mo from last one for the heart so she said its time.

It has been a long time since I posted here and hope you are all well. Ang, whatever happened since your last post? I had post rad SEs as well, but mine were more muscular. Pray that all is well.
My TEs were swapped out a week ago and port removed. Also had a hernia repaired! Sore and tender, but doing okay. SO nice to have soft boobs again! My right side, the cancer side, is definitely tighter, and probably always will be, but doing pretty well. Stitches out in a couple weeks. What a year it has been.
fredntan, are you diabetic? I am as well, and struggling to get A1C down since chemo. Using insulin every day at least once, and never did before. Numbers are improving, but probably won't make great strides til I am well from these surgeries and can exercise. I feel overall very weak from the last year, and look forward to being on a steady upward slope for a change. I just keep reminding myself of how long the recovery takes when I want to be what I was now!
Have a good day, all.

Is anyone still have side effects of rads? ribs, hurt breast , I still have ribs that are tender yet. I am beginning to think is this permanent.. finished rads June 22 never would think this would still be a problem.
-
My boob hurts, i had diep 3 weeks ago. Its the rad boob that has issues.
-
I finished rads nearly 6 months ago, and my breast is STILL tender. Seeing the RO next Friday for my 6-month follow-up visit. Hope to have a few answers then...
-
I still have rib pain and some breast pain from rads yet and its been since June when I was done.
-
Mizmarie, Did you get your answers on your Follow up?
I am still sore my ribs and breast specially if I lay on that side.
-
MizMarie.....I finished rads at the end of May so almost six months and my breast is still
tender......I do believe you have nothing to worry about.....I've heard it can take up to two
years for your breast to feel normal again. -
RO said that the swelling/tenderness is fairly typical, and yes, she did say it can take up to 2 years to resolve. Another thing I meant to ask but forgot to was whether the swelling is related to the fact that my sweat glands on that side no longer function. Anyone else with that issue?
-
I can't believe that may 8th will be 1 year since i started rads, Wow time did fly I still had herceptin until march and now nothing it feels so strange not to go anywhere. Really don't know what to do anymore. Not complaining but it is kind of a bitter sweet your done with everything yeah... BUT your also done seeing your doctor and that scares the crap out of me. Trying to lose weight now wow is that a struggle. Anyway how is everyone else here in the April/May rads from2012 would love to here from you all.

I got my one & hopefully only on the Mets to my back yesturday. The Brests will come when the doctors are finally ready to remove them. Honestly, I can't wait for that day. Though I think the gravity of it all has hit my hubby more than it really has me. Because I was talking about getting back to work by the end of summer and he was think again, you are staying home for a year.
-
Fredntan- Good to here from you. Great news on the ct being nothing, It is hard I actually told my husband that I have forever changed this is the new normal I was told it does take time.
-
Raysnbucs--- Take your time if you can on about working the healing takes awhile. I am glad I took that time off. Your hubby sounds very loving & caring...

Well next week is one year since end of rads and starting Tamoxifen. I some ways it seems like forever ago, and in others, well sometimes when I leave work I head up to the cancer center just out of force of habit. I'm doing OK except when I'm not. Hope you are all having more good days than bad days!

Just stopped by to peek at the board here. Nice to hear from ang7894, Cindyl and fredntan. Yes, I passed my one year end of rads in June. Have been on Anastrozole (generic Arimidex) since the end of rads, after 6 months began to have shoulder problems, eventually to where I couldn't lift my arms --- had never had anything like shoulder tendinitis before. My onco insisted I needed to be on the hormone therapy and also insisted the tendinitis had nothing to do with the hormone therapy. Well, she is on maternity leave now, and the onco I just saw last month, said to take a month vacation from meds and see if the shoulders get better. After 10 days off meds, they are improving. I have to call him in a month. I think I could be on the meds for 5 months, then take a vacation from them again for -- ? Actually he doesn't think I even need to be on the meds because my tumor was Grade I and very small. Of course that makes me a little afraid. So I guess I'll have to decide what to do in a few months time..... needless to say, he is my new onco. Yes, this is the new normal.....
-
So hard to know what to do. I fear a reoccurance, but then again, the SE's from Tamoxifen are worrisome too.
In my life... My PCP sent me in for a brain MRI, as I'm having some numbness and tingling in various fingers and toes. She was worried about MS as I have a family history. She didn't see any problems. I had them send a copy over to the cancer center just because... so when I went in for my 18 month after rads check, the oncologist said he'd looked it over and he didn't see anything that worried him, so that was a relief. He verified that I had an appointment on the med side in November and told me to make sure to get my mamogram before I came to see him in Feb... The new normal.

Hi all,
I haven't posted in a LONG time, but I was one of the April/May 2012 rads group. This week I just finished the last step in my reconstruction - tatoos!! It's been a long haul (almost 2 years since diagnosis), but I'm finally at the other end of the treatment tunnel. . . ok, well except for the Tamoxifen. . .which I'll be on for another year, then switch to an aromatase inhibitor for probably 8 more (my oncologist seems to think the 5 year plan will soon be stretching to 10).
