Sparkle........I'll take it
-
Oh, the college stories...somehow we remember the "bad" ones but I did have some success stories. We pulled the plug on DD at Tufts...no online records at the time...I called some of her profs and found out she wasn't attending class...they were not supposed to tell me. She was kid #1 and I had 5 and could not afford an extra class let alone semester...After a long miserable hiatus, she got her stuff together and took the credits on her own elsewhere and finally got her degree. Then she put herself through law school. She is still paying the loans but she and DH have a good life.
Two of my sons and one daughter graduated in 4 years but one son did the last semester 3 times. He never graduated but he has a great career in SFO. Go figure....I just wish I hadn't stressed so much!
Linda, is there a late-start course your son can register for? We have those at my school.
Chris, it sounds like your DD is managing her ups and downs...maybe you should not look at her FB but I probably would!Ducky, oh, the nostalgia of closing the beach house...I don't close my house but I still get so sad when the season is over. I hope you keep the good memories of this past year. It sounds like the grandkids are growing...that can be hard too, but it is a good thing that you have some of them close in your life. I don't know what your odds are with surgery...maybe you can find someone who knows. You deserve to feel good every day.
I have my cardiology appointment tomorrow...I stopped taking the statin and have to tell him. I've been eating everything in sight...my cholesterol is probably maxing out.
Good night and happy week end to everyone. -
Joan, I want to stop all meds, but, can't bring myself to it........My heart problem was unstable plaque....a piece broke off and caused a clot in a smll artery (not main, main looked good in the Cath.......but it clogged in the small one)......so here I am.....the tat in stabalizes the plaque, so not sure if going off that is wise........
This weekend is Irish weekend, and antique car show at the shore...daughters will go to the boardwalk to see it all..........means walking, which kill me with the bad knees.....so I suffer walking or stay home........this is what I mean about QOL.............. -
(((ducky)))
Has anyone seen/heard from Sheila? -
I am so glad I wasn't on FB when DS was away at college, it's just better not to know
It is so hard to let our kids make mistakes but they will and while it pains us, it is good for them (hopefully).
Planning DH's 65th birthday surprise, removing something from his bucket list - to attend a game at Lambeau Field. I do not like to be cold. Should be interesting. Hope he likes this more than a party

I'm back!!!!
I took the last week off of the internet (or at least mostly) so I could spend as much time with Patch and Lala that I could. I would get up early (4:30 or 5) and get Lala when she woke. We'd go in the family room and rock until everyone else got up. Such a special time of the day.
I sewed for the kids, and layed in the floor playing with Patch. Patch became enthralled with feeding the fish, and it was so cute that he knew he had to sit in a chair by the pond and could not run around the water. It upset him to come outside and find his daddy sitting in the chair. At 27 months he sure can understand rules.
Tuesday we went and watched The Big Bang Theory being taped. It was a long day and the shooting let out after 11 pm. By the time we had something to eat, got to DS's and picked up the kids, and got home it was 2:30. I;m not used to being up that late and it took a day to get back on track.
-
I started that post yesterday and forgot to hit submit before I got ready for work. I'm such a Johnny on the Spot!
-
Glad you had such a nice time with the little ones. So cute he was so good about the rules.
Love love love Big Bang Theory -
Making a cake (from a box - let's not get crazy) for my baby's 17th birthday.
Here's an example of how my brain doesn't work anymore. I know it's his birthday. I woke up this morning and was wishing we had something fun to do for his birthday - but I also was thinking about the laundry I wanted to do that I had been putting off because I didn't know if DS had put all the stuff he needed washed in the hamper. The boys had a service project this morning. I was awake, but hadn't gotten up yet when they were leaving. so i asked DS if he had put his band shirt in the laundry... Did I say Happy Birthday? Of course not. My brain had switched from thinking about his birthday to the laundry. Mono-synaptic. duh. It wasn't until after they had left and I was in the kitchen and saw the blocks with the date that I realized I hadn't said Happy Birthday. So I texted him. Why doesn't my brain work anymore? He knows my heart is in the right place even if my brain isn't...
-
I've done nearly the same thing, Chris. Called to talked to my mom but forgotten to wish her a happy birthday or something like that.
Everything was put on hold while the little ones were here, so today is catch up day, big time!
-
Meece so glad you had a good time with the babies...
Shiela ♥♥♥♥
Linda wow didn't he just start...
Chris you are so funny
Diane, Deb, Joan, Granny and Ducky [[[[[[[[[[[[HUGS]]]]]]]
Out of the 5 kids 1 went to college did 4 in 3 years after taking a year off and instead of being an interior designer she is cleaning houses, WTF....1 got some girl pregnant and my granddaughter Jessie is here and 17 and he had to pay child support so so much for college....the other went to school to learn how to be a medical biller and then the twins who do nothing but play candy crush and watch tv....they are moving at their own pace...
Did go to the warehouse, got lots of stuff a kureig single cup, brand spanking new coffee maker, fitted sheets, toilet paper and paper towels...soap, shampoo a ironing board cover.....it was like christmas...love that...I am blessed.....
got the results of the ct scan, the stupid fluid I had drained is back after 2 weeks so have to get it drained again, the fluid around the heart is minimal, abcess is not back little bit of fluid not enough to drain, so the pain which is still there is the diverticultis or broken ribs that are there, whatever....will look at the report when I get to chemo on wed. that is what the lung dr. told me, still don't know why I can't breathe but thinking it is the fluid issue...and he doesn't know why it keeps coming back....other than that get things accomplished a little at a time, baby steps....
luv u guys!!! BBL

Glad you got some early xmas presents, Sandy. Hope those baby steps start to improve things for you soon!
So, I asked DS how many pages of his summer reading book he's read - he needs to be ready to discuss it on Thursday. he started the summer reading AFTER school began. And of course he picked a 500 page book - duh. He's only 1/2 way through. I was about to say it isn't even summer anymore when I looked at the clock and it was 4:32. i think fall began at 4:44 - We were at my parents house. So at 4:44 I stood up and announced that it is FALL! So it is now fall and DS still isn't finished with his summer reading. And I reminded him that if he continues to be unable to get his work done, he will flunk out of college in one semester. He said, "You don't know what it is like to be a teenager these days." I said that is a sorry excuse. There are plenty of teenagers who are getting their work done on time and they are the ones you will be competing with for a job and a livelihood some day. You'd better figure out how to get your work done. He didn't argue anymore.
So, I had to tell my just-turned-17 year old that it makes me sick to say it, but you can't do anything else until your summer reading is done.
omg....

Thanks, it is good to be back.
Sunday we went to DH's GS's birthday party. It was, as usual, uncomfortable, but surprisingly, we were allowed to sit and hold new GD who is 2 months old. Even though our relationship is limited to the gift giving events, it was nice to be allowed to hold her.

Beautiful pic, beautiful ladies!!
