It is like I am watching this happen to someone else, not me!
I meet with the chemotherapy doctor on Thursday. After a few months of increasing sciatic pain, multiple mets have been found on bone scan. I don't quite know what to expect as far as how long will it take for the pain to subside. How long can they keep this at bay with chemotherapy and I don't even know what else. My head is spinning. I know God is in control and He has a plan, but I sure wish he would share it with me. I made it through the first go round with all you ladies and I know I will this time too. Blessings, Kathy

Hi, Kathy. I'm so sorry you've been handed this NEW lousy news. You must be reeling. I don't have any real information to share with you, I just wanted you to know that I will pray for you as soon as I'm finished posting. Katy

Kathy, I know the feeling I had when I heard I had mets. They are all jumbled up and my worst fear was that I wouldn't be alive for very long. Well, I've calmed down in that year and learned so much. I learned that there are so many women with mets living a lot longer now and living a good quality of life. Once you get on your treatment plan, you will feel a lot better. There is a bone mets topic board that I finally settled on that helps me when I need encouragment or have questions. Take lots of deep b reaths, cry when you need to, and say to your self...I will be okay, I will be okay

Linda, thank you so very much. I am trying to keep busy and keep my mind from wondering too far down the line. The way people drive here in Costa Rica I am likely to get hit by a bus or motorcycle long before the cancer gets me. I told my teenage daughter that I sometimes handle things like this with inappropriate humor, so get ready for it. I made her laugh. She said, but what if I don't think it is funny, I said, laugh anyway. Thank you so much for you encouragement.

Kathy, Initially, I also went to some counseling and that helped me too. The one most important thing I took from that was she said I needed to get grounded first so I could help my family get grounded with this. My daughter was so upset initally but she seems to be doing a lot better now. she thought for sure I was going to die right away, she's a nurse and was getting fed lots of horror stories from others. Anyway, the couselor's advice of getting grounded, I knew what she meant was for me to get to a good place with this dx. Its an ongoing battle to keep your mind from thinking the worst, but inbetween those dark thoughts are lots of fun and good times. Let me know what your treatment plan is and keep posting.
Hugs, Linda

My appointment went very well today. I feel so much better. I will be having Taxol weekly, Herceptin every three weeks and Zometa monthly. I will be reevaluated in three months. I am pretty sure will be having a port put in soon. Bloodwork done today and echocardiogram is scheduled for Mondayright after chemotherapy. My daughter was with me and she just took over. I am so very proud of her. She is only 18. I really think this helped her to feel like she is helping, and she really is. One proud mom here. Blessings, Kathy

I'm wishing everyone well. I am going through evaluation of mets. Right now I want to refuse all treatment and just let the cancer take me down. Of course my boyfriend and family aren't good with that plan. But why should I suffer and get my hope up with the inevitibe will kick in. This whole journey and all my tremendous tremendous suffering, I now know to be one of just false hope.

What evaluation are you having? Have you been diagnosed? Try to stay calm and don't jump to far ahead. We are all here for you and feel free to ask any questions. I have days when I wonder why I am going through all this but then I look at my daughter and husband and I know why. Once plans are in place it is better. Be patient. Blessings, Kathy

I'm meeting with my oncologist's physician assistant to go through my signs and symptoms and see what tests are next. I don't feel like it will be okay whatsoever even with plans in place but I truly so appreciate your kindness very much. I wish your family and you well.
