Nutritional advice for cancer survivers

I saw this article on the American Cancer Society website which appears to summarise the current state of knowlege/evidence regarding food and nutrition for cancer surivers and those undergoing treatment.

I found it useful to get an understanding of evidence-based dos and don'ts. Based on this, I plan to lose some weight, exercise more, eat healthily and just enjoy life.

I'm shocked (or maybe not) that the American Cancer Society is still saying that SUGAR does not cause cancer. DON'T BELIEVE THIS. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.

Sugar feeds cancer. I eat a ketogenic diet and have for over 2 years. It is very doable.

Hello Zogo

May I ask why a ketogenic diet whch I know very little about (I understand it is high in fat and makes the body acidic) would be good for keeping cancer away?

I hope I don't sound critical - I think every person must deal with cancer in the best way they can - I personally am trying to find what nutrition would be right for me and don't know yet what I should or shouldn't be eating.

Does the ketogenic diet include vegetables and fruits?

Hi Bounce, I completely agree that each person needs to make their own decisions on their way of eating.

I don't know that the ketogenic way of eating necessarily makes the body acidic. It forces the body to run on ketones instead of glucose. I certainly don't push my way of eating on others, it was only after lots of research that I made my decision to eat this way (and I feel great). I'm personally convinced that it is good for my inherited risks of cancer, heart disease and dementia, with the bonus of weight loss that I am trying to achieve before my final reconstruction. And yes, I eat vegetables and berries...Just keeping an eye on their carb content.
