Liver levels

I was diagnosed with idc her/2 positive in April this year. I did one week of radiation twice a day and three rounds of chemo. Carboplatin, taxotere, herceptin and am doing herceptin until next June. I finally started feeling normal again and received a call from my primary dr. That had done a blood test for the simvastatin I am on for high cholesterol . They said my liver level was on the high side. Normally I am at 31 or 32, but this test said it was 39. Can anyone tell me if this is normal for people on the drugs we are on. It freaked me out. I appreciate any response. It really scared me. Thank you

Hi Monicamacho. All the drugs we take have to be processed by the liver and because of that can cause damage which will put your numbers up. It is something to watch but the liver can and does regenerate to repair providing it was healthy to start with. At this point I doubt that you need to panic.

    Hope this helps.

    Girl......

I can relate to liver issues!!!! Did chemo radiation and now on arimidex. Liver levels fine during chemo , but began climbing once I started the ai. Did cat scan and I have a fatty liver from all the treatment and from the arimidex. And mine is much higher than yours- it's my ast and alt that remain elevated. My alt is just mildly elevated now but it was twice the normal limit last year. My ast is is about 15 points above normal and every three months goes down or stays same. My numbers will fluctuate if I take Ativan or anxiety meds or ibuprofen a lot for joint pain.

My onc always says that unless the lab is double what it should be for the enzymes or he sees a steady trend upward over time - he's not freakish g out. When it does double or creeps up - he scans.

Scares the crud out of you for sure- which enzyme is elevated?
