    Hi gritgirl keep enjoying your stay. About the hill I thought you had lots of taxis out there don't over do it it's meant to be a holiday as well as work.

    gritgirl - Lol!  I"m used to it!

    mara - it took a long time to get dressed, didn't it?  We had physical education class too and had to change into gym clothes and then shower and get back into the stockings, etc.  How did we ever get anything done?

    Yes grit girl I finished chemo 25 days ago. My body tells me take it easy. The EXPERTS say exercise and it will help fatigue.



    SpecialK I do remember having to wear dresses to public school until about 4th grade when that changed. We would wear pants under our dresses for the cold and then take them off at school. That is barbaric. I hope your biopsies go OK.

    Two hobbies. I exercised through chemo but found if I pushed myself too far I would throw up. That was an easy signal to respect. So I pushed up to a certain level, and then stopped. :-)

    LOL! Ya'll are killin' me...I have not have a pair of pantyhose on these legs in over 20 years!!! Im in FL and if I had to put on panthose the ladies in Alaska would be able to hear me WHINE! Lol. I will admit to cotton tights and boots when it gets "cold".



    And...umm... Yes, I am guilty of flip-flops almost year round...



    I was able to "walk" (a mile or two before neuropahy set in) most days during chemo, but I didnt do any other exercise. Good luck!

    Got 4 miles in this morning, mainly because my neighbor asked me to walk with her, not because I am being diligent, lol!  I realized how nice it is to get that out of the way early in the morning so I don't have to feel guilty and lazy for the rest of the day!  I may do another walk later this evening, depending on the weatehr and my energy level.

    two hobbies - the biopsies already done on my back will surely yield basal cell carcinomas, but the fix is easy.  I have not yet had a skin biopsy that has not been a malignancy, more than 20.  The eye is the worrisome one - but I will know more on Monday.  Interestingly, I had 3 during my BC diagnosis and had them done right before chemo - they left the most noticeable scars - they aren't lying when they say chemo inhibits healing! Two were on my lower legs - one of the reasons for the pantyhose, lol!

    Fl warrior. Do not underestimate the value of pantyhose exercise. Maybe buy a pair just to put on and take off for the value of stretching, grunting, balancing, and pulling. I feel stronger already.

    I've been trying to imagine what you mean about the eye. Is it inside the eye above or below the lashes or just close to the eye? That does seem to be a delicate area to biopsy and treat. Ill be thinking of you.



    Haha you are right GG. Isn't that what those resistance bands are made of-pantyhose? Perhaps that's why I have two dresses in my closet that I never wear. Hate the pantyhose and heels.

    Just an FYI - putting on lymphedema sleeves also produces a calorie burn!  Or a compression garment after fat-grafting - but that one potentially involves a bit of whimpering too.

    twohobbies - the area to be biopsied is the inner rim between the lower lashes and my eyeball.  It is where you would put eyeliner if you lined the inner rims of your eye.  The arrow that points to eyelid margin is exactly where the suspicious area is.

    SpecialK, are you saying that you had skin malignancies during the time you had chemo, and chemo didn't do anything for them? Or was the chemo afterward? Or did I misunderstand? Seems like chemo would have done "something," to inhibit the growth. You will let us know about the biopsies, right?

    I tried to do my usual walk/run on Monday, but it was mainly a walk. I don't know if it was because I am weak from my biopsy, or I didn't give my inhaler time to work before heading out, but I mainly walked. I stopped Tamoxifen about a week ago. I read that it hangs in your system for two weeks, and I believe it, my hair is still falling out. Haven't had a treatment yet, besides Faslodex, that didn't make my hair fall out.

    A business associate of my husband's has loaned us an air purifier to help my breathing. It's supposed to kill bacteria and viruses http://www.zentox.com/photox.php.  Might be placebo effect, but the air smells better and my breathing seems easier. (I live in a 100+ year old building, actually a former factory building where Hanes pantyhose used to be manufactured. Long, long ago, lol)

    Tarheel. I'm sure your biopsy is taking a toll. It is a body stress.



    And a synergy that you live in a place where pantyhose were made.



    I think we need to call this group Biopsies R Us. Here's to positive results.

    Exercise - Working Back to it After or During Treatment, OR BIOPSIES!  I also appreciate the how all the recent commentary about pantyhose is tied together by tarheel living in a pantyhose factory!

    tarheel - I had diagnosed basal cell areas that were treated just prior to chemo.  I knew that I wouldn't be able to treat them until well after chemo if I left them - so I did it just before, but was uncertain as to whether or not they would be affected by the chemo drugs I would be receiving.  I know they give some types of chemo for metastatic skin basals but because mine were still superficial I was not sure whether to risk leaving them.  I will def keep you posted about the biopsies - I am sure the three on my back will be malignant - 100% of the ones I have had biopsied have been.  I should know more about the eye on Monday.

    Oh you ladies make me laugh! GritGirl, I love your philosophy of exercise with pantyhose! Makes perfect sense to me! I will say that I sit on a stability ball at work so I can get some exercise throughout the day. I have been trying to do crunches every now and then, and it does work some of the core muscles. Still waiting for my knee to improve so I can start walking again. I am wondering if it's not healing quickly because of the chemo. Since it affects my immune system, it would only make sense that it would delay healing of an injury. It's a bit better today, but still sore......I feel like such an old lady!

    rhody - chemo can also inflame all soft tissue, so that might be a hindrance as well!  Frustrating, right?

    More walking today for me, about two miles. I walked about the same distance Monday too, plus one very short sprint to get across the street before the light changed.

    I don't walk fast, because I'm just trying to build up my stamina, but it's nice to know I can sprint if I need to. Smile

    Rhody, I like the idea of sitting on a stability ball at work.  I haven't tried it yet, but I think I will.  Hope your knee gets better soon!

    gritgirl, I guess pantyhose could be a work out...lol..."put on and take off for the value of stretching, grunting, balancing, and pulling". Clever idea, but I might break my leg racing to get them OFF!  :) I hope you are enjoying your conference, what is the topic?

    Tarheel, clean air is a good thing!  Hopefully the air purifier will make a big difference for you!

    I made an extra effort to get up and be moving around a lot at work today.   Not the same as a good walk, but I am hoping the get up walk around sit, repeat, repeat, repeat...did some good.

    Special K- I have hit myself in the face many times while pulling up my lymphedema sleeves. I always look around to see who might have seen me look so ridiculous...

    Ginger48, thank you for sharing your minor clumsiness. I took off a pair of shorts yesterday and was giving them a good shake before hanging them up (I have a cat and my meds are making my hair fall out, so my clothes are a hairy mess.) anyway, I shook the fabric so hard it snapped back and hit my nose and lip. Y'all go ahead and laugh because it sure was ridiculous!

    Rhody, curveball, FLwarrior, and everybody else out there moving and stretching despite aches, injuries, busy schedules or pantyhose ... THANK YOU! What you do inspires me to get up and out of bed! Let's keep it going!!

    Today I managed to swim for 10 minutes straight, then walked in the pool for another 5 minutes. I think I have finally found the confortable pace for swimming, so I can really build on it. I am swimming now on a tether system that keeps me in the middle of the pool while I swim pretty much in place. It seems to be working well for me in  my tiny pool.

    Wow. Everyone is moving. After 2 days of too much food and too little movement, looking forward to going home. The airport will give me some walking. Friday is herceptin day so that will low key. Good to see everyone keeping up. Any movement is a good movement, even if it's getting up to change the channel rather than using the remote. :-)

    I have managed some exercise this week. A little walk to a lovely pub unfortunately it was food driven. Fortunately I live in house with stairs and I am so forgetful on the letrozole that I have to keep going back up for things. Well it all helps I think !!!

    ginger - the first set of sleeves (bi-lat) I got were pretty tight but when I tried them on at the place I got them I had some assistance.  The first time I put them on at home I actually had to lie down afterward! For about 20 minutes!  My hands turned purple so it turned out they were too tight.  Fortunately I was able to exchange them and have now found a brand that is tight enough but not exhausting to put on.  I know what you mean though - when you pull from the top that last little tug if your hand slips you bap yourself in the face!

    At one of the Air Force bases we were assigned to the Wives' Club had an activities sign-up.  There were the usual suspects - cards, cooking, gardening, etc. - then there was one for clay shooting.  They had the longest line!  It made me wonder about motivation, I was like whoa! ... ladies with some pent up feelings, lol! .....  anyway, on the day of the clay shooting I managed to have the shotgun recoil and hit me in the lip - and I missed the clay.  Realized I was probably not going to make the Olympic team for target shooting, and probably should never handle a gun.

    FLwarrior - not counting on good news with the biopsies because it never is - I have had 100% of my biopsies be malignancies, but I am used to it - as long as they are just basal cells it is OK because they are easy to deal with, but I so appreciate your kind thoughts!

    Trying to work up some energy to go for a walk before it gets too hot, because it will most likely rain later!

    SpecialK, great point about the chemo inflaming soft tissue. I think the knee is a tiny bit better today....hoping for continued healing!

    I am still exercising quite sparingly. I did some weeding on Sunday and was wiped out from it. So strange. But yesterday I did go for a 30 minute walk and so far I feel good, whereas just a week ago I would feel horrible for two days. So I'm hoping my stamina is improving even though my legs still exhibit a lot of weakness that I see if I weed or walk up stairs.

    Major exercise for me I made a cake lovely Victoria Sandwich lots of cream and jam. Unfortunately I ate a lot of it. Lovely September sunshine today so tea and cake in the garden very Downton Abbey.



    Too full to do much more. Never mind I have skittles on Thursday.

    It's an old English game which we think is were . Ten bowling game from. You have nine skittles or pins in a wooden alley like in ten pin and a big wooden ball to throw three times at them it's good exercise because you also have to pick the skittles up in turn. Lots of Bending and lifting lol. I tried to up load a picture but not very old at that sort of thing. The best bit is you usually play in pubs it's great in winter when the pubs have log fires.

    mara - yes!  Sounds like fun!  I asked because here in the U.S. skittles is a type of candy - I was momentarily confused!
